  1. @MJ1 I don't have a DSG, but my manual 1.5TSI MY18 Karoq had an update at its first service in March, 2 weeks before national lockdown, so have done very little driving since. However since the cooler weather started, I've noticed 'wobbles' in low gear while the car is warming up. Can live with it in the current circumstances, but praying I never again get the life-threatening total power loss that I had before.
  2. In fairness the kangarooing was mainly in 1st, but the total power loss was in 2nd as I was working down the gears preparing to stop at a rounadabout / junction but then didn't need to stop, tried to accelerate and instead the engine just lost all power, not a stall. I now try to get out of 1st asap to avoid any kangarooing, but recently had to slow crawl up a hill close to my house due to road works. It was a total nightmare in the karoq.
  3. I've got a Karoq 1.5 TSI 150 manual MY18 which i bought outright (with aid of bank loan), but haven't had the letter. I did have a software update back in June or July bit still get slight kangarooing and 2nd gear hesitation, though no repeat (yet) of the total power loss at low rev in 2nd gear.
  4. I had to chase after reading about the issue on this forum and experiencing power loss and kangarooing. Have to say that Bristol Street Skoda Derby (part of Vertu group) couldn't have given a ****, it took a threat to demand a refund before they did anything and then no follow-up to see how things were going. Proper spivs.
  5. Also explains why they don't apply the fix at the factory, would probably need the vehicle emissions standard to be changed. Would also explain why VW dealership wouldn't register my brand new 1.5TSI Touran as it had the same engine. Shame they mess their customers around so much though...
  6. Agree with Eddie-NL. My MY18 Karoq engine issues were worse in the cooler weather before June. Even now when we have a slightly cooler day it wobbles a bit, which makes me think when the cold weather returns so will the issue.
  7. They might not fall out the sky, but when your engine dies on a roundabout or across a junction and you're a sitting duck until the engine software has sorted itself out and you can restart, it feels pretty scary. Luckily both those things happened to me when the traffic was light / low speed, but that was sheer luck...
  8. Its a sad indictment of how bad the engine problem was that, whatever they applied has made a big improvement, even if its not totally fixed the issue.
  9. Good news for MDVLA. I only had the software update applied to my Karoq after I sent an email to Bristol Street Skoda Derby stating the car was faulty and using advice given in previous posts in this topic thread. Low and behold, the car was quickly taken in for 2 days of diagnostics and the software update. Too early to tell if its fixed the issue, I've still had some kangarooing when first setting off, but engine more responsive at least. However, won't ever be buying a Volkswagen Group car again after 20years of driving VW and now Skoda.
  10. Ok, further to my earlier post about Bristol Street Skoda Derby booking me in to do the software update. Well, it didn't happen, seems they have to do a diagnosis, send the report to Skoda if there was an 'event' and then they will be authorised to do an update. Only problem is they've now gone quiet on, no response to emails requesting a progress report. Added to that, the power failure problem hit again leaving me stranded with lots of cars waiting for the Karoq to reset and restart. I appreciate Skoda pulled the last software patch, but how long do they leave this? Until someone has a major accident? Seems so hit and miss between respectable dealers and those that just string you along.
  11. Given that there are now 3 people, including myself, who've reported power failure at junctions / roundabouts (and we're probably a small fraction of those experiencing the issue who have gone public on this forum), how long is it going to be before someone has a serious accident or there's a fatality due to this engine 'hesitation'? Is it not something that can be raised more officially with DVLA / VOSA / Trading Standards and how?
  12. Had good news from my Dealer, Bristol Street Skoda Derby. Checked they were aware of the issue and software update before I take the Karoq in and they confirmed they were, so will hopefully avoid the experience some of those who've posted have had.
  13. That chimes with my experience with VW Parkway when I ordered a Touran 1.5 TSI. Took 15weeks to arrive then they wouldn't give it me because emissions were too high, which was going to hit their profits if they started getting fined for every gram over their quota. No apology, no token offer of compensation, had to wait until hit their late delivery clause before I could cancel with no penalty.
  14. Another ulterior motive for not applying the fix to all new cars is that it could raise the official CO2 emissions of the Karoq TSI range, which would impact on the Skoda Emissions total pushing them over their maximum allowance. They then get fined for every gram over. It's why VW couldn't register the new Touran 1.5TSI I'd bought last November, emissions were too high. Don't think they produce the model now.
  15. Hi, I bought it from the dealer (Bristol Street Skoda Derby) as new, it was pre-registered by the dealer 2 days before I picked it up and re-registered it. Not sure why they'd had it for so long before selling.
  16. Thanks Biggles33. I always thought something wasn't right with the low power in 1st & 2nd, but haven't driven a petrol engine for 15+years, always had VW 2.0 TDIs so just put it down to the new engine. Am seriously peeved at VW Group as had to walk away from buying a brand new Touran due to emissions testing certs / VOSA tests, now this with the Skoda.
  17. Glad I found this post. My Sept 2018 which I bought in March completely lost power as I entered a major roundabout. Took 2 goes to restart. It also kangaroos badly in low gear. Booked it in for software patch which I'm expecting Bristol Street Skoda to do under warranty.
  18. Booked my Karoq in for the software update. Did everyone whose had the update get this done free under warranty? Bristol Street Skoda Derby wouldn't commit when I asked.
