Kodiaq MY23 changes
And a kodiaq is a little plusher inside with some softer materials and a slightly better feel.

Kodiaq MY23 changes
They are generally making slightly plusher cars than VW. And they are still cheaper. I note reviewers keep commenting on why Skoda have been allowed to go more upmarket than VW itself. Or at the least to an equivalent level but still slightly lower OTR price.

Apple CarPlay and Virtual Cockpit question.
Rather than start a new thread. Apple CarPlay works beautifully with the virtual cockpit in that music and artwork are displayed perfectly. I would like to ask whether it’s possible to have speed signs displayed in the VC? I have managed to get them on the nav main screen but not in the VC. In our Arona the speeds display on the digital dash but that has the sign reading camera whereas my Kodiaq does not. If you don’t have the camera does that mean the map speeds are main screen only?

Kodiaq MY23 changes
I’ve had a kodiaq half a day and already had two people from the street over to ask what it is and one of them is heading down to the dealer tomorrow to have a proper look. So I’m not sure it isn’t a desirable car. It is. I think it’s not a luxury car and that’s the distinction. However, luxury cars would be the xc90, q7, X5, Range Rover sport, gls etc… And all of those are twice the price of a kodiaq or more. It’s like the Sportage in the mid size category. The Sportage is nice. It’s desirable. But it’s not going to cut it if you want a q5, xc60 or GLC. So it’s a desirable mid range car. Thats how I see the Kodiaq.

Kodiaq MY23 changes
On the kodiaq I picked up today there is a manual presumably the new 23 one that only covers the virtual cockpit and the 8 inch digital display. They gave me an addendum for the old analogue cockpit to go with it. So this change is pretty much confirmed. As for residual values I don’t agree actually I think the Kodiaq is a car that will retain its second hand value and has to an extent stayed very competitive relative to competition on price. If you want a 7 seat suv other than the Dacia the Kodiaq is superb value. It’s virtually impossible to get a Tarraco nowadays with the chip shortages (have a look see if you can find one) and the Tiguan Allspace if you spec equivalently is a bit pricier and looks a bit boring (sorry for those bit VW fans I used to be one but all their cars now just look like various golfs on stilts). I think the kodiaq will hold its value.

Anyone else ordered a new Kodiaq?
Picked up my black sportline this morning. Love it already. Fingers crossed for everyone else waiting. Word is that kodiaq lines are moving more rapidly now. So fingers crossed.

And the extra climate control screen. That’s in the Audis. It’s pointless and smudgy. But looks cool of course at first look. You are right that these things will eventually make their way but I wouldn’t be surprised to see some differentiation too as Skoda are going for their own design language now. And let’s face it the enyaq beats the e Tron in many ways.

Next update they get normally will be your car has left the factory and is on its way. Usually by end of build week or shortly after. Likelihood is yours already is built.

Kodiaq MY23 changes
Yeah the left and right are clearly not part of the screen. It would be interesting to see what options you have with the 8” screen. I assume they are limited to a few views of speed, revs etc rather than mapping or audio which one assumes is limited to the digital cockpit. The pictures above makes the Taigo one look ok but the kodiaq one looks worse than analogue instruments. I’d be interested to know how much customisation you have over it as it potentially reduces the value of the virtual cockpit considerably. It’s going to get confusing though as they are branding the full size digital cockpit as the pro but I believe Audi have a 12” version they call the pro and that is higher resolution and more functionality but that hasn’t made its way into any other vw products yet afaik. I do wonder whether VW will stick with the traditional cockpit setup or move to the dual screen setup many mid range brands are now going with. I like the cockpit really as it means the screen is shaded from the sun and also just looks more like a car than some sort of space ship. But the dual flat screens whilst looking fancy are I believe cheaper now for manufacturers rather than the moulded virtual cockpit solutions. I adore the virtual cockpit in my wife’s new Arona. It’s absolutely great.

Kodiaq MY23 changes
Ok I’d noticed the digital display thing in the spec for a while but thought it was just a typo. That though does look like a basic digital display is now standard and can be upgraded optionally to a 10.25” virtual cockpit as before. It’s odd they make that change now and not at facelift stage.

2022 kodiaq sel exec seats
My guess and it’s just a guess is that leather seats can mean you slide round a little more and therefore that’s why they contribute. However if that’s the case it’s less the leather and more the supportiveness and general ‘hug’ of the seat that matters. So I’d definitely test it out first before assuming it’s no good in any specific car.

