  1. Yes it’s the yellow icon on the analogue speedo. Our local garage is shut on a Saturday so will get it checked out Monday morning.
  2. I would be grateful for any advice on the following please. Due to me being partially-sighted now I haven’t driven the Scout for a number of years so my wife does all the driving. During a long drive a couple of days ago my wife suddenly noticed some sort of warning light on the Speedo display. We had the Tom-Tom on and it pinged warning us that we were slightly over the speed limit. My wife thought that it was the Scout pinging and giving an audible warning notice and then she saw the light on the Speedo. The Scout didn’t actually give any sort of warning ping and it may just be purely a coincidence that she happened to notice the light when the Tom-Tom sounded. Has anybody else had this warning light and what was the solution please? I have attached a photo showing the light displayed. Thank you as always for any advice you might be able to give. Cheers, John
  3. Just calculated that I’ve used about 3 litres over 15 months, so on average 1/5 litre per month.
  4. @PetrolDave i’m not absolutely sure about the exact engine type Without looking up the details but I believe it is 185BHP if that identifies it. I did google this before posting today and there seemed to be an old thread about the same issue where members were using a similar amount of oil. I have used this oil ever since I bought the car some seven or so years ago. It was recommended to me around that time I seem to remember by other members of this forum.
  5. We’ve had our Scout now for 7 years and it sailed through its MOT again today as usual. 👍 The only thing is that it now uses a lot more oil than it once did. I mentioned this to the garage this morning and the technician told me that this was usual for this model of car and in fact one litre per month it’s not unusual. I check all the fluid levels regularly so this isn’t a major problem but the price of the oil is getting higher and higher like everything else. I have been using Castrol EDGE Professional LongLife III 5W-30 4L Engine Oil (sorry about text size change!). Is there a cheaper recommended alternative please? cheers, John
  6. How easy/difficult is it to replace the near side rear seat belt stem on the MkIII Scout estate please?
  7. I’d be grateful for your advice please. This morning on starting the car and travelling a few yards. There was a sudden beep, and an image appeared in the Amundsen Display. I can only describe the image as a picture of the car with two blue air currents going over it much like a wind tunnel. Your help will be much appreciated. Thank you.
  8. I will ask my son to change the pollen filter for me but, in the meantime is there an easily accessible air intake on the outside of the car where I can spray in some anti-bacterial air spray?
  9. Thanks everybody for the advice. I get the Scout serviced every year and I don’t remember ever being billed for a pollen filter. The car blew a fuse in January and the garage technician re-fitted the glove box cover without connecting the damper again. When I complained he didn’t even know there was a damper! As changing the pollen filter involves removing the glove box cover it’s doubtful that it has ever been replaced. Looking on YouTube it looks like a very fiddly job but my son is confident that he can do it!
  10. As my sight is failing now unfortunately I don’t drive anymore so am often in the front passenger seat these days. I have started to notice a “Sicky” smell coming out of the LH blower vent when the engine has started. The smell seems to go after a few minutes. I’d be very grateful for your advice please. Cheers, John
  11. Hi all. Unfortunately I can’t drive now as my sight is so poor. My wife does all the driving nowadays and took our dog for a walk this morning with my daughter (I stayed at home). When she got back she told me that, when she pulled out she twice got a “ping” and a message came up and disappeared again so quickly she couldn’t read it properly as she was concentrating on the road but it mentioned “workshop” in the tex. We rang out local mechanic who said to bring it in and he would check it out on his computer. He said that his software indicated something to do with the auto gear box but couldn’t be more specific but to see if it happens again. It could well be the same issue as the subject of this thread. If it is this same problem is our car safe to drive? Cheers, John
  12. Many thanks for that but will that still leave the Amundsen SatNav display showing?
  13. I hope you are all well. It’s probably in the manual but buried somewhere so I would be grateful for your advice please…. Both my wife and I always use the digital speed display on the Maxidot. We have the Amunden Entertainment System but don’t normally use the built-in SatNav function as we use a TomTom. The other day my son, who was in the passenger seat, decided to turn on the SatNav function to see where we were whilst my wife was driving but this had the effect of also changing the Maxidot display which panicked her as she had suddenly lost the normal speed display! I know that you can get the Maxidot speed display back via the steering wheel switches but my wife isn’t confident about doing that whilst in motion so can the SatNav system be set up to not effect the Maxidot display? Cheers, John
  14. Thank you for that advice. As you suggest I’ll get in touch with a local specialist re the tear. I must admit that I’ve never treated the leather seats with anything in the 3 years I’ve had the Scout. Can you recommend a good product for cleaning/feeding the leather please?
  15. Hi everybody I noticed a few days ago that the front black leather passenger seat has developed a small tear in the leather along the outside edge where it meets the beading. I think it has been caused by passengers scuffing the seam as they get in and out and it’s only going to get worse. It has pulled away from the stitching. Can this be repaired easily or would it need to have a major repair? Alternately is there a cover on the market to cover just the chair back? Cheers, John
