  1. Hi Guys, sorry for the very late reply but i sold the Fabia and Bought a Mondeo ST just after xmas, so very rarely come on here anymore. The Plastic removal was straight forward really. I removed the front bumper, got that ghastly number plate holder off and the very carefully cut away the plastic that the number plate holder was attached to using a stanley knife with a brand new blade. It sounds daunting but it was actually very easy and with some patience you can do it neatly. The mesh is just the ripspeed stuff that halfords sell. Can't recall the exact size, but you might want to measure the gap where the grill was to ensure you buy the correct dimensions. I can't remember what the name of the product is that i used to hold the mesh in place, but it was a putty that self hardens as it drys. I only used one tube, but could have done with 2 really. This was also bought from Halfords. As for attaching the front number plate, i used some very strong double sided sticky tape, and it was held on very firmly. I didn't make a guide as i was in a rush to get the job done, so i can't help with a step by step guide i'm afraid.
  2. is wondering if a car forum needs status updates like facebook?

  3. I've seen a 130 TDI with a R32 badge on it!! :eek::rotz:
  4. Not a cover. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rain_(Supa_Dupa_Fly)
  5. VW were offering a choice of badges in the UK if bought new (i don't know how long this went on for) as a friend requested his TDI 150 to be badged GTI. Personaly i would have preffered the TDI badge as they were just as quick in real time driving, making it slightly more annoying for the petrol GTI owners
  6. I know, i was meaning that it looked the same as the 180bhp GTI Petrol and was badged the same. I opted for the SEAT Leon 150 as i prefered the look (and price) over the Golf
  7. PSA have been sharing engines with BMW and Ford recently, and although the engines have been pretty good, they could be used in better chassis than anything Pug have provided. They either make a great car but stick a feeble engine in, or get a great engine and let it down everywhere else.
  8. There might be one less on the road now, making it rarer than it was in 05
  9. The Golk MK IV was a tough one to get right. I know people who had them badged as just a GTI, but also seen TDI on them, and a few GT TDI... Unless you could see smoke coming from them, or heard the engine ticking over, it was nearly impossible to tell if they were petrol or diesel, and if they were the 180/150 or 130.
  10. If its not wrapped around a tree or stolen, its worth more as they become fewer. Its probably the best example of that car in the world, and a collector will pay that sort of money for it.
  11. Pug DID put a GTI badge on a diesel car. The 206 top spec diesel was known as the GTI HDI, and the model below it was the Sport. I took both for a test drive 2 years ago when the ex wanted one, and she settled for a Sport simply because the GTI wasn't worth the extra money spec wise, and the engine was the same (1.6 16v HDI 110bhp). But even the Petrol GTI's of late have been pretty lame in comparison to other brands offerings. Pug ALWAYS seem to offer less power than rivals, and over price their cars. IMO its not a sad day at all, it just means that there will be less 'wannabe' hot hatches on the road with the well known GTI badge that they never really earned.
  12. Even if it sits 5ppl higher, you still fill up less as it gets you further.
  13. I intend to give trading standards a call tomorrow. If they refuse to honour the claim then I should get a refund on the grounds that my service history voids their policy. If they refuse a refund, then they should honour the claim. Somehow I don't think it will be this simple.
  14. I called them to cancel on Monday and was told that I couldn't because I'd made a claim. After I argued the point that no claim had been authorised, I hadn't officialy made a successfull claim, I was told Somebody would me back that day and I'm still waiting for a call. So I can't win. They won't honour a claim and won't let me cancell either.
  15. When the policy was sold to me I was asked if the car had been serviced recently, and I explained that it had been fully serviced with cambelt and water pump change. At no point was I asked about the VAT status of the garage that did the work. That would have been the time to mention that clausein the policy.
  16. If they had mentioned it when they sold me the policy I would have declined the warranty straight away because it's worth nothing to me now. I can understand them wanting all servicing done in this way while I have a running policy, but prior to taking one out??? What's even more confusing for me, is how much difference a VAT registration would make to the level of service. Is my car less roadworthy, or more likely to break down? It's a farce and I'm really getting fed up with it all now.
  17. They have found a new way to dig their heels in now. Because the last service was done (before the policy was taken out) at Unit 18 who are not VAT registered, they are claiming the servicing hasn't met their standards! This wasn't mentioned when they phoned me to sell me the policy. Anybody on the forum work for trading standards?
  18. Not strictly true. The MPGS take over the station guard duties, but they are not trained to handle crimes or discipline. Effectively, they are freeing up the military police to do overseas duties, but only on units where the police were actually guarding these units (not many that i have seen, its normally the rest of the junior staff)
  19. I was in Norway this time last year with the marines, and i was amazed at the fitness levels of these guys. A good mate of mine recently qualified as a RM PTI. I'm led to beleive that this is one tough course. I wouldn't want to attempt it.
  20. Little update: The Garage have called and i have been up there to see the GB. Its currently in a drip tray with about 1/8th of a pint of GB oil in it There is some (hopefully) good news, and some not so good news. The box has NOT got a hole in the casing as previously thought. The oil loss was caused by a bearing FAILING (not sure which bearing, will find out later) and pushing the 'end cap' off, allowing GB oil to leak. The repair bill should be cheaper now the casing is in one peice, and the bearing that failed should be covered by the warranty due the nature at which they go wrong so quickly. The not so good news.... Both Flywheel and clutch are showing signs of wear and in need of replacement at some point. The DMF is outside of its tollerences, and there are signs of it catching the gearbox casing. The clutch has aprox 3 months of life left before issues may surface. I'm awaiting a quote for the items, and have been told that fitting will be included in the GB labour (WD foot the bill for labour if they allow the claim). I have contacted WD, who have no idea what garage has my car, and they won't accept my word for it, so the garage is going to call them (probably for the best, i can't remember half of what i was told). So fingers crossed, it should all be sorted soon.
  21. I agree, it isn't much, BUT why does he have to wait 12 months and pay when a contract user can do it the day the phone is bought for free? :thumbdwn:
  22. This is the first warranty its had outside of the 3 yr warranty from new. Paying for the work, and then claiming back isn't a problem, i'm able to borrow the money from my brother, but for a short term loan. If i can claim it back i will give it all back to him and the extra i will owe as WD take 10% for parts, and £50 excess per claim. If the gear faluire was the cause, then WD won't be able to use the '90 day FW&T' get out clause they keep mentioning, and i'll take them to small claims court if they try to.
  23. Its worth remembering that Pilots don't just fly fast jets that drop bombs! The RAF has alot of different roles for a pilot. You may have all the potential and qualities of a great pilot, but if your reaction times are below standard, you might find yourself flying a helicopter, or a cargo plane. You'll still be a pilot, but maybe not to the standards you wanted. As for the RAF police.... I've nothing bad (or good) to say about them, but i'm sure you could maybe find a better paid (and respected) role on the groundcrew side of the RAF, if you have the potential to fly Aircraft. Whatever Trade you apply for, give it plenty of thought and do some research before jumping in. I've been in 10yrs now, and although i'm one of the lowest paid trades, i still enjoy the job and lifestyle.
  24. Don't get excited about this if you have bought the handset on PAYG. My brother bought his on PAYG 2-3 weeks ago, and when he tried to unlock his, o2 said that he can't unlock it untill the handset has been owned for 12 months, and then there is a charge of £15 for the unlock code! Hardly fair considering how much he paid upfront, and the £15 monthly top ups.
