  1. I had it again last night in my Karoq - has happened maybe 3 times in the 2 years I have owned it. I just turn the whole infotainment unit off & back on again & it clears it. Dealer told me "that just happens now & again". Like some of you have previously said - electronics can just get unusual gremlins now & then, I guess the more complex they are getting the more likely maybe? I had another issue once where the adaptive cruise control failed to work & was accompanied by a yellow triangle in the display with an exclamation mark in it. I turned off the ignition & restarted again & the problem has never occurred since. Dealer scanned the vehicle for faults during the last service & found nothing.
  2. The "A" pillar airbag is attached using strips of tape (there may be other hidden fixings too) so I VERY CAREFULLY threaded my cable behind the airbag so it would not get in the way if it ever went off. I did not interfere with the airbag at all. I couldn't remove the "A" pillar trim fully, it just wouldn't completely detach at the bottom for some reason so I didn't wanna force anything so it made getting the cable through to the fusebox difficult at first. However, I threaded a piece of stiff wire through from the top until it came out at a point below the dash where I could grab hold of it, taped the dashcam plug to it & then gently pulled it up through before carefully threading it up under the airbag & tucking it under the headliner. After I had made the connections at the fusebox there was lots of spare cable so I neatly reeled it up & cable tied it to the metal framework behind the removable panel on the left of the dash.
  3. Got the job done - a bit fiddly but not too difficult. Much as I tried I couldn't get the A-pillar trim all the way off, managed to get it off enough at the top to be able to push a length of thin plastic rod down from the top. Didn't want to force the trim any further in case I broke something - it's very tight against the dashboard at the bottom so I guess that doesn't help things? I then taped the dashcam plug to the rod so I could pull it up through again with the cable, making sure it was behind the airbag that runs behind the trim. Was just then a case of tucking the cable behind the headliner, making the connections at the fusebox end & tidying up the excess cable. I used an unused fusebox slot that is ignition-switched. Job done - very pleased with it.
  4. This is exactly the info I have been looking for. I am picking up an 18 month old Karoq tomorrow to replace my current 2013 Fabia & want to transfer my hard-wired dashcam over. From reading this article it actually looks easier than it was on my Fabia. Many thanks for posting it.
  5. I know this is an old post but I am so glad I found it. I filled my 2013 Fabia 1.2tsi DSG up last weekend & was surprised how much more fuel I got in than normal. Looking back I think I inadvertently had part of the fuel nozzle pressed against the vent button on the right hand side of the filler neck. I didn't even know it was there until I read one of these posts & checked. Over the next 4 or 5 days driving to & from work I became concerned as the gauge stayed on full for around 140 miles before it finally started to drop. I also noticed that the distance remaining display varied between 360 & 390 miles all the time until the gauge actually started to drop. I am very relieved that there wasn't a problem with either the gauge or the sender unit in the tank.
  6. Thanks for the replies guys. I checked the handbook & it definitely says that the key should only be removable when the gear lever is in Park so something isn't right somewhere. To be honest it's not a problem to me but I have a 12 month warranty on the vehicle so I might as well try to get it sorted while I can & hopefully it won't cost me anything.
  7. Good morning. Totally by accident yesterday I noticed that I could removed the ignition key from my DSG equipped Fabia when it was in neutral. As I understand it, that should only happen when in Park. It's not really a major issue to me but I do like to have things working as they should. Most of my previous vehicles would only allow key removal when in park. Any ideas why anyone?
  8. Oh I see, i'm not familiar with all the details of what cars were recalled. Amongst all the service history I have for the vehicle there is a letter from Skoda asking the previous owner to contact them to have the 34F7 work done. Maybe they just changed the gearbox oil anyway regardless of whether it needed it or not? Incidentally, out of curiosity is the mechatronics unit oil separate from the actual gearbox oil or is it combined?
  9. MIne is the 105ps (77kw). No the brakes are definitely not binding.
  10. Thanks for the advice guys. The gearbox is very smooth & I am generally pleased with the car. I am sure I will get used to it's ways over time. Was just a little worried about the slow 1-2 & 2-3 upshifts when in "D" but I am beginning to think this is just the way the box behaves. Like I said if I use manual or "S" mode all the upshifts are extremely quick so I don't think there is a problem with the clutches or anything.
  11. Good morning. I have had my 2013 Fabia 1.2tsi DSG Elegeance for a little over a month now. It has done 40,000 miles with full main dealer service history. It has the sticker in the boot to say the DSG recall work was done in 2014. I am extremely pleased with the car so far, have just done an 1100 mile round trip to Scotland & averaged 53.2mpg which I am more than pleased with. However I am after some advice on how the DSG gearbox behaves - I have driven conventional automatics for 25+ years but realize the DSG is a totally different set-up. When I set off in "D" I notice the upshifts from 1st - 2nd & 2nd to 3rd (and sometimes 3rd to 4th) are not quite as quick & sharp as they are if I use "S" mode or if I switch to manual mode & upshift. Is this normal or is there possibly an issue somewhere? It is almost as if the clutch is being allowed to slip slightly during these shifts when in "D". I am quite a sedate driver so don't tend to accelerate hard ( I must be getting older & wiser - LOL) & was told by the dealer I bought the car from that the transmission "learns" the habits of the driver over time. Maybe this might explain why the shifts seems to be slower (in "D") than when I 1st bought the car? I occasionally try "S" or manual mode just to assure myself that the shifts can occur much quicker so therefore assume the clutches are OK? I do have a very good 12 month warranty with the vehicle should I need to return to the dealer but I am hoping I don't have any need to. I hope this makes sense & someone can enlighten me on how this box should behave as this is my 1st experiance of DSG. Maybe i'm just being paranoid - I won't be at all offended if anyone says that.
  12. Thank you for that. I have just had a look at the seals on top of the doors & fortunately they look OK.
  13. Good afternoon, this is my 1st post on this excellent forum. I read with interest, the problem many Mk 1 Fabia owners have experienced with door leaks, particular the rear ones. What I am curious about is whether this problem affects the Mk 2 models as well. I have only owned my 2013 model for a couple weeks & have driven through some torrential rain in that time & have been fortunate enough to not experience any problems so far. I keep checking the floors but everything seems to be bone dry. A work colleague of mine has a 2006 Mk 1 & he has had to carry out the (much documented) job of sealing both doors with sealant to cure the problem - as well as remove the carpets to get everything dried properly. Guess i'm just being paranoid as i'm new to Skodas but would welcome opinions.
