  1. Hi all, am looking for some valued opinions beyond the online valuations.

I'm having to let my beloved L&K go due to Co Car policy. She's close to 98k miles, but running great with FDSH inc belt/water pump service last year and tracking done 12m ago. Still delivers 700-800 miles per tank with long term 'onboard' efficiency of 57-59mpg.

Everything original, no modifications, no accidents, no rust, not engine mods etc.  Alloys will benefit from a refurb, but that's it.

What with inflation and varying views on EVs, what do you think this car is worth. It won't be a trade in because we're all moving to salary sacrifice lease at work.

    Thoughts appreciated.

  2. Got the same problem myself on a 2017 SIII hatchback. A friend of mine was able to fix it late last year with a tiny hook tool but it went again.

It's quite clear that there is a latent defect with this part of the car based on the frequency of comments and I am skeptical about the dealer's lack of awareness.

My friend said he didn't want to touch it again in case it is a sign of the internal mechanism going brittle and breaking completely.  I have an extended service due in approx 1k miles so likely to ask them for a look and see what the £damage is before doing much more. Mind you, who knows how long it will take me to do £1k miles right now.

  3. I received the following reply from Skoda when I raised a similar query about my own (closed) dealership/service centre:

"Any issues that would normally be covered by your warranty will still be covered provided you have reported the fault to your ŠKODA Retailer within the warranty period. If your Retailer is closed due to COVID-19 and so you cannot report the fault, we have recorded your notification and you now have a reference number which can be passed to your repairing Retailer when they reopen to accept bookings. However, please note, existing warranty periods will not be extended, also any warranty claim will be dependent on a full diagnosis to confirm whether the fault is warranty defect or not."

Finally I got fed up with the squeaky rear wiper, it was really driving me mad.

So changed it for a Bosch Aeroblade (A403H), £9.50 from a trader on eBay.

The instructions  suggests it’s a 15 second job. And believe it or not, it was!

Just hope it cures the noise, if not it’s only £9.50..

Out of interest, the same wiper was on special offer at Halfords for £12.99 plus postage (or a special trip to a local branch to do click and collect..)

Well done. One of the best upgrades available :)

  5. Definitely sounds like regeneration to me. I'm a high miler and its happening a couple of times a week too. You can generally tell its happening when start/stop doesn't work even though you know the car has had/is in the middle of a very good run.  The fan can also run on after stopping the car at home to complete the cycle.

  6. Hi there,

Just taken ownership of two 2017 Skodas for the house, a Fabia Colours Edition Hatch and a Superb L&K Hatchback. A great

This will be my second Superb. Owned an Elegance Estate back in 2010 and it left its mark on me such that I bought the most recent hatchback without even test driving it.

Anyways, I was a visitor to Brisoda back in the day, but never signed up previously. No excuses now!!

    See you around the Forums!
