  1. This is a sad day because I have let the karoq 1.5tsi manual go. I was having trouble with kangarooing on set off after the update in 2018 but I wasn't experiencing it before the update but the dealer said it had to be done when I had the first service. I was also getting a knocking noise on the front end when turning right and left and reversing. The dealer had it in their workshop numerous times and changed parts on the three occasions, the only time the noise went away for any length of time was when they said they had used a different grease, apparently from Audi. I was also experiencing gearbox or clutch problems, the gear change was very notchy but the dealer said they couldn't find a problem. The brake discs and pads needed changing after 49000 miles which was disappointing because I had two previous yeti's which after 70000 miles the discs were still ok. The final straw came when two door solenoids failed 5 weeks out of warranty, the dealer got Skoda to pay a fair percentage of the bill but I no longer think Skoda are as well built as they used to be which is a shame because I have enjoyed the ownership of two fantastic yeti's but the karoq became a disappointment and not a pleasure to drive. So goodbye to you all and good luck with your vehicle's.
  2. HI pryorkshire I have just changed the the battery in my fob after 18 months as well, I was notified the battery wanted changing when I opened the driver's door whilst the engine was running, it gave a warning in the centre binacle. Hope this helps any one else who is concerned.
  3. Hi solarfusion I have been using the 1.6tdi dsg Karoq for the last two weeks whilst my 1.5tsi Sel manual was with the dealer having warranty work done. I must say I was quite surprised by the performance, at first it seemed slow on the pick up but if you wanted to get out of a junction quickly and floored the accelerator it was quicker than the 1.5 TSI engine and also the torquier engine was better uphill with four adults in. Consumption wise it returned an average of 51 mpg in real terms based on brim to brim filling at the same filling station. A regular trip of 8 miles in the 1.5 TSI would return 51mpg and the 1.6 TDI would return 63 mpg both cars were accurate to within 2 mpg of what the cars on board readings said and an actual calculated mpg based on using about 45 litres of fuel. All in all a surprisingly pleasant vehicle to drive considering the size of the engine.
  4. took my 1.5tsi sel manual karoq registered in May 2018 for its second service yesterday it has done 20000 miles. It hasn't had the kangaroo problem but it has had the flat spot at low speed in second and it could be a bit tricky balancing clutch and accelerator when starting off uphill in first. I asked if the update was available and was told if it was it would be applied while they had it for servicing, well they did the update and things seem to be quite a lot better. When I bring the clutch up in first it now raises the rpm to 1000 and before the update it was 1250rpm it seems to make it easier to balance clutch and accelerator. I can now travel more comfortably around town in traffic in second gear and it responds better to the accelerator at low speeds in second gear. I have done approximately 100 miles since the update and all seems well. There was no mention of it learning over a 600 mile period and I wasn't told the update number, they said it was to solve the judder after start up but seeing as I have never had this problem that seems strange. Anyhow it seems to have improved the other issues so fingers crossed.

  6. Hey speedy2 I fitted my yeti spitzberg wheels on the 1.5 karoq, the 18" wheels that come as standard on the karoq sel are the same offset as the yeti 7J ET45. The circumference of the 18 wheels is 83.139" the circumference of a 17r 215/55 is 82.658" which is a difference of 0.48" or about 0.6% so nothing really to be concerned about.
  7. I had my karoq 1.5 sel in at the dealers on the 05/08/2019 for warranty work to the front suspension which had a slight knock when going around left or right corners. They checked for software updates for the 2nd gear flat spot but told they me none are available at present, they also told me Skoda have been made aware of my problem and the dealer will contact me as soon as the update is available if ever, I think a lot of us owners of MY2018 cars do not believe VAG have any intention of sorting out pre WLTP cars.
  8. I updated satnav maps on the Amundsen head unit on my Karoq sel about six weeks ago and it also puts 50 and 60 symbols up simultaneously. It would seem they are not sure what the national speed limit for that class of road should be, I would imagine a lot of people in the UK are confused that national speed limit symbols can mean different speeds depending on the classification of the road.
  9. Hi Rankaclank Is the software update to solve the flat spot problem for MY19 or MY18 Karoq or is it for both.
  10. Hi Bohmer I have the karoq 1.5 sel and I used my 17" spitzberg alloys off my yeti and fitted winter tyres to them, the offset and the bolt hole circle are the same as the Braga wheels that came fitted as standard.
  11. I had the same problem last year on a karoq sel. The driver side wiper had split and had also twisted, the dealer changed both front wipers free of charge.
