AC Compressor Clutch can't remove
The AC clutch on out MK1 Octavia has started making a horrible squeezing noise for about 10 seconds until the Compressor kicks in. I am trying to remove the clutch so I can swap it for a new one. But I think the pressure plate has broken off the central splined boss so I can't lock it off to remove the central bolt. Anybody know how to lock it to get it off. Video shows both the outer pulley and the clutch spinning independently from the main compressor spindle. https://flic.kr/p/2rZeogN

V68 Heater Flap Motor
Hi the V68 Flap motor is failing on my Mk1 2004 Octavia. Sometimes it wont change temperature at all and is stuck blowing hot when it does work the temperature range seems to be limited between warm and really hot. Setting the Climatronic into self diagnosis mode reveals an error code for the V68 heater flap motor which fits. I am struggling to find a replacemet motor. I Really want to order a replacement before I go to the effort of stripping it out so I can get the job done in one go can anybody suggest where I can get one either second hand or new if not stupid money. If I could get a prat number maybe my search would bemore successful. Thanks Ben.

Engine cooling fan stays on permanently when engine switched off.
I have just fixed mine with a new fan controller. Also swapped the main fan as the bearings were really noisy.

Octavia TDI overheating, water pump or blocked radiator
Dean thanks for that, I have used a thermostat and temp sensor of a friends octavia genuine parts and known to be working and still the same situation. Pretty sure there is no circulation of water at all so my money is on the waterpump. Just trying to work out if I can be bothered to do the waterpump and timing belt myself, I have done it before or pay the garage but they can't fit me in for 1.5 weeks. I think its was over 1 days work for me from memory.

Octavia TDI overheating, water pump or blocked radiator
Any suggestions for where to get genuine parts from, Skoda Exeter can only get them for possible Saturday probably Monday and they was £40 for a thermostat and £48 for a temp sensor.

Octavia TDI overheating, water pump or blocked radiator
Dean, I am stuck in rural Devon so only had access to a Hass temp sensor and an unknown make of thermostat. Will try to get some genuine ones. Dean still doesn't explain the heater not getting hot does it. Can I try it without a thermostat?

Octavia TDI overheating, water pump or blocked radiator
I have a 54 plate TDI Octavia that last night on the way home got quite hot but not dangerously. I thought it was the temp sensor so I changed that. This morning it hit 130 climbing a hill should be 90. Have swapped thermostat which was opening but not very far. It’s still overheats. The top radiator hose is hot and the bottom hose is cold. I also have no heat in the cabin from the heater. I think it is either a blocked radiator or a failed water pump. Any suggestions how to try and diagnose which as both are pretty labour intensive to get out. key issues?

Engine cooling fan stays on permanently when engine switched off.
I have a 54 plate MK1 Octavia 1.9 tdi I have been having some problems with the air con coming on and off of its own accord now that I have fixed a couple of broken wires to the the fan control module. I now get a problem sometimes where the fan continues to run when the engine is switched off. The fan runs indefinitely in the first case until it flattened the battery. If I disconnect the battery for a few seconds the fan stops and doesn't start again when it is plugged back in. My intended first move would be to swap the fan control module, does this make sense, is there anything else I should try or know about. The Octavia does have climatronic aircon if that makes a difference.

Aircon alternates cold then warm
The outside temp stays constant on both the climatronic and dash and seems pretty close to actual temp.

Aircon alternates cold then warm
Annoyingly I can only get it to run warm when moving will try again, so can't see if the fans have stopped running or not. Will get the gas level checked fully.

Aircon alternates cold then warm
Kentphil, I will get the gas levels checked, I did try to get it checked before but the compressor wasn't kicking in due to the wiring fault. I do know it was showing a static pressure of 5 bar. The aircon was not working at all prior to fixing the wiring. It seems to blow nice and cold when it's cold it really is like it alternates between warm and cold for a couple of minutes each. It's an 04 plate Mk1 Octavia with climatronic. When the air con wasn't working it was showing no faults if I put the aircon into diagnostic mode I will check again tomorrow.

Aircon alternates cold then warm
I have fixed a couple of broken wires below the fan controller and the aircon now blows cold when you start the car but after a few minutes it goes warm. A few more minutes it goes cold and continues to alternate like this. Any pointers or places to focus my attention.

Help identifying broken wire below battery (MK1 1.9tdi Octavia)
HI, I am currently trying to sort out an air con problem where the compressor will not run and has no power to its clutch. I have found this wire that is down below the battery just to the side of the left hand fan (passenger side in the UK) the wire has rubbed through on one of the brackets below. Obviously I will cut out the damage and solder the joint and make weather proof, I was just wondering what the wire does, I think it is to do with the fans am I correct.
