  1. Hi, I have a 1.5TSI MHeV with KESSY. The car sits on my driveway only a few yards from where I usually sit in the Lounge. Unless I put the keys into Faraday Pouches the 12v system warns me of 'Low Voltage' after about a week! AFAIK if the car senses the keys are near it waits in readiness to unlock the doors and also keeps the door handles 'Active'. This keeps the car 'Awake', thus preventing it from fully 'Sleeping' therefore draining the 12v system.
  2. Hi, I have a 2024 Octavia 1.5 TSI E-Tec and have had occasional 'Low 12v' warnings even though the car had been driven for an hour or so the day before. I eventually worked out that it was related to the 'KESSY' system - The car is parked on our driveway only a few yards from where I sit in the house. Whilst carrying a set of keys in my pocket and moving around the house, the car kept on 'Energising' the doorhandles etc. Thus it never really 'Went to sleep'. I found that even after a full charge the 12v warning could appear after only a week of normal driving. The solution was to put the keys in 'Faraday Pouches' when not needed! A shame this is not mentioned in the Manual! I hope this helps, kind regards, Alan
  3. Hi again, no I bought an early 2024 model pre facelift. Cheers, Alan
  4. I had a manual 2020 1.5 TSI Octavia with the same 'Feature' which I got around by waiting for the engine to warm up slightly whereupon the rpm falls to just below 1,000 and the car drives away smoothly. This 'Feature' was somewhat present at whatever ambient temperature and/ or engine temperature - I just waited with engine idling until the rpm dropped below 1,000. Perhaps the engine needs one or other sensor to reach optimum temperature for emission purposes? I now own a 2024 1.5 TSI DSG E-Tec which no longer exhibits this trait (Which used to called 'The Kangaroo'! It may be a combination of the DSG box and the (Small) amount of battery-assist, but this engine/ gearbox combination results in a very smooth drive at all times.
  5. Hi, it sounds a little like relays clicking? as above, perhaps related to charge/ discharge cycles of the 48V battery related? I have a 24 plate e-Tec MHEV which does not make any such noises - Worth a word with the Dealer I think! BTW, if you don't mind my asking, what tyre pressures do you run please? I am using those stated on the Fuel Flap (2.6 front, 2.8 rear) which seems to result in a harsh ride?
  6. Hi yes, I have taken tread depth readings across the tyre width now and will monitor for abnormal wear. The car is also called into Skoda for regular 'health checks'
  7. Thanks to everyone who has responded thus far. I have reduced the tyres to 2.2 Bar all round - A brief drive around the City and then A483 has yielded a much mor compliant ride, it seems more stable over the lumps and bumps around here and still returning 57 ish to the gallon around town. Kind regards Alan
  8. Hi PetrolDave, as far as I can find out (I have PDFs of the manuals) then the MK3 Diesel was the heaviest at 1322 kg, the MkIV E-Tec weighs in at 1313 kg and the MkIV I previously owned is 1268 kg Operating Weight. So, yes, the E-Tec seems to weigh approx. 45 kg more than the standard 1.5 TSI, but the Mk3 is 9 kg heavier still! I ran both the Mk3 and my previous MkIV at 2.2 Bar all round with no apparent detriment to the Tyres (The fronts had covered 48,000 miles and were still legal when I part exchanged the car for my current model
  9. Hi and thanks for your input, my Diesel Octy had the same wheel and tyre size as my current one, namely 205 R55 17. I will try dropping the pressure - the roads in North Wales are full of uneven tarmac repairs and potholes!
  10. Hi and thanks for your swift response to my question. I suppose I am worried about the legality of driving on pressures lower than those on the fuel flap?
  11. Hi I have recently purchased an early 2024 mk4 Octavia 1.5 TSi SEL e-tec and find that the recommended tyre pressures seem too high? 2.6 Bar front and 2.8 Bar rear lightly loaded (According to the fuel flap). (205/55VR17 MICHELIN Cross Climate 2) Bearing in mind my mk3 Diesel Octavia was somewhat heavier but ran 2.2 Bar all round! Driving with these pressures result in a very harsh ride indeed, the car feels 'Bouncy' over rough tarmac. I was wondering if anyone out there had decided to lower their tyre pressures accordingly please? Kind regards Alan
  12. Hi again, yes it all started last week following a prolonged wait at a car wash! I was using the stop-start system (For once) which operated say half a dozen times with smaller 'Stop' intervals as time went on. That evening I noticed the first rear parking sensor 'Glitch' Over the next day or so the parking sensors' operation became more intermittent until last Sunday the system began 'Flashing' and telling me to clean the rear sensors! Rear Sensors - Made with Clipchamp.mp4 (See video) before finally refusing to work. The error clears itself when the engine turns off and only returns upon selecting reverse gear. As stated previously, if I fully charge the battery and then start the car, all sensors work as they should, until I have driven for a mile or so after which the 'Clean the rear sensors' error comes back.
