  1. My turbo was gubbed and replaced. Interestingly failed again 11 months later and has just been replaced on warranty. Running nice
  2. I have spent >£5k in last year on repairs and can't face another for a car that is barely worth that. I am electric from September in any case. Sad times, and bad time to dunk so much cash.
  3. Hi, thanks for replies. Deutsche Tek in Glasgow. Not sure on warranty on the turbo. They replaced the injector last month for half price given the extended issues with the car. They changed the oil and filters 3 weeks ago!
  4. Hi, 2013 MkIII VRS TSI Estate 108k Timeline: - January 2022 (98k) turbo goes and replacement turbo installed. - September 2022 (104k). Timing chain has stretched and needed replaced along with camshaft which had a rattle. - December 2022 (107k) fuel injector goes on one cylinder. Fixed. - Yesterday (108k), turbo goes again at 70mph on motorway. Same EPG warning every time turbo tries to engage. If the turbo was new in Feb 2022 then surely it should not be dying now? Do the turbos have serial numbers to check manufactor date? Sorry Im a total noob. Thanks in advance
  5. Timing chain was >100k and was initial repair. The rattling that became progressively worse was the cam. Engine been fine for last three weeks (maybe 1000 miles) until the issue a couple days ago.
  6. The timing chain had stretched and jumped and damaged the cam (worsening rattle). I have the damaged cam too. One thing they said was that they tried three different cams which seemed odd... I'm not technical at all FYI
  7. Hi, My '13 Mk3 Octavia VRS 2.0 TSI recently had new timing chain and cam fitted 3 weeks ago. On return from Xmas trip to Ireland, I had loss of power and misfiring with fuel smell and then wouldn't start. Recovered to a different garage who are suggesting (without yet looking at it) that the initial repair could be the cause. Any thoughts? TIA
  8. Hi, This just happened to me last night, pulling away from roundabout in 4th, luckily got into layby where it shuddered for a while. Now doesn't start. I'm not at all techy so I'm just wondering how much this is going to cost in a garage? I replaced turbo in July '22 and replaced timing chain and cam 1 month ago. All in it has cost me >£4k in the last year. '13 mkiii Octavia VRS 2.0 TSI TIA
  9. Thanks for the responses! i had it out tonight and EPC light off after one restart and then the turbo seems to be full power or near to. I trust the guys, they checked the error code for free initially and then on that inspection there they didn't charge me. Im unsure if they removed the linkage and moved the wastegate arm. They said that 80% of the time the actuator fails it is the turbo that causes? Would i still be able to get near full power if the turbo has an issue? Sorry im not techy at all (obviously)
  10. Hi, I've had similar issue on my '13 VRS TSI, i've had it diagnosed and they think the actuator is at fault but can't guarantee that the turbo isn't causing the issue. They are giving the option of replacement actuator @ £700 or new turbo @ £1900. The turbo is definitely restricted once the EPC light is on, but not to 30mph - rather just the turbo is disabled. However, if I restart the engine a few times, there is a point where the light will not come on and the engine and turbo is working. This suggests to me that the actuator alone is the issue? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
