  1. Having read both of the suggestions and progress of the locking /microswitch problems, I too have a similar puzzling Passenger lock mystery. My Fabia Classic is an all manual locking vehicle. The passenger door locking mechanism fails to unlock the door though the ' pull ' handle on the inside properly triggers the 'Open' button, but does not open the door from the inside or the outside. Furthermore when I put my manual key in the outer barrel it will only relock the button, there is no key pressure felt in the opening direction with the key. Using the methods of Hat Boy Harvey's suggestions have no effect. I obviously cannot remove the lock barrel until some miracle happens. Wd40 and PlusGas in the keyhole and door handle don't seem to work either. looking at the pictures of the locking mechanism to release the button and lock are not very obvious. Someone else said they had drilled out their lock so that they could lock and open from the inside. The key is not damaged and I thought possibly the key barrel itself may have stuck pawls as when frozen, or rusted but the lubrication should have dealt with that It appears to be like a screwdriver slot on the inner end. the local garage managed to get it open for its MOT this year- and it promptly locked itself the first time ' opened' from the inside. I take it that the immobiliser red light when the drivers door is locked does not immobilise the doors - just the engine? operation? Ian
  2. So a definite garage visit then! Thanks. Ian
  3. Thanks TMB does your advice cover my problem/fault code symptom too? I recall many years ago when windscreen wipers were vacuum operated that they had a vacuum bleed from the inlet manifold to a reservoir , a leak there affected both wipers and the air/fuel mix. my Problem can start at the first start attempt, or twice has stalled when at rest at traffic lights for instance, and feels as though only using 3 cyinders(i.e lacking power, slow to reach3-4K revs when revving)- and of course performed perfectly when describing to a friend! A recent suspected exhaust renewal fault was checked at the garage, but none found. I bought the fault code finder which returned the T0322 fault code- the only code found.
  4. I occasionally stall my Fabia Mk1 for no obvious reason; the car then runs under- throttled and under- powered. After stopping and parking for a while all becomes as normal . I used an OBD11 fault code finder to check the engine which returned just the one fault code P0322 -"Ignition/Dist Engine Spreed Input Circuit -No Signal". Is this something there is a simple fix for please-
  5. Have tried that but have given up for a bit other more important bits to sort out, but will keep at it till itv works- or try the dealer route my car is 2001 Y Reg, been very reliable except for the occasional misfire on No3 picked up by my ELM327 code checker. The misfire was intermittent and turned out to be a loose HT wire to the plug. Cheeras Ian
  6. When I manage to contact the dealer I'll find out what they charge for the verbal or mechanical service they provide, Interesting that Ebay are a source for this! Thanks Ian
  7. thank you Ken, I'll contact the Aldershot dealer with the vehicle chassis No' Cheers Ian
  8. Thank you Wino,Big John and KenONeill i went to the dealer this am who couldn't find my vehicle on his system for some reason, he said I'd have to remove the radio for them to find the matching code, though the radio is the original unit and the handbook says this shouldn't be necessary. I'll try the suggested methods again and see if that wakes it up. failing a result I'll go to original dealer in Aldershot who supplied the vehicle. I don't use it except when traffic detours and delays are being forecast. Thanks again, Ian
  9. Thanks Sepalchrave .That seems to be the answer, can't understand why though really, but thanks again. ian
  10. After disconnecting the battery terminals on my Mk1 Fabia the radio has gone blank. A 'SAFE' message is displayed, and appears to be looking for a code to be input to restart it. I seem to remember that there is a code card or something with the handbook but cannot find one. Can you help please? Thanks ianmcd
  11. Yes, thank you, checking item by item mentioned elsewhere
  12. Thanks TMB, I had just read the same comment from an earlier answer to the problem; I take it they are available from Halfords for instance? Ian
  13. Thank you tmb, xman, wino and fabdav;going to get started tomorrow most other cars I've owned had a plastic cover over the whole of the inner aperture, so all water was retained to drain through the bottomdrainage holes, so will be interested to see in the flesh on this one. Plenty of silicone sealant available to do the job!! ian
  14. Thank you WINO, I had been discussing this with TMB and had not tried the search facility! As it happens it has just been raining - lightly so far, and you are exactly correct to the photo- now to sort it properly! Thank you both for your help Ian
  15. I'm surprised that the reported leakages in the Mk1 Fabia haven't been identified as to their locality. Obvious things could be faulty roofrack grooves where they clip in, and gravity doing the rest, one of my next checks Thank you Ian..
