  1. >>>It seemed to occur if the revs drop to low and is an engine control feature That is what Skoda told me yesterday...if the engine goes below 900 rpm it will shut down to protect itself????????? I have the 2.0 D manual 4x4 and always thought it was me, I have never had a diesel stall so much. (previous Skoda Superb 2.0 D was ace) I ALWAYS turn off the stop start once its running. Its seems worse if you have dropped from 3rd to 2nd, let the clutch up and.....it stops!! Then the wife says she is having the same problems. Got rid of the 1.5TSI due to its software drive ability issues...looks like this one might be going!
  2. Here is my tale. The car was bought in February 2019, at first I thought it was me getting use to the car (shunting when cold and lack of throttle response) , but after 2 months especially with the dangerous no throttle response issue I went in to my local Skoda dealer. They advised a software update was needed an it was duly done on 1 April. Although better, it was not cured. My dealer advised there was little they could do until Skoda released another update. I contacted Skoda UK mainly to get things registered with them and again they advised it was in the hands of the software developers. I left it for a month or so but in the end I had a decision to make. As I understand it when looking to return a car under the Consumer rights act 2015 there are two main dates, 30 days and 6 months. 30 days is more of a no quibble guarantee, but after 6 months things start to get more complicated. My car was approaching 6 months so I decided to go along the route of rejecting, my reasoning was after one software update who was to say another would fix it and time was ticking. My car was under PCP finance, so I wrote out a letter putting all the dates and work done and my reason for looking to reject. I then went in to my local dealership where it was purchased, to me there is no point shouting at a dealership sales or service team, they often have their hands tied. The sales guy told me that I had to reject the car with Skoda UK (not true to my knowledge). I persisted and explained that I would be happy with a deal, as I had no problems with the Karoq other than the engine performance issues...if they had another NEW Karoq (not petrol) I would look at it. To cut a long story short, I basically asked to be kept at the same level (SEL) with all of the same additions I had already purchased. I was offered 2 new unregistered cars that were on stock for immediate sale. The sales adviser sat down and we negotiated a deal...the end result is this:- Skoda did me what I perceived as a good deal on my new Skoda. ( I am not going into the finances, but the old PCP was cancelled and a new one taken up and I contributed what I considered a reasonable amount). While It did cost me extra I gained 4x4 and electric tailgate not forgetting the retail value of the 2.0 D 4x4 is higher than the 1.5 TSI I my experience Skoda (my dealer and Skoda UK) wanted to help resolve the issue. Skoda UK offered some good will in the form of car accessories up to £700 (not a lot of use when most things are factory fitted) I am sure Skoda will sell on my old car (with or without an update), the car was swapped on Aug 10th 2019. I get it that not all on here are having the same experiences, but in my case my issues were dealt with professionally at all times. Flame me if you want, but that's what happened.
  3. Having had 2 updates on my Feb 2019 SEL and the problems not fixed... along with Skoda UK advising they did not know when it was likely to be fixed (as of 12 August) I decided to reject the car. It was coming up to 6 month old with 3000 miles on clock, so I negotiated a deal with my local dealership. I have no problem with the Karoq itself (just the engine) so ended up in a new diesel Karoq that was in stock.
  4. The engine ECU is adaptive, it fine tunes itself depending on how it is driven. Auto gearboxes are the same.
  5. MIne is the same as described by JakeB1941, the car is better to drive, my MPG is 40 but it still does bog down in first gear when COLD... on letting out the clutch and with the foot ON the accelerator there is a noticeable drop in power before it takes off. I now let the clutch up fully BEFORE pressing the accelerator as a workaround. Once it's warmed up it's fine.
  6. No matter what you do you can only minimise the risk...if a tealeaf wants the car they will take it one way or another. Years ago it was the remote keyfob signal that was intercepted allowing the car to be unlocked, now it is relaying of the signal...with keyless entry systems, it unlocks the car and the steering lock! Relay signal theft is not as common as just walking into the house and just taking the keys. Spare keys should also be in an RFID blocking bag and never leave your keys anywhere near your house doors!
  7. I started it cold today for the first time after the software update...It does not kangaroo, but it can bog down ever so slightly. To be fair it could be me now, as I am sensitive to these issues...but it is definitely an improvement. It still drives and responds well with no sign (so far) of zero throttle response. I have noticed, however, when cold it seems to hang on to the handbrake a little longer...you know you are pulling against it. Is this to load the engine or cause the driver to push the accelerator a little more...who knows? I am monitoring the consumption as well to see if there is an impact...with the driving I do it currently does 39 mpg.
  8. Mine is a 19 MY...can’t say about 18MY. The diagnosis system in Skoda dictates. I will update my posts soon with other info.
  9. Just got back from the Skoda dealership. I was advised there were 2 TPI's one for flat spot and one for first gear kangerooing. 1.5 hours later I got the car back. Initial impressions are the car feels smoother, it is certainly more responsive between gears on the throttle ( i drive in normal mode). When warm it does not kangeroo, I will have to wait until tomorrow when its cold as my problems materialised more when cold. For now, it drives as it should have from the beginning...it is a pleasure to drive.
  10. Personally, I think it is the ECU mapping and nothing to do with 2 cyl cutoff. I will let you know when the update is done.
  11. Hi cart10, sorry to say even with the raised floor the rear is not flat. I carry 3 Border Terriers with the seats up without a problem though.
  12. My 6 week old 1.5 TSI exhibits the same problems (bogging down in 2nd, kangarooing in first). I went into Skoda today and the car is booked in next Monday. They advised a software update for the first gear issue has been released to dealers as of Mon March 25th. Let's hope it cures at least one of the problems...if not both.
  13. This is the number on the floor itself
  14. Skoda supplied and fitted, this is the only visible information.
  15. I have a 2019 SEL Karoq 4x2 with Varioflex seating. Skoda has put in the side trims for a full-size spare wheel on top of the original trim. They also supplied a new boot floor. You will gain better floor height, more storage space under the floor and side access points to the Jack etc. You will lose easy access to the Varioflex seat controls and the small hook that holds up the floor.
