Quite possibly, that and leasing deals, I think long term residuals on the petrols might be better than expected and the reverse for the diesels, oversupply being a valid point I'm very much your last line, cash buyer as in my own money, got a good discount, on pcp because its 2.9% and I will keep the car 6 years at least, I dont worry about residuals really

Out sells the Veyron as well , must be better than that also They sell more Fiestas than anything else in this country , I wouldnt want one of those either Fact remains , sales have dropped , residuals are dropping

Forget INSANE mode ! LUDICROUS mode is here !
Richf replied to Clunkclick's topic in General Automotive Chat
I had a test drive in one , spent about an hour on various type of roads , they are simply outstanding , I've never been in anything that launched like the Tesla (Insane mode) , the whole package is simply stunning , unfortunately so is the price tag the one I drove was £104k but perhaps next year All I can say to anyone is just drive one , you will not fail to be impressed , if you are any kind of petrolhead of course -

How on earth does one distinguish between someone who is in the left hand lane of the roundabout indicating right and someone who is actually turning right? People that indicate right and then left when going straight on is one of my bug bears I am not in the habit of indicating when I am going straight on , being on a roundabout would make no difference although I do signal left when exiting the roundabout Much like the others I indicate only when its of use to other drivers and when it is to make my intentions clear, this right and then left business is confusing at best. -
Always used to hold its value better you mean about as popular as a pork pie at a Bar Miztvah nowadays :)

Buying vRS petrol or diesel
Richf replied to chewableclock's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Size , space, practicality and anonymity . The Octavia estate is huge and has more rear headroom than the Golf (Important if your son is 6'3") . The boot on the Octavia hatch also makes it practical family car , the cars you listed are weekend toys or second cars imo I don't see them as particularly performance orientated cars just a family car with a decent turn of speed -
Open to any offers on these

I dont have the extreme alloys just the 18" diamond cut but I kerbed mine on the way back from the dealers the day i collected it ! Just touch it up with clear laquer for now and in the spring there are plenty of mobile wheel refurb people who can make it look much much better

The GTR has launch control , they are idiot proof I dont use launch control on my cars but along with the torque app and a private road or drag strip I can get close to the manufacturers figures, spent Saturday doing that very thing in fact

Interesting thread here in the MLR with posts from the guy who built the Skoda engine, also has a link the Bonneville video http://lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=386857

A RWYB is never a good way to judge anothers cars performance , the GTR can hit 60 in less then 3 seconds and easily run a 11 second 1/4
-
Its all relative , if a car did a 1/4 mile in 11 seconds then it would probably pull 115-120 terminal speed, however a car running high 11's would run about 110mph and hit 100 mph in about 11 seconds from the start , acceleration is acceleration. There is no way by adding 100 hp to MK3 TSI that it would A) be able to run more than 100 mph in the 1/4 mile or be able to run faster than a 13 second run So I think its a**e gravy of the highest order and nothing but sales talk Not saying it wouldnt be a lot of fun but if you cant get the hp down then its pretty pointless and my stock TSI struggles off the line with 220
-
And I don't believe it for a minute that would equate to a 1/4 mile time of mid 11's and I just don't buy that for a fwd car with low 300's hp that's way faster than a golf r for example

I understood only the worst most polluting diesels were being restricted and then on a rolling scale by 2020 only post 2011 cars on the road , of course its being reported in various scaremongering ways http://www.mnn.com/green-tech/transportation/blogs/paris-bans-diesels-and-restricts-traffic
