  1. I work in a garage, the majority of dpf faults are fleet vehicles, caused by idling all day. I don't remember seeing any vw/audi/skoda dpf faults, apart from a couple of faulty temp sensors. How many dpf issues are actually the symptoms of other faults? Like a knackered turbo blowing oil into the dpf? Or using oil that isn't low ash?
  2. Hi again, Thanks for the info. I have just checked the build sheet and its an ea288 engine.
  3. Are this age octavias subject to the emissions fix saga? I thought it was the earlier ea189 engines?
  4. I'm not worried about having to do forced regens or dpf cleans. I'm a mechanic anyway. Just wondered if anyone had real experience of using a 2.0 tdi for relatively short journeys
  5. Hi all, I have the chance to pick up a 2016 octy 2.0 tdi SEL. It's dsg with 29k. No adblue. How likely are dpf problems with most of my journeys being 10-12 minutes?
  6. Hello everyone. I have a pre fl mk2. The factory head unit, stream mp3, sounded fantastic but lacked connectivity, so I "upgraded" to a Sony xav-ax3250. The sound quality from the Sony unit is rubbish in comparison. Do I need to upgrade my speakers to get back to where I started or is there no hope?
  7. Sorry for any confusion. I previously owned a mk1 octavia tour. The noise is apparent pulling away gently. Not breaking traction, anywhere between half a turn of steering to full lock.
  8. Thanks, it's 55k. Dealer history to 46k and then independent after that. I checked gearbox level last week and it's flowing out and clean. Doesn't really sound like a cv joint and I think I can feel it through the pedals What about the brass washers on the output shaft things?
  9. Hi all, I've recently purchased a 1 owner, 55k octy 2. It's a 2.0 bkd 140, 6 speed manual. It's got a really annoying dry bearing kind of noise when you pull away with a bit of lock on. I am a mechanic and it's doing my head in. My initial thoughts are It's diff related as I only hear it when the front wheels are turning at different speeds?
