  1. I think given the option of the hatch and the estate, if they were equally priced I would go for the estate over the hatch, but only because of the ease of carrying bikes on the estate with the roof bars. I think unless you are planning on carrying bikes, roof boxes or some gargantuan IKEA furniture packages then the hatchback makes more sense.
  2. I'm hoping it will be fine, but just in case the extended warranty already lined up.
  3. I think the DSG is a must have if you're doing a fair bit of mileage as it works so well with the adaptive cruise control, but if you're just doing a few local miles in it then a manual may well suit you better.
  4. Picked up my 1.4tsi dsg Sportline hatch about 3 weeks ago, I wanted an estate originally but budget constraints forced me towards the hatchback, its been brilliant so far though, hitting about 41 mpg, enough power to keep me ticking along and still plenty of room in the back! Must admit though the white doesn't stay white very long and so it's always in need of a wash! Great car though so whatever you end up going for I'm sure you'll be happy with.
  5. Hi Snackbox33, recieved them yesterday but only just put them in my sportline, they are very good quality and a decent fit even down the back of the seats , they are a really thick and fairly heavy matetial, far better and stronger than the Aldi ones in my opinion. On the negative side they do cover the electric seat adjustment, but I can live with that.
  6. Not sure about the heating as I don't have it ( will probably reduce the heating effect) but there is a slot in the side of the seat covers to accommodate the air bags potential expansion.
  7. Just purchased these off ebay, they seem great for the money (fairly thick material and a good fit) as the vrs seats are the same as the sportline. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F122807230404
  8. Recently picked up a 68 plate Sportline 1.4 Dsg in white, looked lovely when I picked it up and drives like a dream, but it's a bit filthy now its done 300 miles up a very gritty M5 / M6! Not looking forward to cleaning it every week
  9. Love the car though, an absolutely fantastic 290 mile trip back from Plymouth. That ACC is brilliant!
  10. Well I've picked up the new sportline and got it home safely at which point the missus pointed out that there's not much rubber on them wheels and you'd better not kerb them! The pressure is now well and truly on
  11. Thanks, yes it was a stock item, but I think I got a reasonable deal? Let's hope it's worth the 270 mile trip to pick it up. Hope you enjoy yours when the time comes!
  12. Thanks, picking mine up tomorrow so I'm getting a bit excited now
  13. Nice choice Imesparticus, I've had a change of mind and gone for the 1.4 dsg sportline in the end, I'm sure the 1.5 will be fine though! I'll be extending the warranty after 3 years too, better safe than sorry!
  14. There's a page on Honest John about it, VW are now saying it's no longer a characteristic and it's more of a "small problem" there's a hesitation and loss of power (possibly dangerous if pulling out of a busy junction) in first gear and when going into second gear, it's more previlant on the manual gearbox apparently but some people are reporting it on the dsg aswell. There's supposed to be a software fix coming in the next few months! It's stopped me buying the 1.5tsi at the moment, and we don't really want a diesel so we are in limbo and waiting for a definite fix before committing to a purchase. It may be worth speaking to your dealer about the issue, I would definitely give it a good examination upon receipt and make sure your happy with it before driving off.
  15. Well it seems VW have put there hands up and acknowledged there's a fault with the 1.5 engine, and I don't really want to go down the diesel road either. May have to look for a 1.4 option if the price is right, any opinions from owners of this engine as whether to go for a dsg or manual? Thanks.
  16. Seems like VW have acknowledged there's an issue, maybe no longer a characteristic? http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/news/owning-1/2019-01/volkswagen-acknowledges-problem-with-15-tsi-evo-engine/
  17. Thanks Too Tall, Test drove a Kodiaq (superb not available) with the 1.5 manual combination this morning at my local dealers (-2 degrees and iced up) so plenty cold enough. There is a hesitation there in 1st and a pause in 2nd before the engine picks up, but if you rev it to about 1800rpm it seems ok, or just release the clutch (no throttle input) and let the idle speed get you going and this method seems OK. Its not ideal but I think it is manageable although I'm testing a dsg version next and if that seems better I will probably end up with that.
  18. I road tested a 1.5 tsi manual Kodiaq today (although I'm looking at a superb) there is definitely some hesitation there when pulling away in 1st and then into 2nd with a little throttle input, but if you revved it a bit harder it seemed fine and if you just lifted the clutch with no throttle input it seemed OK, it wasn't horrendous but after this test drive I think I'm looking at a dsg instead (subject to future road test) Unbelievably quiet engine though, you wouldn't know it was running if it wasn't for the rev counter.
  19. Hi, I'm currently in the market for a new Superb mkIII but I've heard some stories about the 1.5tsi married to a manual gearbox suffering from kangarooing when setting off in 1st / 2nd gear. Does anyone have the above combination or have any comments or personal opinions on this pairing. Thanks.
  20. Is this issue effecting the 1.5tsi engine married to the DSG box or is it just the 1.5tsi with the manual box that's effected ? I'm in the market for a new Superb and may have to amend my shopping list as necessary! Anyone out there with a 1.5tsi in a superb with the kangarooing issue that can comment? Thanks.
  21. Hi Ketecantek, I'm currently getting about 45 mpg from the Avensis and would love the bigger engine in the Superb, but I'm trying to keep the costs down on the new superb as the budgets already swollen from 18k to 22k and I am really after a brand new one. So I'm still looking for the 1.5tsi with a DSG box, does anyone out there have one and if so is there any suggestion of the kangarooing problem or is it just confined to the 1.5 tsi married to the manual box? Thank you for the suggestion though.
  22. Thank you Oldmansomerset, Yes I believe the Avensis is no longer, shame really because I have had 12 years of pretty much hassle free motoring, I'm hoping the Superb will give me similar results.
  23. Thanks Surreyjohn, yes SE L executive. This sounds like a good compromise which keeps the price tag down a bit, just wandering if anyone has this 1.5tsi DSG combination and how they are finding it? Thanks.
  24. Hi, we are currently upgrading from a 2006 Avensis hatch to a new Superb estate, I was looking at a 1.5 tsi se exec but I'm a bit concerned about the 1st gear kangarooing problems being reported, should I stick to my guns and hope the TSI issue is resolved or pay out another couple of grand and go for the diesel with a DSG box? I only do about 8k miles a year, mostly A roads with a couple of miles of motorway. Any comments would be appreciated, thanks.
