Rattling noise from engine bay & squeaky steering!

Hi all, I've had a quiet rattling from the engine bay area that's been developing over the past month or so & it's more noticeable when the engine is working hard (ie climbing up a steep hill) and yesterday I noticed a groaning/squeaking when turning the wheel which is louder as it gets closer to full lock, no play at all in the steering & it doesn't wander.

Could it be something simple as dry/worn bushes on the anti roll bar, or is it the rack it self that's making the noise?

Edit: I forgot to mention, the car is a 1.4tdi
