K0diaq 190 overheating
If the problem of overheating when the engine is working hard is caused by a failing water pump can I ask for some advice:- Can this be replaced by local garage or is it a dealer job?

K0diaq 190 overheating
I have topped up the coolant with antifreeze and all has appeared well - As with Steph2a driving around, normal traffic speed rarely above 35mph. Decided to have a trial and took to the motorway, accelerated rapidly to 70mph and the temp gauge immediately starts to rise above the 90 degree mark. Come off motorway and gauge goes down to 90 degrees. Question, could this be that the fan is not cutting in - and how do I check this or is it the water pump (expensive repair).

K0diaq 190 overheating
Just went out and bought a Hydrometer - shows coolant antifreeze is ok, but coolant level very low. I used the oil temp to check if temp gauge was not going faulty, increase in oil temp proved this. Can I ask Nickj633 a question? did the signs of a failing water pump only occur when the outside temp was below 0 degrees? Since the temp outside has risen above zero the car has performed as usual, the temp gauge going up to 90degrees and staying there rock solid. Is the water pump driven off the timing belt? My car has just done nearly 50,000 miles and I will probably get the timing belt replaced in another 10,000 miles. Water pump as well? Thanks to you all with your offered solutions. I am about to go out and buy some antifreeze to top up cooling system. Will report back.

K0diaq 190 overheating
Ideas please Took Kodiaq week last Saturday outside temperature somewhere between 0 degrees and -3 degrees. Run for approx 4 miles to shops, temp gauge going up to 90 degrees and then kept going past two more segments. Stop at shops for a few minutes. On startup temp gauge at 90 degrees within less than a mile was several segments past 90 degrees. Check oil temp, 100 degrees, recheck after about half a mile 103 degrees, obviously overheating. Decided to return home via motorway staying at 60mph, on joining motorway temp gauge goes down to 90degrees and stays there for the whole of the journey home. Use the car the following day use car for about 20 miles round trip, outside temp 4 degrees, temp gauge goes to 90 degrees and stays there for the whole journey. Seems something is freezing. Any ideas. KSccout

engine light
From my last post I took the car (DPF engine light on) to the Skoda dealer in Preston because I believe the sensor needed replacing but also the computer needed to be programmed for the new sensor. All went well 2 hours labour and a new sensor and £417 later. Would recommend Simpsons Skoda in Preston, dealer prices but they don't talk down to you and are willing to discuss the problem. They have also confirmed that Skoda UK have dropped the 50,000 mile timing belt interval. There is no upper limit but if/when it break its your fault because you didn't renew it. Well done Skoda!

engine light
Thanks for the reply. Finally got to use the scanner properly and it shows a fault code of P154B which, from the internet tells me its a DPF fault. As you suggested I and then reset using the scanner. Light came on with just the ignition turned on but went off when engine started. Turning everything off and restating light stays on. Having some experience of systems with sensors the fact that the light comes on with just the ignition on suggests the sensor is not replying ok to computer. Looking across the forum and internet there is a suggestion that you need to tell the computer a new sensor has been fitted and the state of the filter checked. This would be a dealers job? at £150 for an hour on their equipment? or can I just get a sensor fitted by my local garage? any comments please.

engine light
On holiday drove about 250 miles to Calais booked in to hotel and went to nearby supermarket. On way back engine management light came on (amber). Drove nearly 300 miles and stopped on motorway for 4 gallons of diesel. Driving out engine management light goes out. Used the car from home for two days and then refuelled and engine management light comes on. Error code 07E8. deleted codes Resetting the code on start-up no light, on switching off and restarting light comes on! Comments and suggestions please.

30,000 Service
Many thanks for all the replies. The information and photo of the Haldex filter from ZacDaMan72 is especially interesting. The paperwork given after the service simply stated Haldex oil change. I will check with the dealer that they will indeed clean the filter, although will have to take their word for it. Air con is still working well but will get the brake fluid changed as I want to take my caravan into France next year (2,000 miles of towing) covis 19 allowing.

30,000 Service
Have to admit to being very cynical of Main dealers - any make. This has been only my second service, 1st was at 9,000 miles. Car has only just started to tell me a service is needed at nearly 25,000 miles. Dealer carried out a 30,000 mile service. OK with Haldex oil change am amused that brake fluid needs changing at 3 years. I am retired and used to service my own cars, only recently has the need to replace brake fluid become apparent. The way I drive now I cannot see me boiling the water content of the brake fluid off!. However will get that done. As an ex maintenance fitter with some refrigeration experience I cannot see why a service to the air con is necessary every three years when the system is working well. I am also told that the spare canister is due to expire. I appreciate I need to maintain my Kodiaq, which has proved to be a great car. Am I being to cynical about all these added costs?

30,000 Service
Just had a 30,000 mile service on my Kodiaq 190ps Scout reg Jan 2018. Have come away with a list of requirements! Immediate action - Air Con Service at £139 Haldex oil change due in 3 months at £99 Brake fluid due in 3 months at £65 Although a 30,000 mile service car has done just over 24,000 miles. Could I ask for comments please as I am thinking that air con should be ok for more than 3 years and brake fluid the same. Don't know about the Haldex oli. Regards Ken
