My local dealer has both 1.5 and 2.0 in used stock, so i'll go and try both this week. My gut feel is the 1.5 will be fine, it's the same engine I have in my Golf and I won't be towing (just need towbar for bike mount) or off-roading, so can live without the extra 35bhp and 4x4 - but we'll see. I should be fine with the 19"ers, I had them on my last VRS and only yelped a few times when hitting potholes. I'd rather live with that and the sportline's styling than go for comfort in a plainer exterior. I'd also rather not have the pano roof but seems it's standard on sportlines since the 2022 facelift and with proper maintenance, it can be a non-issue (wishful thinking maybe?) They're good looking cars and I like that there's still proper buttons inside for the heating, auto stop/start etc... My wife will be happier driving it than the Octavia estates and the boot will be so much more usable than the Golf (which doesn't even take my GOLF clubs comfortably!) Thanks all for the REALLY helpful insight. I think I can live with the 19" wheels as I had them on the mk4 VRS (without DCC) - but will be sure to really concentrate on ride quality during test drives. I might consider the SEL but the Sportline was the one that caught my eye and coming from a largely VRS and GTi background, I suspect it'll win through for me, even over comfort. I'll definitely buy approved used and look to use the all-in-one followup cover during my ownership, so hopefully things like headlights and boot struts aren't much of a concern. Is the pano roof standard on later models? basically I'll happily avoid it if I can.

After 7 years of Octavia VRS DSGs I made a foolish mistake in February and switched to a Golf mk8 1.5 manual. I've tried to adapt to it but ultimately can't stand the gearbox and having just had two weeks back in an auto hire car on holiday am looking to get back into a DSG and with a bigger boot. I saw a lovely Karoq Sportline in Nardo Grey whilst I was away and am currently thinking along those lines. I'd be looking at a used car, likely 2022/23. I will of course have a good read through here, but if you have any standout must haves or avoids to call out, please do so. I want a bigger boot than the Golf (521L vs 381L ✅), DSG and the ability to add a towbar bike mount - the Octavia's were a bit fussy on this, is the towbar an easy retrofit on the Karoq if need be? Pan roofs look nice, but I seem to remember reports of other VAG ones squeaking, creaking and leaking? The Golf's tech is punching above it's weight, it regularly warns me of imaginary lane creep and collisions, plus the whole system crashes from time to time, needing a restart to clear - My Octavia's were much better, any points of note with the Karoq? As I say, I will have a good look around on here, but would really appreciate early warning of any showstoppers, highlights or other thoughts.

Do also consider the All in plan, you extend the warranty, get two services, two MOTs and breakdown cover.

After 7 years of 2 x new Octavia VRS I sold my mk4 back to the dealer yesterday and am gonna grab a used Golf or the like as it's replacement. Both the mk3 and mk4 were awesome cars, I had little to no trouble (nothing at all with the mk4) and would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone wanting a spacious, subtle, powerful and comfortable car. I've only owned either VW, Audi, Skoda or Ford my whole motoring life (30yrs) and the two Skoda's have been the best. I just didn't need mine any more and it was sat on the drive depreciating, where as it should be being used and enjoyed. Whoever buys it will get a great car in practically new condition. I will miss it and may well be back, but in the meantime, thanks for the knowledge and friendly help. All the best.

Just had the same issue, my 2024 VRS won't take the A331H - I'll try the A335H next.

FWIW - 2024 VRS mk4.0, 9k miles covered over 22 months - best car I've ever owned, zero issues. "Would you avoid?" - absolutely not.

I've owned mine for 18 months and struggle to recall any issues with the infotainment- maybe once I had to turn it off and on once when an update got stuck, but nothing more.

I might have something on this @Jemm I believe your car is AUS spec right? - does the VIN end in 'T' ?

There's a chance I'll be looking to sell my car in the new year. It'll be pristine, 2 yrs old, 2yrs warranty left and only 10k miles. I don't want to sell privately, trade it, or go to WBAC or the like. Question is, do dealers buy cars for selling on as approved-used? or does it have to be a part ex?

I'd love to see a VRS running in the British or World Touring Car Championships with a kit like that. I'd feel a bit of a **** driving to Sainsbury's in it though.
