Alarming news : no alarm in Octavia 20-21 ?

Featured Replies

Hi ,

Could someone confirm whether this is true or not as I have had my car since May '23 and found out the hard way thru several breakins that the alarm is non existent in my vehicle. Was told recently by a car guy that that model has no alarm .Very confusing as I had it somewhere else for a service in another town last yesr and I asked the guy doing the service about the alarm and he said to me that it works fine .Mind you I have never heard it so cannot verify the validity of it. But, just asking..

Jemm.

Would need to know the VIN to check. It may well be that some markets didn't fit an alarm as standard, but it would surprise me a lot if no Octies at all had alarms over that period.

@Jemm Did you not get to the bottom of this back when there were all the posts and you explained what had and was happening?

Worth a mention you are in Australia.

I have a 20-21 Octavia and it has an alarm, I'm in UK.

Legally, it has to have an immobiliser, but no alarm. That said, I'd love to see a car made after 2000 that hasn't got an alarm (that isn't a track car or something silly).

How are you locking the car? I only ask as a double press of the lock button will lock the doors, but not deadbolt them, making it easier to open. I don't think the alarm is disengaged though. Are you KESSY - in range of the car?

Our 05 Fabia doesn't, but you may regard that as something silly.

This thread revealed a much more recent Skoda example:

Now that I think about it, my first car (2006 Fox) did have an aftermarket alarm.

I didn’t give it much thought - I presumed the previous owner was just safety conscious. I never considered it didn’t have one!

The request is a bit like saying you have a ball of string and asking here how long it is.

A lot more information is required from you as to what you are driving.

Your profile says you are Australia and your car is 2021 Octavia so with the delay getting new models here in Aus it is questionable whether it is even a mk4.

See @Ootohere's comment.

I read the original thread and literally can't make any sense of it. In fact, I can't make any sense of their entire profile. Either this is the unluckiest and most confused person in the world, or it's someone that needs to find a job.

A) Broken heater

B) Key somehow loses charge after a day

C) Car won't lock

D) It's been stolen several times

E) There is a draught coming from the floor

At this point, we have to assume it looks similar to this -

Of all the places on the internet to troll/have fun/scam people, who on earth picks a Skoda forum 😂

I might have something on this @Jemm I believe your car is AUS spec right? - does the VIN end in 'T' ?
