Octavia MK4 Stop/Start Settings
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!! I am getting rather frustrated with the Stop/Start system on my Octavia mk4 VRS Automatic. Why oh why did Skoda in there infinite wisdow decide to stick the button to turn the Stop/Start off in the infotainment system and not give it a physical button (as per the mk3 3.5). Does anyone have any info on getting this system to memorise the setting to the OFF position so that I have not got to fumble through th infotainment menus each time I turn the car on? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Dead Battery-VRS mk 4.5
I have an Octavia VRS MK4 2024 plate, which appears to also have a faulty battery. Kept throwing up 20-30 engine management warnings then resetting itself after I drove for a period. Had it checked by an independent garage which have confirmed the battery is only at 64% helth. Contacted Skoda main dealer today to discuss but they cannot confirm that this is a warranrty item and it will cost me £168 to get it booked in for diagnosis and another almost £30 for a car to use whilst its being check (which apparently needs the whole day!!!!). To be honest I have told then to poke this where the sun doesnt shine as a replacement battery is between £180 and £300 depending on they battery typr you opt for. I honestly think its all to do with the stop/start system switching off far too early for the battery to cope with. Just gonna biite the bullet and opt for an AGM battery which apparently are a much better option for modern cars with high spec/demand electrical equipment. I have also resided to the fact that I turn the Stop/Start system off each time I get in the car. I am also looking at getting this to permanently stay off via coding. I know this doesnt help you situation much but the advise might be of use Tony

VRS Brake Discs & Pads
Hi. I have a mk 3 VRS petrol which I have had a stage 1 remap which is now pushing out around 300BHP. I have uprated the clutch to a much needed hi torque set up. I now want to upgrade the discs and pads. All has been well on the original OEM so far (340mm discs), however I need to change them and I figured while im taking the old out I may as well stick a set of uprated items in. Anyone have any good advice on which brand/s or manufacturer to opt for? Any advice would be greatly recieved. P.S. I only want to swap out the discs and pads, not the calipers.

Installing Satnav
Hi Markjd Just a quick bit of info regarding your Fabia SatNav. Be very careful regarding paying for Skoda for the SatNav activation if that's the option you were looking at. There is a massive issue at the present time with the TMC (Traffic Message Centre). This is the system that will update your SatNav journey due to traffic reports, accidents, hold ups, traffic congestion etc. The company VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group) use to do this job is Trafficmaster which appears to have stopped this service completely. Leaving VAG car owners alone with many other vehicle manufacturers with this issue of SatNavs not updating or rerouting your journey to avoid hold ups. This has become more and more evident with reports on many forums, websites across the internet since the early part of this year. I have SatNav activated on my Octavia which stopped it's traffic reports around April/May and I only noticed this when driving to Heathrow to pick up my Daughter from her holiday. I got stuck in a 2 hour delay due to this system not updating and rerouting my journey. I have since chosen to upgrade my infotainment system to one that has the smart link installed (Apple Carplay and Android Auto). This then mirrors your mobile therefore giving you Google maps or alternative SatNav options. Just a little food for thought before you go giving a dealership your hard earned pennies. Hope this helps somewhat in your decisions.

Infotainment Upgrades
Hi Froggattr I had the exact same unit installed in my Octavia 2015. Just uograded the MIB I (glovebox), Screen and the USB port beloew the aircon controls. The guy to speak with is pab567. Absolute hero when it comes to knowing whats what regarding skoda ICE. After speaking with him he suggested what I would need based on what upgrade/s I wanted. He ordered the parts, I paid (you will also need to factor in import tax), then within 5 days recieved all in the post. The install took about 30 mins to swap out the old sysyrem with the new (All plug and play). You will also need to take a back up of your infotainment system for Pab to program the replacement for your car. I would recommend him in a heartbeat
