Karoq cam belt change - start saving now !
Thanks for posting info. as a matter of interest where/ how did you obtain the maintenance schedule you have quoted from? It is a useful document. whilst it is prudent to change the belt I will not rush into replacing it after only 14500miles. It’s a gamble that could go wrong, but it will be an interesting chat when I have car serviced. I know someone whose Mercedes is in for repair after cambelt failure —-£3500, ouch! I also wait with interest to see what the Which consumer mag respond

Brilliant, look forward to your investigation. On my mileage it works out at 6.5 p per mile. The more I use my bus pass, the price per mile for cambelt increases, ironic or not. I should do the 120,000 miles it’s specified to last then it would seem quite reasonable.

Karoq cam belt change - start saving now !
I have a 2018 Karoq TSI ACT, dealer want £950 for cambelt. The actual Skoda cambelt from main dealer is circa £120, double that for tensioners and all bolts replaced. At best I can understand the belt being a time related interval, but the rest?. They don’t recommend changing the wheel bearings every 5 Years!!! Sound like bad engineering. It is a shame but I really like my Karoq, but my previous Japanese cars never had this issue! I also don’t understand the timing issue. If the cams and crank is locked into position and the new belt fitted with same tooth intervals, how is the timing changed? on another forum it was posted that this cambelt interval in Germany is based only on mileage, not years. Very hard to verify. I emailed Skoda HQ in Czech Republic, the response was they did not have any data on my car and referred me to contact my UK. Dealer. I have membership of Which consumer magazine, and asked if they could get a response. If it is not Time related I will consider my options. To spend more annually to maintain a cambelt, than my Road Tax is madness.

Workshop/service manual 2014 YETI 1.6 dsg?
Hi anyone used the Erwin manual. I registered on their website. It says that you can download to print. I would not want to download to print as printer far to slow, can you down load to hard drive. can’t find any option on their website to ask them the question.

MY2021 SE L now has 19 inch wheels
I have had my edition for just over 2 years and am confident you will be really pleased with your purchase. I have a set of 19 inch crater rims which are ok, it is just that the 18 inch bragga are better. My only gripe is that I would have liked to have had the choice when I purchased.

You ask good or bad, answer depends on your profile and driving style. I am of an age where I want function over style, so 18 wheels suit me for comfort. The impact on ride may be subjective, but tyre pressure on 18 rims is 2.1 bar and 2.4 bar on 19 rims , so to my mind must be a harder ride. I have had my Karoq just over 2 years and in my opinion whether you are on 18 or 19 rims you will not be disappointed. I think it is a superb car and I am pleased that after much research I chose it. have my opinion on the dealership, but that I’d another subject.

Brakes Came On Abruptly
Anyone got knowledge on the automatic braking system. Never convinced my automatic braking has worked from new. When it had its first service I asked main dealer to test and they said front radar sensor needed replacing. Booked in and then told it was only recalibrated. Still not convince so built a polystyrene barrier covered with tin foil. ( not a thatcham test, but not bad for an amateur). At 9mph I drove through it without stopping. At a second run at 12 mph the car braked to a stop about a meter before the barrier, success! I asked dealer why it did not stop at 5 Km per hour as per the handbook. I was told to ignore what is said in handbook. He then added that you have to achieve 27mph before the system sets. when I then informed him that on my second test it worked at 12mph, without first achieving 27 mph, the manager said he would have to speak to his technician before getting back to me. I am still waiting. I am pleased that it works at the higher speed as that is most important for safety, but still would like it to work at the hand book specified speeds as this would protect minor shunts. my friend videoed the test runs which was interesting. Incidentally the tests were carried out on private property , not on the public highway.

My edition came with 19 as standard. Bought a set of 18 and find the ride much better. If only I had a choice when I bought the car!

Karoq Fuel Flap won’t open
Mine would not open, so tried all the good advice but none worked. Took it to main dealer who tried usual tricks and failed, then used brute force and broke locking mechanism. All working parts replaced under warrantee. By the number of people reporting this issue I suspect there is a design or manufacturing fault.
