  1. This is my 3rd dsg equipped car, all do the same, put in sports mode, also don't brake then go to accelerate straight away, that causes the lag as computer is trying to calculate gearing and throttle response accordingly.  I've driven a lot of vehicles with dsg or similar duel clutch gearboxes and its a thing they all do.

  2. Had this happen to me this morning, -1c out all electrics on, reverse ok, then autohold came on, put into drive and nothing. Turned auto hold off still no throttle, no revs nothing but idle was sitting at the same it would when fully warmed engine. Put it into reverse again and it moved then into drive then fine. At end of my road (100 metres away) happened again. Drove to work in London on motorway (12 miles). Lots of stop start, temp now -2 but car fully warmed up, no issues. Very puzzling.

Hi Ozzy, I'm using a Mac Book pro also. The Columbus doesn't come with a SD card, as all the software is on its HD. The SD card has the following: HIGH12_P175_EU_2019 and WMPInfo.xml. From there it has: metainfo2.txt and two folders named Mib1 & Mib2. Inside these it has all the EU countries etc.

The card is a Scandisk Ultra 80MB/s.

Ahhh ok, mines amundsen so runs off sd and the sansdisk you use should be perfect for it!  Odd question but can you update maps off WiFi?

So, cleaned the card using the downloaded app - it did clean something I think?  Tried updating again, but still get the same error message. How in God's name is it done at a Skoda dealership, because there's no way they would have the time or patience to faff around? In my wife's Q3 its navigation comes with its own dedicated SD card which is linked to that particular car only (allegedly), as was my Kuga nav card. If you wanted a map update you have to buy a new SD card (Audi or Ford).

Perhaps I do have something in common with Skoda - Simply Not Clever. :D

I have mac book pro and delete what’s on Skoda sd card then copy the downloaded (unzipped) file to sd card. Never had any issues on my Octavia or karoq. Is your sd card a high speed one? I’d use the one which came with car. Does your maps folder have two folders inside? One folder is 00.

@OzzyP83  Just so everyone can be clear.  Is your car that has done a few hundred miles a MY19 1.5 TSI DSG that is a WLTP Certificated one and First Registered after September 2018?

So not a Pre Registered car without WLTP Approval.

    PS

Others are reporting the same issues with other VW Group Models, and have been for months.

Yes has Wltp certification and first registered November 2018. I have another question for the manual drivers. Does this issue happen if you put on sports mode? If so it’s down to throttle mapping and is a software issue which should be easily programmed out. If vw accept liability. I still think it’s 100% down to running the engines lean for emissions. I also don’t think it’s noticeable on dsg models because the clutch is computer controlled and smooths everything out.

Luckily I did! Replaced it with the digital dash which, as a bit of a neek, I love. Standard system when set up properly is actually fine. Lacks a little deep bass but then I'm not a fan of grime so it doesn't matter much!

I listen to a lot of grime and it’s pretty good for it hahaha, better than my Octavia lol

  7. This surely can’t be just a Skoda thing, it must be through the whole of VAG with all the shared components. Has anyone heard anything from other branches of vag?  Also it definitely must be a manual thing as my auto has none of these complaints, it can be a bit rough if I start from cold and go to drive away straight away, but you should leave it to warm up for at least 30seconds I find then it’s fine.  Had the same with my 1.4tfsi dsg Octavia too.  Also did any of you guys notice this issue when you test drove the car before purchasing?  I’ve had mine a week now and done a few hundred miles in it and it’s great. Fuel consumption isn’t as good as Octavia though....... yet.

  8. So I’ve been playing around with my standard setup with Amundsen head unit. I’m actually very pleased with the standard sound. I set bass to +7 mid +2 treble +4 and get a very punchy natural sound out of it. When listening to classical music you can really hear the nuances of individual instrumentation and hip hop has all the bass and punch you could ask for.  If I can get this quality of sound out of standard setup, I can only imagine how much better the canton must be.

  9. How long you had it?  Coz the finance has been taken out on your current car, they’ll have to pay off outstanding balance and start new finance. I have a horrible feeling you’ll be in negative equity so will have to pay the difference between how much they’ll offer and how much is left on finance. If it’s less than 14 days you can give it back no issues.

  10. fair play, i still find it crazy that a spare isn't standard equipment on motors nowadays.  I know it's probably for weight saving, but still, i've only used a tyre repair can once many years ago and it was useless, so have specced all my cars with spares since, but now they are asking crazy money so thats why i purchased off ebay

Just to add to the annoying things about the karoq, I got a puncture this morning and all 4 of the tyre garages I visited said what strange size tyre that is and we don’t stock them! Therefore one is in order for Monday and the car has to stay in the work car park till then, oh and of course there’s no jack or wheelbrace, just the pump up kit which was of no use in my situation but I no surprise there, I’m going back in to skoda next week to see if they’ll take it back and swap it for a lower spec second hand kodiaq or Octavia :@

That sucks, but if you didn't order a spare of course it wouldn't come with a jack or wheel brace.  I ordered all mine off ebay and saved £200 off of stealer price, even got the polystyrene tool holder from a Seat Ateca.

  12. Thank you and hope so too.  Be interesting if someone took their one to a legitimate tuner and have it on rolling road and see what the fuel map is set to.  I'm pretty sure this is a software issue to get through emissions testing, so super lean to get moving and slow pickup until up to a set speed.

  13. I've always run my tfsi cars off 98 or higher octane fuel, noticeable performance and fuel efficiency increase.  I havent noticed any problems on my Karoq, admittedly I only picked up yesterday, but have driven through heavy traffic, up steep hills and motorways and haven't noticed any of the issues, yet.  Maybe it is a software issue and as mine has had a patch?? Mine is 1.5 dsg

Erm, but what about the interior light operation!?

Open the door and lights come on.  Later on I'm going to try two things.  Switch engine off and press the unlock door button manually, if that doesn't light up interior I will try blipping unlock on the key.

  15. I just picked my karoq yesterday and Mpg is currently less than my Octavia 1.4tsi but feels a much more “premium” car. The 1.5 is smooth and quiet and got good pickup with dsg (I’m not ragging it just gently getting used to it). It is a heavier car so once engine loosened up I’ll compare. My Octavia managed 41mpg average over a year between services and I did thrash it a bit lol.

But it does function (with KESSY system) when ignition is switched off via the start /stop button - I'm living proof of that !

Do you have the panoramic sunroof?  Seems to have different interior light switching.  My sel doesnt turn interior lights on till opening the door also.  Not super bothered tbh, if i need lights on before opening door i'll switch on manually.  I did try when turning off car pressing start stop and holding it for a while and made no difference, it's almost as if the ignition is still on as radio still on till opening door.

  17. Hey guys my name is Dan, just purchased my 5th Skoda which is a Karol 1.5 dsg sel. Previous Skoda’s have been Felicia 1.6 estate (facelift), mk1 Fabia 1.4 16v 100ps estate, 1.4 tsi dsg rapid elegance, Octavia mk3 sport se 1.4 dsg
