Now autumn's arrived and the leaves are falling from the trees, you might notice that your ventilation fan starts to make humming / vibrating sounds when it's on 3 or 4. This is because leaves get sucked into the inlet of the fan and get stuck in the fan blades. Here's how to get them out. You will need a Torx screwdriver (3mm, I think) and about 10 minutes to do this job:

First, turn on the fan, and set it to re-circ. Once the re-circ's come on and the fan starts to blow harder, turn off the ignition (just to be on the safe side!) Doing this will open a flap on the back of the fan that lets the air from inside the car back into the fan inlet - more on this later:

Sorry for the rubbish cameraphone pics -

they should be good enough to do this, though...

Next, open the passenger door and the glove compartment lid, and push off the D-shaped bit of trim down the side of the dash:

Close the glove compartment lid again, then undo the two screws underneath the dash, just behind where the glove compartment lid hinges down:

Now, use your knee or foot to support the glove compartment unit, open the glove compartment (again!) and undo the three screws along the top edge:

The glove compartment unit will now drop down, and you will be able to see the fan housing in front of you. If you reach right round the back, you can get your fingers inside and pull out any leaves stuck in the fan blades. Turn the blades round a couple of times to make sure you've got everything:

Re-assembly is virtually the reverse of dis-assembly, as they say. You will need to be careful of the passenger footwell air outlet (marked by the dotted line), and you may find it easiest to do it with the passenger door open to give you a bit more room to manoeuvre:

    That's it! Enjoy your quiet(er) fan! :)

  2. Hi All,

I live in Cardiff and am looking for some advice. I'm after a SKODA Octavia or Karoq... now I know they're very different lol. However, me and my partner keep disputing which one is best for our needs.

We don't mind New but deals would have to be good, preferebly pre-reg or used.

    Thanks!

  4. So. I just came on here to ask some more questions and noticed your comments!

    1. There is no need to be rude and put other businesses down for some small typing errors.

    2. I was only trying to let others know in the area that I had a good experience there.

  5. I've had a look at this.

From what I can see, it's a good deal. For them to be retailing it being a 2013 model (on their forecourt), it's got to be worth their while.

I've had a look on AutoTrader and Motors and its probably one of the cheapest for the age and mileage.

Do they have any benefits for buying a used car from them? See what you can get else from them but I don't think the car is over priced at all - especially not by £3,000 lol!

  6. Hi guys,

My name is Jessica and I own a 65 plate Octavia, which I got last Thursday!

I thought i'd put a message on here to make sure you get the right checks if you're buying a second hand car like I did.

I'm from Cardiff, so I took mine to White Dove SKODA and they were so helpful, even though I didn't buy the car off them.

One thing they did mention, is to get a Winter Health Check (I gt this is seasonal but I did only buy the car last week). I never knew that people didn't change to winter tyres, or put antifreeze in their car (lucky mine has both, thanks to its previous owner).

I think their winter check is about £26 or something, but it checks pretty much everything on the car. I had mine done today, and to my surprise i also got a free umbrella! I think you can get a travel mug too, i'm not sure. I went online to check the price but I found this post about driving tips for winter, and it was actually really interesting to see as little as 6% of people change their winter tyres. I also got a free car checklist for the winter which I thought was cool. Here's the link if anyone wnats to see it - http://blog.whitedovegroup.co.uk/winter-driving-tips-staying-safe-this-winter

The lady who served me was really nice (I think her name was Milly) and even ran through the importance of getting your car serviced and MOTd every year without pushing me to go with them, which is rare of car dealerships! I will definitely be returning there even though I bought the car elsewhere.
