Octavia MKIII Scout fan smell
KyleHa replied to Johnfella's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I've recently just replaced my Pollen filter on my 68 octavia and GSF car parts have the MANN Polyphenol pollen filter on sale for £16 and the carbon one for £12 which is a bargain. I use a long flat head screwdriver with some masking tape over the end so I don't scratch anything to get the damper back on and it works a treat. -
Front differential service VRS 245

Hiya guys, thought I'd just update you for those interested in getting there Haldex serviced. Although it wasn't too clogged up I imagine if you followed Skoda servicing and just got the oil changed you might end up with problems eventually. 2018 VRS 245 DSG at 24,000 Miles. I don't drive fast nor do I hoon it everywhere I go, but I do like to give it some every now and then. Never launched the car ever and I don't think I ever will. Hope this helps someone decide whether they want just the oil or the filter cleaned out as well -
I had my headlight replaced by my local dealer under warranty even though I did not buy the car from them. They didn't quibble anything at all and just did it.

Front differential service VRS 245
KyleHa replied to KyleHa's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Hiya guys thanks for all the comments they've been very helpful. I rung up my service centre and they told me the only thing they do as part of the Differential service is change the oil, they do not touch the haldex pump or the filter behind it. Would you recommend I take my car somewhere more suited to doing this type of work? Thanks Kyle -
Front differential service VRS 245

I'm currently at 24,000 miles but by the time I take it in it will be 25000. I'll add it to the service tommorow when they are open and ask them about the filter cleaning. Thanks for getting back to me -
Hi guys, I have taken my 68 Octavia VRS 245 to skoda to book it in for a service (3rd service) and they've told me I need to get the front differential oil changed for £110. Is this needed or is it just a money maker from skoda? Thanks in advance :)

Gloss black B/C pillar VRS Estate
KyleHa replied to KyleHa's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
When I get home to find my passengers have left there greasy McDonald's fingers all over the top of the pillars 😓 Me wiping them off has probably contributed to the swirls. -

I've had a look on his page and found how he got them off, might give the clear film idea a go, thanks :) I've tried my best with all of your above techniques since I picked the car up but it's more when people are getting in/out the car they grab those pillars to shut the doors so I need something that is going to survive being handled. -
Hi all, I have got really bad swirls/scratches on my B/C pillars which are Gloss Black. I plan to polish them next weekend or possibly during week but has anyone got any ideas on how I can prevent it from happening after I polish them? I could put a clear film over them but I'd need to somehow stencil the shape and I dont know how I would do that? I was also thinking about a ceramic coating on them but would it last or even work for that matter? Just some thoughts on what I could do to prevent them from coming back would be great Thanks Kyle

A few questions about my 245 VRS
KyleHa replied to KyleHa's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I've already picked up some 5w30 Castrol Edge LL from Tesco, £15 which is abit steep but I won't be using too much of it anyways. Yeah it was an ex demo but it was in very good nick, couldn't fault anything on it. Struggled to find an estate that was reasonably priced in the 245 DSG not the 230. Thanks for all the help btw guys -
A few questions about my 245 VRS
KyleHa replied to KyleHa's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I think I'll wait out my warranty before I think of doing any upgrades I checked the oil Wednesday and it was perfectly fine. Only reason for buying the oil is eventually it will need a little top up and id rather buy it now than having to rush around for it when I need it. Miles wise it's only on 2950 and tbh it won't get driven more than 5-8k miles in one year anyways. -
A few questions about my 245 VRS
KyleHa replied to KyleHa's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I definitely don't have a sticker like that in my boot. I'll buy some 5w 30 Castrol today. Thank you very much for the assistance -
A few questions about my 245 VRS

Hi, i've taken the spare wheel out and had a good look around and I cannot find it. Would there be anywhere else it could be? Thanks -
Hi all, last weekend I picked up my 68 plate Octavia VRS 245 DSG estate in Meteor Grey (its absolutely amazing). I've just got a couple of questions that I'm struggling to find answers for. Where can I find my spec sticker in the car? What oil do I use for top ups? I've bought a touch up stick with the vehicle that has "SEDA STEEL" on it, but I thought skoda listed it as meteor grey? If anyone can answer any of those questions that would be great. All the best Kyle
