I had the same issue and performed the same fix. I have not yet had a full winter to ensure the connection still works, but I know how to fix it now!

I had a similar issue, the mechanic had replaced my battery but put the positive cables outside the plastic box instead of inside. As such, the lid could not close and therefore rattled around. It took me 6 months to work it out!

It was both a heat shield and the dust cover for the breaks, yet to fix the dust cover! Thanks for the idea!

I, too, have a Skoda superb 2013, with a loose heat shield. I tried to fix it with the aforementioned beer can bottoms, and retained a little shaking. I'll take a look at a few of these discussions.
