  1. I had a very similar issue on my 1.8 Octavia and managed to diagnose a bad PCV. If you have any or a mixture of these issues it could be the same issue on yours. engine misfires at idle. Lean air-fuel mixture. Presence of engine oil in PCV valve or hose. Increased oil consumption. Hard engine start. Rough engine idle. Possibly black smoke. Oil fouled spark plugs. There's a decent chance your PCV is stuck open I'm not going to get into it too much and I can't say I know enough about it to help, just adding my 2 cents based on what helped for me.
  2. I have a 1.8 TSI and have been worrying about my timing chain due to countless posts on the issue. I've just checked the timings using VCDS checking Camshaft adjustment and I've has these results. 720 /min Engine Speed (G28) 14.3 % Engine Load -2.01° Phase Position Bank 1 Intake 19:06:44 Group 091: Camshaft Adjustment (Bank 1 Intake) 720 /min Engine Speed (G28) 5.9 % Cam. Adjustment Intake Bank 1 38.0°KW Cam. Adjustment Intake B1 (spec.) 38.0°KW Cam. Adjustment Intake B1 (act.) 19:06:44 Group 094: Camshaft Adjustment (Intake) 720 /min Engine Speed (G28) 38.0°KW Cam. Adjustment Intake B1 (act.) System OK Cam. Adj. Test Bank 1 Intake Everything kind of looks okay but out of everything I've seen online I've never seen Cam Adjustment at 38°KW I'm not knowledgeable enough to know what this figure means but most online seem to have around the 28°KW. My engine was up to temp and at idle although the 38 °KW stayed the same cold or warm. I have a feeling i'm worrying about nothing but any help would be appreciated to put my mind to rest, Cheers
  3. I have been struggling with this for the last few days, I am trying to replace the headlight washer jett (1Z0955979A), The arm has snapped so i need to replace the whole thing. I can't find any forum posts on how to actually remove the jets i gave it a go the other day but couldn't for the life of me figure it out. I have a feeling i need to drop the bumper, the only info I did find said to pull out the nozzle and undo a clip but i need to take the whole assemberly out to replace the part that's cracked. I don't even need them with only halogens installed but I'm refilling my washer fluid every other day as it's just leaking out when it tries to wash the headlights. I'm not even sure that part number is correct for my Octavia mk2 Elegance 2009 as the new part looks slightly different but thats another issue
  4. Thank you so much this is really helpful, I've had this car well over a year and still finding things on the forum i had no idea I could do, I will test the lights to see what I've got. Cheers for the quick helpful reply.
  5. I have a Octavia 2 FL elegance I wanted to change my high beams to LED's but I'm confused as to what bulb I'm looking for. someone has told me that i need a H7 bulb that does high and low beam, but on forums it looks like i have 2 bulbs H7 for dipped and a H1 for the high beam. I would like to be able to upgrade just the high beam as the dipped are illegal (as far as I'm aware) and might be too bright. I do a lot of night time driving on county roads so use high beams a lot and would love to be able to see even better. My other question is if I have DRLs I read somewhere that I have to use the indicator stalk to turn them on would like to find out how to do so, and also get some LED's if I do. Any help would be great as I'm lost
  6. In that case it's probably me being paranoid, had the car stall a few times due to a PCV and coil pack and thought for a while i'd knocked something or lost a pipe
  7. Ah thank you very much, I feel like i can feel some pressure holding my finger against the hole, I've some issues with my car so have been checking everything but this stumped me I have since found more pictures online and they all look the same so I'm just being paranoid. thank you for your reply can stop worrying about it now
  8. I have a mk2 1.8tsi 2010 and have found what looks like a missing pipe, I found an old you tube video and their engine looks the same so i'm guessing everything is normal but I'm still curious The part i'm questioning is the pipe with the yellow paint in this picture
  9. I am having this exact issue with my 1.8TSI CDAA too, Changed PCV, Coil packs and spark plugs, small amount of oil on plugs nothing too bad for suspected 50k plugs. Rough idle occasionally still consuming a lot of oil, If I remove the oil cap or dipstick the engine cuts out. removed and checked the PCV pipes, and checked the intake and found a bit of oil on the inside. I'm very stuck at this point and not sure what else to try.
  10. Just checked through my paypal for around the same time I ordered the stereo, I did have to order a facia it was 28 quid so not the end of the world and they had the nice silver that matched my car. So might be worth a quick email to them to confirm the right facia and stereo.
  11. Here's a link to the video, sorry about the sun. Hopfully you can see enough, the fit is much nicer that just the rectangular unit with an obvious adapter plate. And if you get a reversing camera the park assist lines should just work and move with the steering wheel and are actually pretty accurate. I know its Chinese and maybe less support than the typical units but I cant fault it, anymore questions let's me know.
  12. Sorry for the reply time, I'll try and record it tomorrow, yeah Installed it myself it's wasn't too bad just tedious It was running a power and signal cable through the car, but power for the camera is on the stereo and is triggered when you select reverse so it was very easy to wire just a pain running the cable. I did damage the C pillar panel that I had to replace but that was on me and a very large flat headed screwdriver.
  13. Hi, I have the PE98MTVIPL, and I actually can't remember if i needed a fascia but I've checked my orders and couldn't find an order for one, I think from memory it came with a few different ones for compatibly, It would be worth messaging the support as they are very good and normally only take a day or so to reply. I also don't have the steering wheel controls but plugged it in any way so would be interested if you figure it out. I can get some videos of the AC controls, reversing sensors, and my added reversing camera if you'd like
  14. Sorry for taking so long been very busy doing nothing, My reg is LO59ZGJ
  15. Promise I'm not paid to say this but I have to go back to xtrons, my unit needed 4 screws to install and came with the cables, steering wheel controls, ac controls, reversing sensors and an after market reversing camera all work out the box + are all displayed on screen and having access to google play store means spotify and google maps works. It was a straight swap and has 3 usb ports with about 2 meters of cable. Android auto does work but you need and extra usb adapter sold on their site although I dont have this so cant comment, i can leave my house withouit a phone now I have this unit and get anywhere in the uk through downloaded maps and listen to any of my songs on spotify. Also my unit fits edge to edge so I have a much larger screen
