  1. Got the garage to clean what they could, will a terraclean work the same way?, thank you all for replying
  2. Hi all, I've just had the inlet manifold done on my mk2 tfsi, as it was being done, I had a call from the garage, so I went down and spoke to them, I was shown some nasty carbonated valves, very bad carbonated valves in all honesty, and was told that replacing the inlet manifold wouldn't solve the problem, is there anything I can do to get rid of this stuff, I can feel the car judder when it's driven, not noticeable too much when it's warm, unless you put the foot down, but when it's cold, you can really feel it, have been back to the garage who have said it's because the valves are sticking open etc, and that they call it smokers lung, all help appreciated
  3. Having the same problem, car is booked in to have a replacement on Tuesday
  4. In the owners book it says, some engines will require up to a litre of oil every 750-1500 miles, I did ask about an oil compression test, but I live over 20 miles away from the main dealer, plus its used as a taxi, so if the amber warning light comes on, I'd have to top it up to get the car back to the dealer, so no go
  5. Yep, its just 1 of those things, there was a batch of dodgy engines as such, that affected some models, some vw's have the same, along with the seat leon and cupra, and because the oil consumption is well within the set parameters, there's nothing they will do, at least im only paying around £3 a litre, and its tax deductible lol
  6. Short of replacing the engine, there's not alot I can do, luckily I have a good mate who I get the oil from at cost price, have spoken to skoda and others, i've done around 20k so far with no issues, I check the oil every monday and thursday, and top up accordingly, at least it has fresh oil every week lol
  7. Hi peeps, I have a mk2 octavia vrs petrol, im using it as a taxi, im thinking of a remap, but im worried about the longevity of the engine, ive had it around 8 months, and as I said in an earlier post, I have to put around a litre of oil in, every 1000-1500 miles, its currently on 65k, and I plan on keeping it for 3-4 yrs, I average around 40k a year, its always serviced on time, and any knocks or bangs are sorted straight away, is it worth a remap
  8. Hi peeps,I have a vrs octavia, ive noticed a vibration in 1st and reverse sometimes, when I pull away, doesn't happen all the time, seems to be when im on the biting point, low revs,it also makes a noise, which you can hear inside the car,and outside when windows are open, cars done 58k,Ive put 20k on it,it happened when I 1st got it,but seems to be more frequent, more in reverse, and more if im on a hill, cheers guys
  9. Spoke to skoda, basically nothing will sort the oil issue out, apart from a new engine,so I asked the question that as long as the oil is checked regularly, and topped up accordingly, will the engine be ok,and without confirming 100%,they said it should be fine,so have now found a local supplier of oil,and if I buy 20l a time it equates to roughly £3.50 a litre, not ideal I know, but thats the way it is,skoda will not replace engine as the oil consumption is well within the parameters set for the car, thank you all for the help, much appreciated
  10. Ive been using 5w 30,and I have a good mate who runs a tyre centre nearby, who I buy the oil off
  11. Have spoken again to skoda to see the cost of doing an oil compression test, only to be told that with the amount of oil I have put in,its not something they would do,basically its a new engine needed,so after having the car a month, and its on finance,an engine with 42k on it,is deemed knackered,im still using it at the mo,I have no choice, and bar the oil,it runs sweet as a nut, garage I bought it off gave the mandatory 3 month warranty, but as im using it as a taxi, the warranty is basically null and void, any idea of the next step, will skoda contribute,or am I up a **** creek without a paddle
  12. Have rung the garage up,and am waiting for a call back tomoz, local garage looked at it today, couldn't see any visible leaks etc,but on inspection of exhaust pipes, black sooty residue was everywhere, phoned the local skoda main dealer and spoke to the chief mechanic, who, although cannot guarantee 100%,is as certain as can be that its piston rings, common problem with this engine, effecting vw golf, seat leon cupra and some audi a4 models
  13. Bought my octavia vrs less than a month ago,it had 38k on the clock, ive done roughly 2k in that time, taxi use,ive had to put 2l of oil in it already,is this normal, hope not,or my oil outlay will be as high as my fuel costs lol,ive got 2 months left on the warranty,is it worth getting a garage to look at it,its a mk2 2011
  14. How do you mean verifying the mileage,if its between the oil top-ups,id say between 750 miles-850 miles give or take,I put a litre in on monday afternoon, and it was 9 days previous, when I put the 1st litre in,I got a 3 month warranty,I haven't noticed any smoke from the exhaust etc,and I read somewhere that other people have the same issue,if im busy,I can do the mileage and more in a week
  15. I use my octavia vrs petrol as a taxi, been thinking about a remap,is it worth it,its quick enough when I need it to be,and not sure what to expect, will it impact on servicing, what problems could I encounter as my mileage is around 40k a year, also will oil consumption increase,I posted this question yesterday,im using a litre almost every week,750 miles plus, depending how busy I am,last thing I need is to be splashing out on more oil