  13. Hi Gabbo, There are no accessories plugged in anywhere. I would like to think that the battery should still be ok after 4.5 years, but it was just tested at my local garage, the result was <80% power and 12.1 V after charging. It should also be noted that there is a lot of Sulphate residue which is slowly dissolving the retaining strap on top.
  14. Hi PetrolDave, thanks for the information, very interesting. I am of the age that I can still remember DC generators on cars, some with 6v electrics! I have just had the battery tested by a local garage, result was the battery had <80% capacity with a 'Resting' voltage of <12.2 V. I am assuming that one or more cells may be failing. I was quoted £200 for a new EFB, but will see what Skoda say! I am tempted to save the Dealership diagnostics charge to investigate the Rear sensor issue and just replace the almost five year old battery anyway and see what happens to the sensors! Bearing in mind that they work immediately after the battery has been fully charged but not after driving around for a few miles.
  15. Hi Warrior193, thanks for your reply. The car is a straightforward 1.5TSI ICE. It is due to be looked at by Mitchells of Chester next week, (All in Service Warranty) I will point them in the direction of battery capacity! (Understanding that a battery is not a warranty item)
  16. Hi varaderoguy, thank you for your swift response. The car is going to Mitchells Skoda (Chester) next week under the 'All in service' warranty. I will 'Point' them in this direction (I appreciate that the battery is not a warranty item) I was relieved to see that the sensors still worked as expected, albeit one time only following charging!
  17. Firstly, I apologise but I have just posted this in the MkIII Section in error! Hi, I was wondering what voltage to expect across the battery terminals on idle please? Last week my rear sensors advised that they needed cleaning and that manoeuvre braking no longer worked. All sensors were clean. Reading some comments on this forum I decided to charge the battery overnight. Upon selecting Reverse for the first time following engine start everything worked as expected. Subsequent selections of Reverse lead to the 'Clean Sensors' etc. warning. I have measured 13.0v across the battery terminals whilst idling - Is this normal? I was expecting closer to 14v. Could there be a cell failing - The battery is the original from 2020. Any thoughts please? Kind regards Alan

  19. Hi, I have a 2020 1.5 TSI mk4 Octavia. I too have to wait a few moments after cold starting until the revs drop to 900 rpm (Otherwise the car kangaroos). Regarding the noise, it could be a hole or break in a plastic pipe connector(s) in the EVAP system, which is located under the plastic engine cover. It is a recognised fault by Skoda and mine started at about 4 years and 55,000 miles - BTW this has no effect upon cold start kangarooing! Good luck!
  20. Ok shame! Thanks for your help once again Alan
  21. Hi 'The Wanderer' and thank you for your help. Successfully changed the email address and password. Can I also change my Skoda ID please? Cheers, Alan
  22. Hi, I was wondering how to change my login email address please? I have looked through the mobile app but cannot find the option! Cheers Alan
  23. Hi, to be honest I am not sure, with the USB stick in place with map version 23/12 the the unit advised that an update was available the following morning. I said yes and there it was (After an hour or so). The latest version of 24/6 was plugged in for a week with seemingly nothing happening. I unplugged and re-inserted the USB stick and within a day or do, the map database was updated to 24/6. It all seems a bit 'Random'!
  24. Hi there, yes and no I think sums up my experience! The Service Manager admitted that he had no idea how the software update systems were supposed to integrate and work. Apparently Skoda Europe have automatic communications from car to dealership for repairs/ servicing and software updates etc. The most UK systems can do is perhaps tell the dealer about faults! It would appear that Skoda UK Dealerships require IT Managers to look after Software/ Firmware upgrades! The infotainment software is 3 updates behind which must be sequentially installed at the dealership via cable, will take at least 4 hours and is chargeable! I am still 'Negotiating' from the viewpoint that these updates should have been routinely installed whilst the car was being serviced etc. The Nav Maps I have finally updated manually via the Skoda Portal and are now 24/6 i.e. June 2024. I will now check on the Portal every few months or so. I have done some further 'Googling' and have come up with the following information.: - The Data Connection e-sim should be enabled and used by default, unless there is no phone signal from any provider. If the e-sim cannot connect then WiFi should be enabled (Which disables the e-sim) which 'Piggy-backs' on any WiFi signal the car is exposed to, be it from another vehicle or of domestic/ business origin. In either case, if wireless Android Auto is required then the car's WiFi Hotspot must be enabled.
  25. Hi again, I can confirm that with WiFi off and e-sim on I can still connect to the car via the App and refresh the data, what I cannot do is connect my Phone via wireless Android Auto (Should I so wish) this seems to require the WiFi to be on. Interestingly, with Wifi on (And e-sim off) I can still access the car via the app, refresh data and 'Honk and Flash' even when parked up in the middle of nowhere with fields all around me! The car is off to Mitchells Skoda next week for a service, whilst there I will ask some pertinent questions and ask for updates to be applied. Cheers Alan
