  1. Further to the above problem. Took to an auto spark I have used for years. put on his computer and came up as timing chain/belt loose or worn. Asked was it noisy on starting. Very noisy especially when starting from cold. have been quoted £250 -- £300 for a change of timing belt by a garage. does this sound right?
  2. Thanks Roottoo. Will check tomorrow. Will let you know outcome. Safe to drive without doing damage?
  3. May have been some welding as was hit. Unsure. Think is emc light. is it ok to drive. What do I need to do please. Assume limp mode is the poorer performance. will it correct itself after a while away from fumes etc. 1200cc Petrol
  4. My Fabia Mark 2 just out of body repair shop. Front and rear bumpers resprayed. Yellow engine symbol warning light on permanently when collected. Does not seem to have same power as normal. any possible connection or just a coincidence?
  5. Boot will not open. If I open back door first it will open

  7. Thanks for the reply SJ. Just back from collecting car again. Was showing spark your post. Says he had done that earlier in week. He did advise me earlier in the week that he had renewed some suspect wiring at the door. Now he has disconnected the window motor and says to try over the weekend. Process of elimination now i suppose! I know from my BT days that an intermittent fault can be a bugger to find if the meter does not indicate anything! I'll keep you posted. Peter
  8. Hi all. just to introduce myself. Fabia Mk2 2010 owner from Belfast Have Skoda Fabia Mk2 2010 for three years . shortly after purchase front windows started to operate on their own. brought it back to dealer who said it was fixed. Months later started again and has continued on and off till now. it is now at the stage where i can not lock car and leave unattended as the window operation sets off the alarm. Details of fault. The fault is preceded by a click or clicking which sounds as if coming from drivers door. The windows will then sometimes operate and sometimes not. Could be ok for months then could start again. sometimes the clicking happens when driving and other times when parked. same for windows. i have basic electrical and diy skills as i was a maintence man for BT. I have changed the window switches on both front doors but no improvement. rear windows are manual. i have been with the auto spark (who is brilliant by the way) 3 times this week. He is deeply frustrated that he can not pin down the faukt so far despite spending a lot of time on it. Hoping that someone can shed some light in the problem please!
  9. Thanks to all who replied and helped with my dire computer skills
  10. Have 2010 Fabia Estate. When going slowly over rough ground there is a knockety sound from offside front which I think is a suspension problem. Just passed MOT last week with no problems. read an old post about similar problem on mk 1 which I assume would be something similar. Mentioned bushes. Would these be gone on a car with 36k miles on the clock? is it a big job to change them. I am a reasonable DIY man. Anyone know how much garage would charge to change both sides? what should I be looking at underneath?
  11. Have gone to the Fabia posts. There are hundreds of problems and answers. How can I whittle them down to what I want about the suspension?
  12. Thanks Davy. Will take me a while to find my way around! Peter
  13. Hi all newbie here. Just read a post from Yegnold (2010) no less, about the knocking suspension on rough ground. From front offside only. I have Fabia estate 2010. Only 36000 miles and just passed MOT last week. Nothing showed up there. Interested in the post where says new bushes fitted. Where are these. Can is easily see them. Can I easily change them safely with basic skills? How much would a garage charge?
