  1. To be honest, I find your manner a bit arsey and there's absolutely no need for it. People like you are why many folk don't like to use forums anymore... First of all, these are the wheels that came on the car... the Extreme 19s... I didn't change them I have never had to change tyres on the Octavia so purely asking for the *best* tyre option that is recommended by those who have already tried and tested tyres. Because I don't have a crystal ball and don't actually know what the best tried and tested tyre is for this specific Octavia. I said I don't want budget tyres, cost is not an issue. But as any normal human being I also don't want to pay more than I have to and will always try and get a decent deal... I am well aware of the purpose of tyres and that if you buy budget you'll get budget performance Every other person was able to be helpful and I thank the rest of you for your input. In future @wardth , don't bother commenting on my threads please. All the best
  2. Hi All! I know this has probs been asked a million times and I did attempt to use the search function before asking this but seen so many mixed reviews for all different Octavias. I am now at the point where I'm needing two new front tyres. What would you recommend going for on the 19 inch wheels? Don't want hideously expensive but also don't want anything budget. Need good longevity, got 15k miles out my two fronts so don't know whether to just stick with the P Zeros? I had PS3s on my Fiesta and also tried Rainsport 3s and quite liked both but as it's a completely different car so wanted some experienced opinions if possible Thanks in advance x
  3. Thanks everyone for your responses, we won't be going out on the bikes tooooo often so don't want anything massively expensive. Will look into the roof rack idea and see what I can get for the hatch
  4. Hellooo Wondering if anyone can help or has any info on bike racks for the mk3 hatch - the boyf had a saris bones "universal" one but it didn't fit, the spoiler was posing issues Anyone got one that fits properly or knows of one that does? Want to start taking the bikes out in the summer time thanks in advance!
  5. Thanks everyone - genuinely never seen this before in my life and had no idea! Would definitely be better on the passenger side I feel though... But if it's supposed to be there then I will just leave it there honestly thought it was maybe something left on by mistake when the car had been delivered much appreciated everyone!
  6. I picked up my brand new Octavia just over a month ago and it's been annoying me ever since but I've never actually done anything about it. There is a clear piece of plastic a few inches long and an inch wide popping out of the drivers side A pillar across the windscreen. Looks like it may have been some sort of holder for a card when the car was being booked in or something? I've had a few new cars and literally never seen this before though. Anyone any ideas? And how on earth can I get rid of it?
  7. Thanks everyone! Will deffo look into all of these and will let you know what I go for in the end
  8. Where we are we literally don't see any Rallye Green - Octavia or Fabia (see a lot of blues tho)! Which I why I decided to go for that colour (and it was obv my favourite haha!) but I must say I do prefer the hatch. An estate would be far too big for me for a start as I don't really even need the extra space that this car gives me! But different strokes I guess part of me does wish the spoiler was a bit more aggressive looking though... Guy at the dealership said that most people that buy from him really hate the green which is probably why we never see any
  9. @malcster this is awesome thank you! I will do everything by hand - I don't have any experience using a machine so would not like to try my hand at it! I must say I'm not as anal as a lot of people when it comes to cleaning but I do enjoy getting a good shine and seal on it so that when I give it a blast with water between polishes that it still has a coat on. If you have any tips on how an amateur detail could be done then it would be much appreciated - I usually do a decent wash but not sure how up to scratch my technique is in comparison to others, usually do snow foam, shampoo, tar remove any bits that need (wheel clean in there somewhere as well) then polish and two coats wax - but any tips on how I could improve would be much appreciated. The paint on the car is still good as I've only washed it once to get bird poo and other nonsense off but not done a proper clean yet as waiting to do it properly with new equipment
  10. Helloooo So I know that obviously there are a billion different waxes you can use on any paint and I've tried loads in the past that have been specific for dark shades back when I had a dark blue car so has anyone had any experience in waxes/polishes that make green glean the best? I've used Autoglym, Poor Boys, Dodo Juice etc in the past but just wondering if anyone can recommend something specific or very good for this car? Any help would be much appreciated ...with the weather looking a bit better it's deffo getting into car cleaning season so I need to be prepared
  11. Cleaned the car at the weekend and been driving around all nice and shiny for the past week as the weather has been relatively okay! Driving to work today through a small town and overtake a lorry dropping off a delivery when I heard a hideous noise like something hit my car (thought something had possibly come off the lorry) and to my sheer horror I look at the passenger side of the windscreen and see I have taken a beating from a squadron of seagulls! Bloody vermin have royally **** all over my car, got the screen wash onto it straightaway and that actually cleared most of it. So got out when I arrived at work to get the rest off the top of the windscreen with a cloth I had and I retorted yet again seeing that in fact my roof, windscreen, whole bonnet, headlight and wing was covered in ****! No exaggeration! Every bird in the fleet must have taken a **** at the same time, aiming for my beautiful shiny green car you would honestly think they do it on purpose! Wish it was legal to take them all out... And although I've managed to get most of the **** off already, at least it's another excuse to clean the car again this weekend
  12. I love the Meteor Grey, it's a beautiful colour but I just came from the Storm Grey Fiesta ST200, which is v similar so decided to go for something different
  13. Hellooo It's not much of a project thread per say but just somewhere I want to keep photos of the car and the minor things I'm gonna do with her Showroom pic the day I picked her up Only done some minor stuff so far, nothing cosmetic, just stuff that needed doing! So got my 2 channel Blackvue dashcams fitted over the weekend with minimal hassle thankfully! Only took me around an hour and a half to get the whole lot installed, which meant pulling off panels of a one week old car (danger ) but with the amount of lunatics on the road you can't be too safe! Then gave her a quick clean (can't wait until I can get the proper snow foam and wax out when the weather picks up some more!) and popped on the pressed private plates also, picked up some Team Heko wind deflectors Really pleased with the car as it stands tbh so I don't see me doing anything major but I will be cleaning it loads and will get my club stickers on
  14. They are a really tight fit, but I used a tool on my swiss army knife and tape the end with electrical tape so that it didn't leave any marks and managed to prise it off! It still took a bit of time and it did sound like it made a cracking noise when the clips popped out but it was absolutely fine, and went back on a treat as well!
  15. Thanks everyone for your advice! Went ahead and fitted my blackvue cameras today (2 channel) - managed to get the power magic pro hooked up quite easily using a couple of piggy back fuses. Was surprised how easy it was to get everything set up and running through the car to the rear camera as well! Only problems were that bloody glovebox going back in (surprisingly fiddly for me haha) and there was originally no power getting to the rear camera but reset the system and now everything is running perfectly! Did as you suggested @Mike97 and pulled that black trim off and etched a notch in the plastic (much better than drilling a hole larger than needed!) - was tough to get it off as mentioned but got there in the end Thanks again!
