  1. I've had a clonking & creaking from underneath the drivers side of my fabia for a while & I've been told the rear bush on the bottom arm has given up. Has anyone else had one replaced, if so then roughly how much would it cost to get it sorted as I'm not keen on spending a huge amount on it. Tia
  2. Yes I did & the engine started revving on it's own, after I had a new sensor & ABS ring fitted all the faults went away.
  3. Mine was playing up & kept telling me a tyre had lost pressure, mine was caused by an ABS sensor that was on it's way out & after it was replaced I haven't had any warnings about loss of pressure!
  4. Remove the relevant pipework & the air box lifts off, then you can open it up.
  5. Hi all, I've had a quiet rattling from the engine bay area that's been developing over the past month or so & it's more noticeable when the engine is working hard (ie climbing up a steep hill) and yesterday I noticed a groaning/squeaking when turning the wheel which is louder as it gets closer to full lock, no play at all in the steering & it doesn't wander. Could it be something simple as dry/worn bushes on the anti roll bar, or is it the rack it self that's making the noise? Edit: I forgot to mention, the car is a 1.4tdi Tia
  6. I'm guessing I do that via the touch screen as there's no buttons in the car.
  7. I have a mk3 Fabia SE L diesel with the exact same problem, I pulled the ABS fuse out to see if it temporarily cured my problems & it did, however after removing the fuse it's now developed an intermittent stuttering on acceleration as if it misfires.
  8. Doesn't seem to be running away, I removed the fuse & relay for the abs & it doesn't rev on it's own any more.
  9. Not bothered messing with it as it's developed another fault so I may be getting rid of it.
  10. Some say that disconnecting the battery overnight resets it or resetting the flaps with the computer.
  11. I don't usually use the recirc either but I read somewhere to determine that it's the flap not finding the right position was to press the recirc & see if air flows out of the vents, if so then it's the flap & not the fan & the special demist button is pretty useless in mine as it doesn't blow air on the windscreen but if I hit the recirc button it works fine!
  12. Hi all hopefully someone can shed some light as to what happened, I had a grating & juddering from the brake pedal when I braked & the engine revved on it's own. I shut the car off & tried again & the same happened again but this time the engine revved right to the red line, I'm guessing something's gone wrong with the abs but not sure what made it rev on it's own. I should add when I let it roll with the engine off the brakes were nice & quiet.
  13. I'm having the exact same problem with my fabia which also happens to be an SE L & It's not the fan that's the problem, it's the vents because if you hit the recirc button the air flows out of vents that I set & it acts like nothing is wrong.
  14. I noticed some white smoke coming from underneath the bonnet after about half an hour of driving, it seemed to be coming from the back of the engine roughly where the clutch slave cylinder is & I also noticed some sort of fluid on the engine tray along with an horrible acrid burning smell, the burning smell & smoke seemed to stop after about ten minutes of the engine been switched off. I noticed the car had been doing a regen & that's when the burning & smoke seemed to start. Both coolant temp & oil temp were spot on & the coolant level hadn't dropped & the AA guy sent by skoda assist said the brake fluid was slightly under the max marker, it was back at skoda last year after I had the low brake fluid warning light on & I was told a pipe to the clutch slave cylinder had split & had to be replaced but I haven't had any warning lights on so I'm not sure what caused the smoke. The car has been dumped back at hayseldens yet again to be looked at, starting to get fed up with the damn thing as it seems to spend more time at the main dealers than on my drive way.
