  1. i have the BXE engine. I have no idea the diffrences when it comes to changing the turbo on bls vs bxe, but i assume most of the work should be the same. Do u have the turbo thats once piece with the manifoild or the kind that can be taken off of the manifoild? Mine is one piece with the manifoild. Sure that sounds good, i appriate help and i will try help you as good as i can, but until i start i dont really have much knowlegde on what to do.
  2. No not yet, hopefully i will have time to do it during the christmas holidays.
  3. Hiya Folks Blew my turbo a while ago and got a used turbo today for my car. Thinking of starting to work on it within a few days. Im dreading this job cuz i have heard and read its awfully tight to get around to some of the screws on the 4x4. Im hoping someone who has done this on a 4x4 before has some advice to offer on how i should go about it to make it easier on myself. From what i understand i can do most of the work from up top, but theres a bolt or two i have to take out from below, is that correct? I have also read that some say u have to take the subframe out, and others say you have to loosen the transfer case to access the bolts u need from below, others say none of this is necessary, so i wonder whats really correct? obviously i dont want to take anything more off than what i absolutely need, unless its something that makes the job a whole lot easier. I wish i knew the turbo was on its last legs when i changed the flywheel a couple of months ago, but i guess this is how it goes. Also i need to flush my intercooler system, any tips on how i go about doing that, what do i use to flush it with? i assume the intercooler need to come out to do this properly? Thanks in advance for your help and tips
  4. Was doing 2nd gear, throttled up, a weird popping sound, lost almost all power, didnt know what happened so drove it to the first place i could get off the road, hear a weird rattling noise, started smoking like crazy, oil light came on, turned engine off. Checked the tailpipe, tons of oil there. as far as i know thats right, you have to remove the manifoild. I missunderstood the mechanic, i thought i had an oddball that the turbo didnt come apart from the manifoild, but later i was told thats completely normal on these cars. Im thinkering with the idea of doing this myself since im not really in a rush to fix it, but my octavia is a 4x4 and from what im told its really a cumbersome job on these. Is it really that bad?
  5. Hi Turbo blew on my 2007 octy 2 1.9tdi, thought it was easy since the vag mechanic had several turbos in stock, but came to find out my skoda has the type that the turbo and manifoild is all in one cast. I see for my car theres a new turbo core aviable, i assume this is ment for my style turbo since it comes without housing and everything? Has anyone else delt with these type of turbos? is it fairly easy to replace the turbocore? Thanks in advance for ur help
  6. Hiya Not on mine, i can clearly hear it comes from the gearbox when it idles. If you have a noise when ur ac is on, sounds like ur ac compressor might be in trouble, but before you tear into that i would check the pulley on the belt tensioner, they go bad now and then, however i dont know if that noise would go away when u turn ac off, could be possible since its less strain on the belt.
  7. Thanks again for your answers. Seems i might be in luck, apperently a guy in town bought a new flywheel and clutch but never put it in before it got junked ,so i think i might just go that route. My skoda is a 4x4, not sure if that complicates the job by much? do you know if any write ups or videos of the job on a 4x4 with manual box? i googled but didnt find anything on my exact car Thanks again
  8. Thanks for your answer 😁 Thats a good idea and might be just what i will do, unless failure is likely in the very near future. Then it will be better to just go ahead and find another car now. Wonder how many had the flywheel fall apart lets say 3 months after the noise first was heard, has it happened that anyone is aware of?
  9. Hiya folks I got a 2006 octavia 4x4 with 1.9tdi 6 speed manual with 260 000km on it. i bought the car a little while ago as a beater, just back and forth to town. The other day i started hearing odd sounds while the car was idling, i soon found out its coming from the clutch area. So far it only makes noise, i dont feel any vibration, no pulsation on the clutch pedal, problems shifting or any of that sort. I was planning to take the car for one last inspection and get it roadworthy/legal for another 2 years, but now im not sure its worth it. I dont really drive that much, maybe like 10 000km a year, if that. I talked to a mechanic that has changed a lot of these flywheels, he said dont worry about it, he said knows many of these cars that ran for years without failing completely. Then i googled it, theres a lot of people saying "dont drive it, it will fail within short time", "change it now" etc etc... Who should i believe? Now im worried, this car isnt really worth a flywheel and clutch, not to mention the work (its getting pretty rusty) Should i just junk it now before putting any more money in it to get it to pass inspection? unfortunatly i already put some money in it to prepare for inspection or will the flywheel live on even tho it makes noises for some time still? basicly i guess im looking for it to live on another 10-20 000km Thanks in advance for your advice
