Okay all sorted now. I fitted the new switch (part number 1C0945511A) and the warning light still remained on. I then tried to cancel the fault code with VCDS in the way I had done so previously and still no joy. However..... I then went into the 'Select control module' menu, then 'Engine' and cleared the fault code under that menu and now it works perfectly! Cruise control, brake lights and no warning lights on. So, either the switch was indeed the issue and it took a few seconds for the warning light to go out, or (more likely) I was clearing the fault code under the incorrect menu (Auto-scan, and then clear) and I am a massive pillock. Either way, all is good now and the Fabia doesn't have to go in the bin just yet!

No worries, I've already ordered one, but if its is also dogsh*t then I will order a genuine one. I will keep you posted either way!

All looks fine to me! No bulbs blown or any corrosion. High level brake light works well. I'm starting to think it's an issue with the switch itself, I've heard the cheap ones can be a bit troublesome. Have ordered one of the 'improved' switches so will give that a go.

Just checked - both fuses 2 and 28 are fine - clean and fit snugly in the socket.

They are not, no. Just standard ones.

I will triple-check but I am almost certain it was clean and intact.

Problem with the usual glow plug light flashing on a MK1 Fabia VRS. I first replaced the switch, and checked the brake light bulbs, connections and fuses. Brakes lights work absolutely fine, and I have now even tried a second new switch, but still no joy. I did manage to get the warning light to go out (removed the switch and refitted with the pedal in the down position), however the cruise control still didn't work and the warning light soon came back on after going for a drive. Have cleared the fault code (16955 - Brake Switch (F) P0571 - 000 - Implausible Signal) and still no joy. Starting to run out of ideas so any help or advise would be welcome!
