  1. I Have the same issue, had since i got the car (VRS245 MY17) it went in for its first year service and i asked them to take a look and oil the mirrors, i was told they don't do this as the oil would attract dirt and grit and make it worse but they would have a look, after having it most of the day when i picked it up they said they didn't have time and i would have to come back, i'm an hours drive a way so haven't arranged anything yet although i will have to go back at some point to fix the stop start that they failed to fix this time, anyway i was just looking this week to get some silicone spray and have a go myself, good to know i'm not alone with this issue.
  2. Not sure if its the same over in UK but in Australia for every year the car is serviced by Skoda the breakdown cover carries on for that year until the end of the warranty period, 5 years for us in AU.
  3. HI Ash, i've not noticed anything like that on mine but i have the 245 with the 7 speed, i'm assuming you have the RS with the 6 speed? but what i do get is a jumpy kick when down shifting from 3rd to 2nd if the engine breaking. i just put it down to a DSG's quirk.
  4. + 1 for it, great for opening up the inside with natural light and the kids love it but i didn't pay extra for it and i wouldn't if had to option it, my'n was was ex demo with it, so as others have said if you can get one without paying the extra as an option go for it.
  5. The driver side door has the removable cover, depends if you drive a left or right hand car, the reference to LHD & RHD is to determine which way the key is inserted.
  6. i've found that if i pull up really slowly with a very light braking the engine will still run even when stopped, once stopped if i then push the brake down firm the engine will cut out or if i know i'm going to go again i'll keep the engine running. to cut the engine out when i stop i using a firm brake and it always cuts out then. and yes i have the stop start issue, i believe its a firmware issue on the early models but cant be bother to go the dealer yet.
  7. I have a 245 and cringe when i hit a pot hole with the noise it makes, but the ones over here are noting compared to that one, that's just something else..
  8. The other side of the world..$660 full comp (360 Quid approx), full no clams discount, $200 execs
  9. My 245 get a bit of attention but i'm in Australia and most people over here don't even know what a Skoda is
  10. Not tried it without so can’t compare sorry, my car was ex-demo so came with all the stuff anyway
  11. It’s a subtle difference but there is one, try sport in a corner then comfort. Comfort does make a difference on long journeys and bump roads
  12. Unfortunately there aren't that many detailer's by me and most offer the Opti-Coat, i did have a chat with another one today and they said 2 days, 1 to clean and decontaminate and they will do a full paint correction and the second day to apply and bake on, slightly more expensive but sounded like he would do a proper job. i will do a bit more searching and see if anyone is offering the Gtechnic or Gyeon and what there prices are first. Never really thought about the wrap Damo but i'll check that out as well. Thanks again for the comments and advice.
  13. Thanks Pittsy What i know about paint correction you could write on a postage stamp but even i was surprised buy how quick they said they could do it and this is a reputable business that was full of top end cars hence the post for some advice.
  14. Hi All Has anyone had any dealings with paint protection in particular Opti-Coat Pro +, having had my car now for 6 months (VRS 245) i have noticed a few scratches and how easy they seem to happen on the paint. i've also read a few posts stating how thin the paint is on Skodas in general and this might be a good investment to add that extra layer of a hard coat on top. The thing that concerns me though is there are lots of articles about water spots and etching on the coating if you don't dry the car properly after washing and how hard they are to remove after, if you look into the Opti-Coat care instructions its recommended to wash the car no less that 2 weekly intervals, now i do wash my car regularly but i don't want to add this coating only to have to treat it like a baby, I get its no magic formula to make my care maintenance free but i dont want to be wiping off bird poo and every spot of water within 2 seconds because im worried it'll affect the coating or warranty. There is a company that is offering me a stage one paint correction and Pro + coating (2 coats) with 7 year warranty for $1k ( 550 Quid approx) so not cheap, i expected this to be done over a couple of days to De-contaminate and clean, paint correction and application but was told it would be done within 1 day and they usually have done by lunch but pick up at 5, i though this stuff needed time to cure? or is it really done that quick? I'm a little confused at the mo so any help or advice is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
