  1. Many thanks again for all the replies. Hey, look forward to the final evidence Skomaz, cheers! 🍻 👏 I'm 5' 10" or 5' 9", so it's not sounding hopeful for a good old mk 1 estate. I think a honda Jazz can just about make a 5' 9" but would rather a bit more overall space of the fabia or just go for the all round useful Octy.
  2. Oh gawd! I had weird mobile browser problems and couldn't send a new topic. But seems OK now. Thanks for all the help. Still would like any fabia estate mk1 or mk2 owners to chip in too. There is one but its 90min drive away. Thought might be a video with all these crazy car campers in. Don't want to build a bed for it. Just seats down and a little fold up thin air mattress. Cos would have kids in a lot. Just want to instant kip on the hoof. Of course octa up but they are t2ice the price and more thirsty probably. There is a fabia mk1 estate elegance top notch for 1500
  3. Hi there, can't find the fabia estate "internal dimensions" combi 6y anywhere. d So be great iyou guys can confirm before I buy one? and weron 1.6e great fun apart from dpf problems I hahatches d the mk1 and mk2 f
  4. Many thanks for the replies. I have never seen the dpf light in just the cool used to flash sometimes then replaced injector and then very rarely. But now the glow plug coil light is constantly flashing. So it seems that it could be the egr valve. I only saw MAF and dpf sensor come up with the free 5min diagnostic at another local garage. So what about just blanking it off and have a remap? Legal? expensive? as the exhaust will be hotter and the dpf will work better? There is a remapping expert and also another Garage is VAG specialist in Pembrokeshire where I am. The egr valve part seems about £240 approx. Maybe clean it is an option. So 5hours labour on top is £150 around here. The dealers seem to charge as much as poss reading on the forums. A keen local garage would be better, i will ask about the VAG specialist. And check with my usual honest garage if they have done an egr. Seems a hard location to get to the egr. Will look at coolant level, re the position sensor and internal seal failure. I am in mid house move and can book it in with my friendly local for a scan and then go after a few quotes with the car work enquiries. Cheers for all your opinions it's very valuable to get specilaised advice
  5. Thanks for the pointers everyone. Much appreciated! Moving this weekend and will be free then to book it in next week. Is a dealer the way to go (about 25miles away on small rural roads or can a smaller local (and cheaper) garage do an egr I wonder? A local garage could prob give me a quote and let me know if they can do it after looking at the diagnostic report. So could be blocked egr or dpf, faulty dpf sensor or miscellaneous I guess. Still got to do about another 100miles for work. Will let you know how it goes, cheers again.
  6. Hello all, Any advice to get out of limp mode and back into a smooth running car again please? I am a diesel newbie. Petrol fabia was amazing for 50k miles and cost just a grand. Only light on ever, was a flashing coil light. Constantly on now. It's a 2010 1.6 tdi 105hp CAYA cr 80K miles (non emissions fixed) had a faulty injector and replaced it (also got a spare 3 used ones too if needed) Been stuck in limp mode for a few days now. Not sure if I can do a forced regen myself? Looking at getting the Carista Bluetooth dongle of eBay for the diagnostics monitoring and get an app for the phone. I already did about 25mins thrashing without slowing down 3 times now. An hour really with odd interruption. Maybe needs a longer hard thrash at 2.5k revs at 50mph. very rural here no motorways for an hour. But could be good to blast it for hours. Don't know if there's a danger of overheating anything though. I am moving house this week so that takes priority, to pack and get moved out this weekend. I read it can't do an active regen if there is some kind of fault code showing. Does it needs a vag com diagnostics forced regen? Can i reset the faults with the Carista diagnostics dongle and then the dpf could do an active regen? Garage said foot to the floor at 2.5k at 50mph should sort it, after a 5min diagnostic. All I could see was a dpf sensor fault and maf fault iirc. Thank you all for any pointers!
  7. Quick Google search about the software recall and I won't be having the fix. As it tries to make the emissions lower but egr etc can't handle it. So keep it as it is. Still wonder why injector short circuited. Perhaps just wear and tear after 75k?
  8. Yes it needs the fix. Thanks never knew about this before. And an independent garage has ordered a new injector as one was short circuiting. Any ideas why? Maybe was when blockage in injectors from the tank when fuel ran low?
  9. Garage just said diaganostics os showing that the group A injectors are faulty and just one of the paid is short circuiting and only when gets to certain revs. About £300 to replace one. Might be two need replacing but hopefully one will fix it. Dpf is fine. He will order injector now. Amy other advice about this as basicly wanting to save money and also get the best solution obviously. Really appreciate all your experience as this is only my second car after my trusted thirsty petrol fabia
  10. Thanks for all the help again. Iy is with a mechamic and i don't know if they have diagnostics But will phone them soon. They eill check the air filter. I haven't been able to check the VIN as moved and mislaid the log book. I will ask the mechanic for it from the car. The emissions fix is something inhale not heard of before. I had a fabia petrol and it was so reliable did 50k and was perfect. If thirsty. Hopefully when this is sorted either dpf or egr clean or gets the fix. I will keep it well revved to be on top of the dpf. The alarm is very intermittent and onky once a month or so and xoukd be a mew battery specifically for that will sort it. It was an old guy who owned it apparently nefore the part exchange. So will see whay the garage say soon
  11. Hi all, thanks for your commemts. I have only had it a few months and was bought privately. I live out innrhe wilds of West Wales. It is now in a trusted local garage. I wonder if it could be an EGR valve fault? The dpf light was not on. I should of checked the air filter before taking it in.. It was not able to get up hills and had to run it back down the hill luckily at 4am on country roads and after 30 min could get up them. A couple of months ago the dpf had read onky a partial block. I have not done regular hour long journeys for about a month and do usual 15min low revs welly journeys now. So will do regular monthly 3000rpm 20 min trashes
  12. Any advice really welcome please, thanks very much in advance. I have to rev it over 2000rpm to get up hills or it stalls. Last week the engine wouldn't start on hills when was very hot, then after changing the fuel filter, it was better but lots of juddering and loss of power up hills. Thought cooling fan didn't come in but it did after 30min doing injector cleaning process after I did a liqui moly injector purge today but it made no difference. After the engine cooled I just managed to get up a hill. I guess a blocked air filter would not cause it? Problems started after I ran the tank low but they cleared after about a month. Then this started happening out of the blue 2 months later. So I have just changed the fuel filter and done the injector purge but I don't know what to do now? It has no service history except what i just listed. So no emissions fix whatever that is for (dpf?) (Thank you Ofski)
  13. Hello Fabia owners, Before taking the car to the local garage and their efforts to fix it, I wanted to know what was most likely to need replacing or repairing? Or any likely causes? Does it need a new thermastat? I waterpump is bringing on coolant when I start it. Basically I drove it on the hottest day today idled at roadworks for 5 minutes then would not start as engine was so hot. Waited an hour and was fine and drove for 15minutes all fine. Thanks in advance.
  14. this site stocks the part i bought and says it is compatible with a 1.6tdi 2010 fabia, rare for it to be 176mm high though as opposed to most at 110-135mm https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/topran-2725679.html
