Sadly my Scout has been damaged
Jackie-Lancs replied to Jackie-Lancs's topic in Insurance & Legal Issues
Ten days ago I got a letter from the solicitors who are suing the driver on behalf of Aviva to recover their costs. I was asked to fill a claim form to cover my costs such as my excess. I included the towing electrics with a copy of the receipt. Presume the insurers of the driver have declined responsibility.h -

Nice to see a link to Dark & White Events - been a competitor and volunteer for many years - all events well organised -
Had my Scott ESpark 720 since Nov 2017. Done 1831k, virtually all off road. Several mtb orienteering events during the winter had ice & snow. Gradually improved the firmware using Shimano updates. Tyres were upgraded to tubeless at purchase and have fitted my dropper seatpost. Spares - two sets brake pads (one because the second set became noisy despite being part worn) and replaced the chain (just) before too much wear. No sign of chain slip after the change despite a QOM blast on turbo up a steep off road climb. Otherwise only fault was crank bolts vibrating loose. I managed to lose a spring on the suspension control - was fixed in minutes without cost by the supplying shop. Sure they would have done so for anyone but I do know the mechanic through his racing and my role of British Cycling Commissaire.

FABIA ESTATE ROOF RACK OR TOWBAR RACK.
Jackie-Lancs replied to Reluct4nt's topic in Health Club's Health Club Forum
No one has mentioned that it is far easier to lift bikes onto a rear rack than onto the roof! -
Largish mileage. Ebikes put more torque through the system so wear chains more rapidly. When I was racing mountain bikes, my team leader would fit new chainset and sprockets at the beginning of the season with the cheapest compatible chain. Then replace the chain about every 6 weeks because he avoided wear to the expensive components and never had to worry about chain failure in a race. Could be an answer to your issues?
-
The high/low screws are only intended to stop the chain falling of either end of the cassette or block. Nothing to do with wear!
-
Happy to know.!
-
The length of the chain is irrelevant. The wear occurs on the pins and the chain gauges measure the change in distance across a few links between the pins.
-
As a former bike mechanic chains do not stretch. Pins wear. rollers wear and so the distance between links become greater. Never have had a poor kmc chain so suspect the old worn chain had rapidly worn the cassette. If outer & inner chain rings are ok then suggest pilot error in gear use - the fact that all gears can be selected doesn't mean that using them all is ideal. Sounds like you use middle ring regardless.

Sadly my Scout has been damaged

Got my Scout back - well repaired by RRG Bolton. Now need to chase up insurance and reclaim my excess. Tried the air con for the first time since purchase this hot weekend - obviously needs a service. -

Car being repaired under own insurance at the moment. Yet to discover information regarding the driver involved. -

No idea as the driver was being treated in the ambulance when I returned to my car. -
Octavia Scout stalling
Jackie-Lancs replied to Jackie-Lancs's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
61 plate with 80,000 miles. Manual gearbox. Most unusual is stalling whilst braking for a junction at between 15 & 20 mph. Doesn’t have stop/start as far as I know. No problems starting from stationary. -
Only had the vehicle for a month or so but am getting several engine stalls. Can occur when slowing for an intersection at rolling speeds of around 15 mph. Been driving for 60 years and not encountered the issue. My daughter has a Passat estate and has commented that that is prone to stalling.

Hate them and diverted from the product.
