Thanks for the reply. Actually, I haven't used the car since Saturday, but I went out in it this morning et voila! it's back working again. Weird! Thanks again :-)

Driver information screen is permanently black
Hi, the driver information screen (the rectangular screen between the speedometer and the rev counter) on my 2018 combi has suddenly stopped displaying information; it's completely black. Has anyone else experienced this? Found the solution?

Licence plate lights not working
Ah, OK. I'll investigate that. Thanks

Licence plate lights not working
Neither of the two licence plate lights on my wife's Roomster is working. I've replaced both bulbs and checked the fuse (fuse no. 17) which is not blown. Any ideas anyone? Thanks in anticipation

I collected the car yesterday. The battery was faulty and has been replaced FOC.

Many thanks for your replies. The breakdown transporter guy came from 20 kms away within the hour guaranteed by my insurance company (Direct Assurance). He was able to start the car with a hefty jump starter unit. I then drove it 5 kms to the garage that fitted the battery in January. They parked it up inside the garage, switched off the ignition, then tried to restart it, and... no go. So, the car is at the garage over the weekend and will be fixed on Monday. I'm so glad I had that zero kms breakdown option on my insurance policy!

Thanks very much. The battery was replaced on January 14th by a local garage! My insurance company have arranged for a breakdown truck which is on its way to me as I write this. The car will then be transported to the garage for a battery replacement under warranty.

Electronics suddenly gone crazy. Car won't start.
Hi all, Unlocked my Octavia 3 (2018) estate this morning, put the key in the ignition, and the electronics went crazy. Every fault you can think of came up in quick succession. I took a video of it, but the file is too large to upload here. So, I've put it on my website and placed a link to it here and hope that's OK. Any ideas anyone? All I can add is that I've been having 'key battery replacement' warnings lately even though I've tried brand new Varta batteries in the fob.

Infotainment screen totally blank for one journey - Bizarre
It happened to me on 12th June, just for one journey, and hasn't done it since, so I'm not too worried about it.

Infotainment screen totally blank for one journey - Bizarre
Thanks. So apparently a random, but not critical, issue

Ah, OK, thanks for that. Good to know I'm not the only one. I will take it to my local Skoda dealer if it happens again.

Infotainment screen totally blank for one journey - Bizarre
Yesterday, I set off for lunch with friends 20 kms away and noticed immediately that my infotainment screen was blank - totally black. Pressed the on/off button a couple of times - nothing. Turned the volume control and saw the green volume indicator at the top of screen, but tapping Nav, Radio, Phone, etc. produced nothing - I had a totally blank screen for the whole journey. Arrived at our friends and reversed into their driveway and the rear camera display came on. So, obviously it was not an issue with the screen itself. Late afternoon, I got in the car to come home, turned on the ignition, et voila! Everything was back to normal. Tried it on four separate occasions yesterday evening and this morning, and it's working as it should. So, bizarre behaviour and a little worrying. A. Has anyone else seen this behaviour? B Has anyone any idea what could have been the cause?

Tailgate pull-strap FUBAR
OK, thanks, So, just that one screw, and all the others are poppers. In that case, I'll give it a go (when it stops raining!)

Tailgate pull-strap FUBAR
The tailgate pull-strap on my wife's 2007 Roomster has broken. Is the tailgate interior panel just a pop-off - pop-on? If so, I could surely fix some sort of replacement for her to stop her getting her hands dirty. Has anyone else had this problem and effected a repair?

Leather steering wheel cleaning
I live in France and have a 2018 Combi 'Drive' with what looks like a leather steering wheel and gear pommel. We get lots of hot weather here and so the 'leather' gets dirty. So, I have two questions : 1. Is the 'leather' steering wheel (and 'leather' gear pommel for that matter) genuine leather ? 2. What method is best to clean it ? Thanks for your input

Dash Cam recomandations
It records your location and your speed. The software used with mine allows you to review every centimetre of your journey and the speed at every moment on a map, and on the video.

I know nothing about taking power from the OBD socket. I do know that some people have wired them direct to the fusebox. For my part, the Toguard came with a very long USB cable which was easy to hide and easily.reached the USB socket below the Infotainment screen. I just bought a very short 90 degree USB adapter so that the cable didn't protrude from the USB socket. The software supplied with this dashcam is excellent and was the deciding factor in my own purchase. Checkout this video at 1m 40s

The Toguard HD turns off after 3 minutes of driving. It powers on when I unlock the car and powers off when I lock (connected to the USB socket in front of the gear lever with a r/h connector)

Panoramic Roof Maintenance
OK, well, although my car was first registered in January 2018, I bought it with just 8,000 kms on the clock and even now it's only done 20,000 kms (12,500 miles) so I'm going to note all this info and see how things go in the future. Thanks again 🙂

Panoramic Roof Maintenance
I would never order one if buying new either but then I would never buy new. Like yours, this was a s/h vehicle which was exactly what I was looking for in all other respects and it just happened to come with a pano roof as well. Actually though, I do like the roof open in spring and autumn. I had a Honda S2000 before moving to France in 2003 and so I enjoy driving with my head exposed to the sky.

Panoramic Roof Maintenance
Well a huge thank you to you BigJakk for going to so much trouble to provide some very interesting information. I think I'll leave mine alone as it doesn't seem to bear much resemblance to the graphic you posted from the workshop manual. I think maybe my roof is a different design? BTW my hand is there to block the sun, not to say, "This is my PR" 🙂
