  1. Thanks for replies, Folks, and apologies for delay; strange times... I’ve yet to solve this. I’m loathe to go pulling trim off just yet, so any additional suggestions would be welcome.
  2. ...I'm at the point of considering bubblewrap for my poor, bleeding scalp!!
  3. Hi All After once again perforating my scalp on the (very) sharp corner of the refusing-to-snap closed sunglasses holder in the ceiling of my 2015 estate, I am returning to the Briskoda Well of Expertise! Previously the holder has occasionally been stubborn to close, but a little bit of gentle encouragement has always done the trick. No more it seems; no matter what I do, it will not close. The problem seems to be with the two small catches (or perhaps their 'receiving' part). Although fully intact, they aren't catching in the closed position. Has anyone had this issue (there seem to have been others with the issue in other Skoda models) and been able to resolve it satisfactorily? (I love my car so I will leave discussion as to why I have to resolve this issue at all in an L+K until another time...Grrr!!) Thanks in advance for any advice
  4. Hi &errece I didn't for mine and no issues. Advice is; take your time, be patient, work in good light...and don't forget to breathe!😉 Best of luck. It's a very satisfying fix when completed.
  5. Just a quick addendum to JFCarters instructions. These are super and were great to find; I would definitely not have undertaken this job had I not found this. My switch was getting increasingly sticky to the point where I was getting worried that it would soon fail to start at all. Having completed this job over the weekend it now just requires the faintest of touches. Very satisfying! I would say however that this job while relatively easy can be a bit tricky in places. I wouldn't leave it until late on a Sunday afternoon which will leave you with the sun going down when trying to put the steering column casing back together again.... The following additional info on one or two points from the original may help anyone who follows. Its worth pulling out the steering wheel to full extent to give you room for manouevre on removing the case. (Yes...totally obvious in hindsight) The 'four tabs to lift' had me stumped for a while as three of them are hidden at first! I've reattached JFCarters original image with an arrow to show where a gentle insertion and push of a small screwdriver will slide the holding clips on either side out of their grooves revealing two more plastic tabs. The fourth is under the part number sticker. I'm sure there is likely an easy way for those in the know (and please post if there is), but those tabs nearly broke my heart. I eventually resolved it by inserting some fine plastic pieces under the tabs when I lifted each one. (Don't do this job if you're not in a good mood or if your well of patience is run low). Once opened, the rest of the job ran pretty smoothly. I found conductive grease hard to locate so I just ended up with cleaning, letting dry and then reassembling. It may be that I'll be revisiting sooner than if I had the grease but for now its working perfectly. All in all, kudos to JFCarter again for original post, and fair play for undertaking originally without having instructions to hand!
  6. @Papfox Thanks for your advice. I contacted Skoda UK customer service who were very helpful. I followed up and contacted the dealership directly who were also very helpful. So far so good with my new Skoda experience; maybe I will learn to move on from Honda after all!!
  7. @Skoffski Thanks very much; there is definitely consolation in getting that clarification. Now I just need to figure whether 75k miles is an ok bet or not, and worth it for an L+K...!!
  8. @DJSmiley and others... Thanks for your help. Its probably just too much research that has my head fried! Taking the jump has not been eased by the negative internet stories and yet I know its just the horror stories that are reported. The difference in reliability between the DSG6 and &DSG7 is very useful to hear
  9. Hello I am trying to get full comprehensive service information for a possible Superb Mk3 Combi purchase. I have been supplied a summary print out from the Skoda ErWin site by the car reseller which lists the dates of services but not the detail. I would like to be able to contact the dealership directly but the dealerships are listed by number only. In my case the dealer number supplied is GB24059C. If anyone can help identify the dealership it would greatly help me in confirming whether the appropriate maintenance has been carried out. With thanks in advance
  10. Thanks All for replies so far....its great to get informed insight from Skoda converts! The L&K is on 18" alloys with brown leather. Neither have reversing cameras. @Markbro....you mention DCC which the L&K has; is the context of your question that the DCC may not be reliable if kept for a number of years? @xman...re: VRT. Enough to make a grown man cry; its roughly €4,500 for the L&K on import. The difficulty is that can be challenging to get models with a higher level of spec in Ireland. This creates rarity value for additional equipment/options and drives used car pricing.
  11. Further help from Skoda experts needed (in addition to my earlier DSG post). For a similar budget when imported to Ireland with appropriate taxes applied (our dreaded Vehicle Registration Tax-VRT), I can purchase a 2015 L&K with 75,000 miles or an 2016 SE L Executive with approx 40,000 miles. I normally tend towards a "lowest mileage best" outlook but the L&K with all its high spec finery has caught my eye! I'm concerned though that I may be somewhat blinded by that spec and that in fact the lower mileage still is more rational choice. Given that history and condition etc are similar, which way would you lean? PS purchase price may not look similar in £UK pricing terms but the spec levels of the L&K attract a significantly higher VRT rate, hence equivalency cost in Euro on import to Ireland
  12. Thanks for feedback. As I say, this is a first tentative outing into DSG territory so advice is greatly appreciated!
  13. I have been looking at the Superb Mk 3 estate (2.0 diesel) for a while and waiting for the 'right' used one to come along. I have been targeting the SE L Exec spec but recently spotted a 2015 L+K but with 75000 miles. I thought the car looked great so put a booking deposit on it (refundable). Now having read through countless reports of DSG issues my head hurts and my feet are becoming very cold! Should I be sensible and run from this one? And if not, what steps do I need to take to make sure I'm not in wallet burning territory? I'd new to Skoda (coming from a much loved Honda Accord 2.2 diesel) and would love to get feedback from experienced Skoda drivers.