  12. This is an update to my post on the 12/09/2018. I have been back to the dealers today so they could fit a new door card to solve the front passenger side electric window switch which kept coming out when you tried to close the window, it has taken seven months to get a simple repair sorted, I hope nothing major goes wrong in the near future.
  13. When I ordered my karoq sel 1.5 in January 2018 the plastic wheel arch trims were free of charge when you ordered the 19" wheels, I think this was because the tyres supplied with the wheels were wider than the standard 18" wheels and tyres.
  14. I have the 1.5tsi sel manual Karoq, I had a build week 13, 26/03/2018 but it did not go into production until the 10/04/2018. The dealer received the car on the 15/05/2018 and registered it on the 19/05/2018. As I have said on earlier posts I have no issues with kangarooing or pulling away smoothly whether the weather is warm or cold, I do the think there is a flat spot in 1st and second gear but no problem when you are aware of it. Also there is no problem with the revs going up and down erratically on start up whatever the weather, it starts at 1250rpm and if the air conditioning is off it quickly drops to 750rpm if the air con is on it hovers around 980rpm. The car has now done 8600 miles with no problems, it's due an oil service shortly and the dealer will be told not to do any ECU updates without notifying me first and if they insist it needs doing I will be speaking to someone at Skoda UK.
  15. Just read this post on the VW t roc forum. Hi ,Spoke to customer services yesterday and they called me back today. The guy i spoke to was very good and he says VW are aware of problem and there will be a software update coming but not till the 2nd quarter 2019, He says the problem is only on certain chassis numbers and not on all 1.5 engines .the fix will be implemented once it is tested and approved most probally by recall I wonder if Skoda will soon be singing from the same song sheet
  16. If I activate Bluetooth on my phone whilst I am in the house it registers with the car when I start the ignition every time, but if I switch on Bluetooth on my phone once I have got into the car it does not find my phone and I have to go into the settings on the Amundsen unit.
  17. I have a 1.5tsi sel manual Karoq and I have fitted a set of falken 215/55/ r17 hs01 winter tyres on a set of spitzberg alloys which I had on my previous yeti, first impressions after 100 miles is they are quieter, better in dry weather, better in wet conditions and only slightly worse on fuel economy than the Bridgestone tyres that came fitted to the car. I will let you know how they perform in snow if we get any this winter.
  18. Jarot The car is an 1.5 sel manual
  19. Now that vw/Skoda are acknowledging a problem with the kangerooing in first gear and are working on a fix will they update every 1.5tsi karoq ECU when they go in for a service without asking the owner because I do not appear to have issue or maybe certain driving styles eliminate the effect. I for one do not want an update because it may cause the kangarooing like it has to one of the followers of this forum.
  20. I have owned a Karoq 1.5tsi sel since May 2018 and I have been reading the Karoq forum since January 2018. I have been wondering how many Karoq owners are genuinely happy with their car, I haven't experienced the kangarooing effect or many of the problems other owners seem to be suffering so my question is this, are there more people dissatisfied with their purchase or more that are satisfied. It would be interesting to hear from people who are happy with their car.
  21. I took the car back to the dealers on the 03/09/2018 to have the new housing fitted, after an hour's waiting they told me the wrong part had arrived. They said it must be that different trim levels have different switches which I find hard to believe. They say the have reordered the part based on the vin number of the vehicle and will ring me when it arrives, I will post the results after my next visit whenever that is.
  22. I took the car back to the dealers yesterday, the trim that houses the front passenger electric window switch pops up when you use the switch to raise the window. The tech guy took the housing out and inspected the securing lugs and could not find a problem ie none of them broken. I asked him to check a new Karoq in the showroom and that was ok. He has ordered a new switch housing and will fit it to see if that solves the problem if it doesn't he says he will have to do further investigation whatever that means. I also got him to change the windscreen wipers under the warranty, I mentioned the problem with the drivers side in a recent post.
  23. I have the Karoq sel with the Amundsen system. The globe is red when I am not connected to the hotspot on my phone, but turns white when a connection is established.
  24. Has anyone else noticed a problem with the drivers side windscreen wiper. Mine has twisted slightly and does not wipe the screen efficiently, it's quite a long wiper blade and seems to lack enough strength in its contruction. There are plastic supports that create a bridge effect which can be moved along its length but they don't appear to help a great deal.
  25. eton@30900 I have just had the same situation as yourself narrow country lane no curb but hedgerows. Going around a right hand bend about 35 mph when the car braked sharply luckily no one was following me, I didn't receive any warning it was going to happen. No adverse weather just a sunny evening, I would be interested to hear your findings on the settings.