Signed final paperwork for mine today. Hoping it arrives at dealer in time to pick up this week. If not be next week.

2022 kodiaq sel exec seats
I don’t really get what’s going on here. Firstly it’s odd to not be able to travel in leather seats. I’d first try test driving the actual sel seats. If they are no good then your options are to downgrade to SE Drive that comes with cloth seats or upgrade to the Alcantara of the sportline. That’s it. There are no seat upgrades or changes possible on the sel exec to move away from leather. You might even be better off with the sportline and the bucket seats as they hug you in tighter so might be a good choice for you. Other than price I can’t really imagine why you’d be unable to get a sportline over the sel and even price isn’t too much different. So again not sure what the reason there is. Or is it you have to wait too long for a sportline?

Anyone else ordered a new Kodiaq?
Just a dealer. Back in March ŠKODA suggested all kodiaq orders would be fulfilled by August and that is apparently still their aim.

Anyone else ordered a new Kodiaq?
They are working on building all historic orders by end of August. Whether that includes the really really old pre facelift ones I don’t know. But been told Skoda want to clear the Kodiaq backlog. I guess they want to do that and then shift to Enyaq.

Kodiaq MY23 changes
Given they didn’t do that for the major facelift revision they aren’t going to for a minor year update.

Kodiaq MY23 changes
There is a shortage of acoustic glass currently so I will be surprised if that makes it in.

Thick question over personalisation
Yeah I get that. My hope was only because I believe seat are using the newer VW software in their facelifts whereas the Kodiaq is still the older VW software as far as I know.

Thick question over personalisation
I’m a fairly technically competent person but I had exactly the same problem in the wife’s new Arona. Setting up the profiles proved impossible. A profile created in app signed info in the car but won’t let me use that profile as it wants a pin that I’ve set but car doesn’t recognise. Gave up when the servers for the thing went down for says. I was hoping it would be easier for the Kodiaq when that comes but sounds like it won’t be.

Presumably booking transport from the port they wait to fill one so less trips and less carbon emissions….but means customers have to wait longer. Never had the choice before. Dealer always just rung to say, car is here when can you get it. Imagine having the nerve to ring a customer who has waited so long, offer them a date then ask if they’d mind waiting…madness.

Apple CarPlay and Virtual Cockpit question.
Another virtual cockpit question…can you have the inbuilt navigation maps in your virtual cockpit and on the main infotainment screen at the same time? You can in our new Arona but saw a karoq demo where you can’t have map showing in both at same time. How is it in kodiaq?
-
Anyone else ordered a new Kodiaq?
That’s the plates. But the model years usually switch over June/July or at least used to. Model years just being minor spec changes each year bar facelifts…

Anyone else ordered a new Kodiaq?
That’s good news. That’s close. It does sound like they are starting to seriously shift these things off. Just hope it’s not the MY changeover week though for you…
-
Anyone else ordered a new Kodiaq?
Yeah it’s true, and that’s exactly what needs to happen. I’d be worried they won’t build it though. Not because of the money but because of the spec changes since they just say they can’t produce a car close enough to order…given it was pre facelift… The big problem with all this is Skoda and vw systems. You should be able to track your order. You should have a human being you can contact to discuss the order who isn’t a dealer - dealers don’t work for Skoda. They aren’t in any way able to do anything other than tell you the status they have on their system. So they need a proper system in place. With tracking numbers online checks and someone who will pick it up and sort it one way or another for you after a period of time. Speaking to dealers in the group they all saying the same thing. They are taking the blame for a situation they cannot manage. Once they place an order they can’t so anything about it. They can’t chase it. They can’t ask for an update. They can’t do anything. They are limited to recycling cancelled order build slots. Even then they are unable to change things without risking losing the build slot entirely. It’s a bad system. You might get away with it at Dacia prices. But let’s face it Skoda. /Seat/VW and Audi prices are more than high enough to expect a basic tracking system and some human interaction.

Yeah I suspect orders like yours are just lost in the system. Or deliberately lost. They have some sort of automatic scheduler so I’m told and I’m guessing it just isn’t working with orders that were placed so long ago and subsequent spec and price changes…it probably just can’t or isn’t assigning them appropriate build slots.
