  1. Hi Guys, sorry for the very late reply but i sold the Fabia and Bought a Mondeo ST just after xmas, so very rarely come on here anymore. The Plastic removal was straight forward really. I removed the front bumper, got that ghastly number plate holder off and the very carefully cut away the plastic that the number plate holder was attached to using a stanley knife with a brand new blade. It sounds daunting but it was actually very easy and with some patience you can do it neatly. The mesh is just the ripspeed stuff that halfords sell. Can't recall the exact size, but you might want to measure the gap where the grill was to ensure you buy the correct dimensions. I can't remember what the name of the product is that i used to hold the mesh in place, but it was a putty that self hardens as it drys. I only used one tube, but could have done with 2 really. This was also bought from Halfords. As for attaching the front number plate, i used some very strong double sided sticky tape, and it was held on very firmly. I didn't make a guide as i was in a rush to get the job done, so i can't help with a step by step guide i'm afraid.
  2. is wondering if a car forum needs status updates like facebook?

  3. I've seen a 130 TDI with a R32 badge on it!! :eek::rotz:
  4. Not a cover. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rain_(Supa_Dupa_Fly)
  5. VW were offering a choice of badges in the UK if bought new (i don't know how long this went on for) as a friend requested his TDI 150 to be badged GTI. Personaly i would have preffered the TDI badge as they were just as quick in real time driving, making it slightly more annoying for the petrol GTI owners
  6. I know, i was meaning that it looked the same as the 180bhp GTI Petrol and was badged the same. I opted for the SEAT Leon 150 as i prefered the look (and price) over the Golf
  7. PSA have been sharing engines with BMW and Ford recently, and although the engines have been pretty good, they could be used in better chassis than anything Pug have provided. They either make a great car but stick a feeble engine in, or get a great engine and let it down everywhere else.
  8. There might be one less on the road now, making it rarer than it was in 05
  9. The Golk MK IV was a tough one to get right. I know people who had them badged as just a GTI, but also seen TDI on them, and a few GT TDI... Unless you could see smoke coming from them, or heard the engine ticking over, it was nearly impossible to tell if they were petrol or diesel, and if they were the 180/150 or 130.
  10. If its not wrapped around a tree or stolen, its worth more as they become fewer. Its probably the best example of that car in the world, and a collector will pay that sort of money for it.
  11. Pug DID put a GTI badge on a diesel car. The 206 top spec diesel was known as the GTI HDI, and the model below it was the Sport. I took both for a test drive 2 years ago when the ex wanted one, and she settled for a Sport simply because the GTI wasn't worth the extra money spec wise, and the engine was the same (1.6 16v HDI 110bhp). But even the Petrol GTI's of late have been pretty lame in comparison to other brands offerings. Pug ALWAYS seem to offer less power than rivals, and over price their cars. IMO its not a sad day at all, it just means that there will be less 'wannabe' hot hatches on the road with the well known GTI badge that they never really earned.
  12. Even if it sits 5ppl higher, you still fill up less as it gets you further.
  13. I intend to give trading standards a call tomorrow. If they refuse to honour the claim then I should get a refund on the grounds that my service history voids their policy. If they refuse a refund, then they should honour the claim. Somehow I don't think it will be this simple.
  14. I called them to cancel on Monday and was told that I couldn't because I'd made a claim. After I argued the point that no claim had been authorised, I hadn't officialy made a successfull claim, I was told Somebody would me back that day and I'm still waiting for a call. So I can't win. They won't honour a claim and won't let me cancell either.
