  1. thanks all, this has been sorted out. Don't have much details what was done, but I was told there was no physical fault with AutoHold system and the fix was applied through "programming". I don't know weather it was full SW upgrade or just AutoHold subsystem tweak. The button now works as expected.
  2. Thanks guys, really appreciate your replies ! Let's see how quickly they fix it. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !
  3. I don't have the car now, it is with the dealer. I can only try that when I collect it, but at that point I assume any issues with AutoHold should be fixed. I actually spotted this AutoHold problem when I reversed into a parking bay at the dealership - I wanted to turn AutoHold off for a smoother maneuvering, as I could feel that with "AutoHold - ON" the car lurched when pressing the accelerator pedal. That's when I realized it is always on and raised the question with the dealer.
  4. OK, I'll try that... What would that confirm though ? I assume the Auto Hold button light would be still on, right ? it is just dashboard wouldn't have the green (P) light when brakes pedal is pressed in neutral ?
  5. No, I'm not pressing and holding, i just press once. I had Superb MK3 before, so i have an idea how it works. (previous one was manual though, this one is DSG, but I assume it should behave in a similar manner - at least manual doesn't say there is a difference in Auto Hold system between manual / DSG)
  6. I'm dealing with a sales person , he talks to their service department. I'm annoyed not by the fact the car has a small problem (oh well...), but by the fact they are trying to tell me that it is perfectly normal to have "auto hold - always on" just because "it was done at the factory". When i asked if previous owner could programmed that intentionally (for whatever reason), I was told it is impossible as ECU can only be programmed at the factory.
  7. 2016, DSG, button is there (i think all superbs MK3 have it) Yes, that's what I did - showed them the button and explained that it is not working as expected.
  8. I hope they eventually do this and that solves the problem ! I haven't got any updates from them, they told me it will be after Christmas anyway.
  9. Yes, I agree, it doesn't make any sense to code it permanently ON, as it stays on, if turned on (unlike "start/stop" system) Fingers crossed it is just a simple ECU coding and nothing more serious or hidden...
  10. Hi all, A few days ago I bought an "approved used" Skoda Superb MK3 from a Skoda dealer. When I came to collect the car, I noticed that the "Auto Hold" button can't be turned off - it is always "on". I raised that with the dealer. Initially they thought there was a problem with the button itself, but that was ruled out. Now they say that "Auto Hold - always on" was programmed into the car's ECU at build. It was done at the Skoda's factory. They don't know why it was done - maybe previous owner requested that from Skoda (?) or maybe it was programmed like that for safety reasons, because the car has a tow bar. They don't believe there is a fault with Auto Hold, but rather normal behavior, because the car was programmed like that at Skoda's factory. I refused collection of the car and left it with the dealer to sort out "Auto Hold" The dealer says they need to contact Skoda to find out why ECU was programmed like that and how to revert Auto Hold system to standard settings. Has anyone seen/heard this before ? cars come from the factory with non-standard ECU settings / "auto hold - always on" ? thanks
  11. @toot 35K when 3 y.o. at the MOT 2020. It has done 49K now. 3 month warranty, but i didn't have a chance to read full T&Cs. TBH, I don't think it is a bargain, and this situation with the smell of exhaust fumes makes me think there can be a hidden problem... thanks
  12. Hi Warrior193, Thanks Just to clarify - "white smoke" was probably an overstatement, it looked more like steam, but had a strong smell, which I never experienced on my Superb.
  13. Hi All, My lovely Skoda Superb L&K 2016 was involved in a car accident last week and my insurance company says it does not make economical sense to repair it, so they consider it as a "write-off". I'm now looking to buy something similar (btw, if you are selling - let me know...) Today I visited a car dealership to look at a L&K 2017 TDI 2.0 SCR 190 While looking at this car and having a test drive, I noticed the smell of diesel exhaust fumes (not inside the car, only outside), as if it was an old diesel van. There wasn't any black smoke coming from the exhaust, but a bit of white smoke which is usual for colder weather like it was today. My previous Superb was 110kW/150PS CRLB engine with EGR, and didn't require AdBlue. You would never know it was a diesel because there was no smell coming out of it, honestly. The car I looked at today, was 140kw/190PS DFCA engine with SCR, which requires AdBlue. The car was serviced by a Skoda dealer for the first two years (last record Nov 2019). Not clear if/where it was serviced between 2019 and 2022. I do not know if the smell was specific to that car and indicated potential problems with the engine, or whether it is something common for more powerful engines that use SCR/AdBlue ? So, here is the question for Superb MK3 owners with engines 190PS and above - does your car produce any smelly diesel fumes? Thanks in advance
