I don’t have a vcds is there anyone in lincoln or near who does maybe Leicester as I come regular. I don’t know what it could be never used to happen. I don’t mind driving to someone who has vcds

Hi so I got my car (2006 Skoda Octavia 2.0 diesel elegance retro fitted with a Columbus unit RNS510 (2010 model) back in 2019 and I changed the can gateway module with a 2013 skoda and had it coded by rustynuts Aka Andy on this forum. The unit stopped working months after so I have only just bought a new working unit. I unplugged the old one and I am planning to put the new one in as I want to sell the car. my question is as this car has a can gateway module for a 2013 And was previously coded in can I just plug the new unit in, it won’t drain my battery will it or do I need to have it recoded so it doesn’t, really hoping I don’t have to code it as I have a week to sell the car and don’t have a vcds code scanner just a minor handheld obd2 scanner. please help and answer if I need to scan and code or just plug and play.

Looking to purchase a Columbus unit RNS510 skoda for up to £100 ideally max maybe £120 please help was sold a unit on here which broke 2 months after owning it? Need a replacement

@Warrior193i have a diagnosis scanner. For vw cars and under the steering wheel section. No codes come up and I click clear codes it doesn’t go ? After the battery was changed it used to come up but then would always go but now it doesn’t disappear

Hello, please help I had my battery die so I got a new battery as it could hold new charge but now the power steering light won’t come off I turned the wheel to the right full lock then to the left even did it the other way it still didn’t work. I have drove the car and in the past that has made it come off. What more can I do 😭?

Any help is needed however rustynuts was very helpful before but doesn’t accept messages. But if you can help please feel free.

Hi Andy. I am contacting as back in 2019 I bought a Columbus unit RNS510 and you kindly coded it for me but after a couple months the unit screen stopped working. I see you do repairs, I took it to a auto sat nav repair shop and they said it had a data problem which was the reason the screen wasn’t working as the audio all works and buttons light up and work. They were charging a ridiculous amount over double at which I bought the unit for. Money is tight now I have a baby on the way and trying to buy a house so thought I could maybe bring the unit to you would you take a look at it for me. I included pictures of the unit the blank screen is the unit now the striped pictures are of the unit 3 years ago when it first broke. Much appreciated kind regards Adam @Rustynuts

Ok thanks will do I’ll check today and yeah the back demister works but when I turn on the heater and air con the dials work but nothing comes out no air flow or heat at all

What am I looking for corrosion or ? Also thanks for the help

Lol I literally have to wear gloves and massive jacket due to the cold weather and no heating also means my car front widows and side never get cleared from mist or ice. Do you have any suggestions to fix heating and aircon the back heated window works

Skoda Octavia MK2 2006 Elegance 2.0 Diesel I need some help firstly my air-con seems not to work as. The car was sat for a while and it hasn't worked since. The brakes seem slow and sloppy the brake pad light, TCS/ESP, ABS, ASR button are all illuminated when car is on. Codes which come up are. 00532 - 034 01/01 00290 - 035 01/01 01273 - 046 01/02 01134 - 100 01/01 00856 - 107 01/03 can replacing the cabin filter allow the aircon to blow as the car was sat for almost 6 months Also the rear wiper I fixed by replacing a year ago as it stopped permanently well it doesn’t move anymore surely it isn’t the rear wiper motor again do they wear out quickly due to the washer fluid going in between the cogs.

Ok I retro fitted a Columbus screen but other than that it’s all buttons I think I will take out the filter then clean it as it’s definitely due to the car sitting for a year. As for the abs are you saying to check the fuse box for a blown abs fuse cheers

I have searched and it could be just a blocked and dirty cabin filter under the glove box as the car was sitting for at least 8 months. Is this accurate compared to a full regas. Also don’t they change the cabin filter in a full service as I am about to have one soon. Lastly my breaks the abs brake light and esc light is on. The brake disc light also comes on this started happening before I stopped driving the car which I believe to be just changing the pads or faulty Skoda sensors. But these are the codes that came up. 00290 -035 Can bus 01/01 00833 -048 Can bus 01/01 01501 -044 Cab bus 01/06

Hi so I took it to auto electrician and pointed out the ‘kinked’ wire and it was not enough of a kink to cause damage and I thought that when I looked as I have had worse wires that worked still. They tested it and managed to open the door unlike the other ones and they told me it was just the motor needs changing and it’s plug and play meaning take it out out new one in.

Where abouts what picture as I know it’s the brown thick one but looks fine to me point it out if you can thank you so much

Ok yeah I know the brown is earth and I had a problem with this on my rear lights just needed the wiring fixing. I don’t have a voltage meter wire tester and I tried the window button it doesn’t work. I can try removing the door pillar panel. But I got my earth wire on my lights fixed for £20 so I could try ringing a place a auto electrician.

Can also access the wiring in the door jam but I have sprayed it and cleaned it and plugged it back in and it didn’t work
