Engine dies when horn used
Hi thanks for the reply. I think that I may have only used the horn a couple of times before this happened. strangely, it happened yesterday, but this time it didn’t give any dash warning lights. Also Carista didn’t show any fault. This time I was at traffic lights and it took nearly 5 mins before the engine eventually started. i am due a service and mot in the next month so I’ll get the garage to have a look as they have VCDS.

Engine dies when horn used
Hi I’ll put it on charge tonight, just to see if it makes a difference but I’ll probably change it anyway as it’s a few years old and I don’t know the history as I’ve only had the car since September

Engine dies when horn used
Hi Paul52 I think that I will replace the battery as i have no reference of how old it is. As you say it has no starting issues, but it can’t hurt as it’s not 100% healthy.

Engine dies when horn used
Hi Austin7 Thanks for the detailed info. When I get time I’ll take a look. It maybe nothing, but looking through the small amount of paperwork that came with the car I noticed that a clock spring had been replaced at some point. Again, thanks for the help

Engine dies when horn used
Hi KiNeL The reason I asked the question was that sounding the horn was the only thing that caused the engine to stall. I’ve never had any issues with starting when the headlights are on auto and the HVAC is also on. I checked the battery and it was reading 12.18V. Obviously this is not ideal, but as far as I was aware, nowhere near problematic.

Wise words! I only used the horn because I was picking my mother in law up. I blame her

Engine dies when horn used
Hi. I’ve got a strange one for you all. When the engine is idling and the horn is sounded, the engine stalls. Upon restarting it judders and stalls again. It takes several restarts to get it running again. I’ve scanned with Carista. Sometimes it shows a fault with fuel rail pressure sensor, other times it doesn’t register a fault. 2014 L&K to 170 Any ideas? Cheers Dunk

Rear wiper problems
Hi yes, the screen shows the boot open and closed when the boot is open and closed, so I’d assumed that the sensor in the lock was working okay.

Rear wiper problems
Hi my rear wiper has stopped working. (2014 yeti L&K) I have checked the plug going into the motor. There is constant power on one wire but nothing on the other two (signal?) wires. This is when the wiper still is on and also when reverse is selected. i changed the motor, also nothing. My next guesses are faulty relay or maybe switch on boot lock. any help would be gratefully received. also, does anyone know if a. The rear with as its own relay and b. Where is the relay located. thanks Dunk

Door rubbing strip removal
That’s great info. I will take note when refitting them. Unfortunately a brake callipers seized the other day, so need to do a caliper re-seal before getting on to bodywork. Oh the joys of an ancient car!

Door rubbing strip removal
Hi All I’m about to treat some rust and respray the bottom of the doors on My 2009 Yeti. I was wondering if anyone knows how to remove the rubbing strips? Is it from the outside or inside the door? TIA Dunk

Windscreen washer bottle
Hi Today I finally found the time to have a look behind the bumper. Luckily as the car is a bit of a state I wasn’t too worried about removing it carefully and found that I only needed to undo the driver’s bottom section. This gave Me enough access to refit the parking sensor and also refit the washer pump. Looks like the reservoir wasn’t broken after all. All back together now. The last job is the washer jet. It seems that the unit functions properly it’s just that the nozzles have been snapped off. I’ve seen replacement nozzles on eBay for a Golf/ jetta. Are these the same as the Yeti ones?

Windscreen washer bottle
Hi i managed to hit a Muntjac the other day in the pre FL Yeti!!!!! Luckily I was not going too fast. The only damage was a (possibly) punctured screen was bottle and a broken headlight washer. what I wanted to know is how do I get to the washer bottle? Does the entire bottom section of the bumper have to come off?

Squeaking/groaning tailgate?
Had a look at it today. I’ve managed to get it to shut without having to slam it which is a real bonus. Moved stops out of the way and used silicone lubricant on all rubber seals. I only had the time for a quick drive, but so far it seems to have reduced the noise significantly. I’ll start to move the stops back into position in the next few days

Squeaking/groaning tailgate?
Hi Thanks for the reply. I removed the rubber caps on the stops today but that didn’t change anything. I’ll adjust them tomorrow and try again. My car has had some slightly questionable paintwork in the past so I imagine that the boot has either been removed for work or replaced with a second hand one. Also the bolts on the hinges have some paint missing.

Squeaking/groaning tailgate?
Hi All Not been on for a while. when I first got My (ageing) 2009 Yeti CR 170 Elegance there was a reasonably annoying squealing/groaning sort of noise when going over bumps or when the chassis was being twisted (reversing onto My drive on full lock for instance). I have always assumed that it is coming from the tailgate as it needs a good slam to shut it and it seems to move a little when shut. now however it is beginning to drive Me mad as it has got a lot worse. Tomorrow I’ll be spending some time trying to adjust it and lubricating everything including rubber seals. I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and are there any suggestions on a solution. cheers Dunk

12 speaker Sound System
Sound quality (or lack of quality) is basically. Loads of distortion from the woofers and shrill/tinnyness from the tweeters. So much so that I had to disconnect the tweeters just to be able to listen to anything.
