  1. Cool, I'll get them ordered. Are these a reliable company to order from? Also I assume these are better than say buying Sachs?
  2. Cheers I've just done that and it's very handy. However it's only coming up with one shock? https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/5q0413031lh-front-shock-absorber-skoda-27310.html Does the LH denote left hand side? Are they side specific?
  3. Hey everyone Can anyone help? On my recent MOT it was picked up that my front shocks are leaking, granted it's a 2016 VRs with 60k on the clock so probably due a change. Now I am trying to source two front replacement OEM shocks but there are so many different ones out there when you search, mine is also the rarer 230 edition so I want to make sure I get the right ones. How do I find out which ones fit my car? Can anyone help? I'm feeling that I should stick with OEM but is there better 3rd party stuff out there? Cheers all.
  4. Cheers, I'll check it out thank you. I have not the report yet although I might have to but Skoda want £90 for that which is frustrating considering the defect is so obvious but I may have to do it to get the ball rolling. With regards to Skoda Customer services I did get as far as the resolution person however they said they didn't have much leverage on the dealership as ultimately it lies with the dealership and the warranty claims manager they said. They also said as the car is 8 years old that this is acceptable wear and tear, which I totally disagree with. It's not an area that is subject to abuse like say alloy wheels or your bonnet, this to me is a paint defect from the factory. If this area was rusting instead what is the difference? Yes it is like that Piano Black finish, it is a type of plastic or acrylic by feel. In my opinion I think it should come under paintwork as this has been done at the factory and is not upto standard. The thing is I would accept door edge strips or rusty windscreen arms as they are subject to wear and tear but this area isn't in an area subject to such wear and tear. Car is a 66 plate so nearly 8 years old, purchased when nearly 3 years old. Yes it is the roof, area surrounding the sun roof. That part number is definitely the roof area 🙂 I hope it was done on the Skoda paint line, so frustrating its failed like this. If this was rust instead of liqueur peel on a plastic type material I feel this would be covered. I totally agree it should be warranted but they are trying to say the age of vehicle (8 years in October 25) they are saying its acceptable wear and tear (in an area that doesn't get wear and tear) Yeah I have spoken to body shop and they said they can fix it but its an awkward repair which would involve windscreen out and there is no guarantee the fix would last, he said better off getting new part and fitting it. The panel is bonded to the roof so really awkward to remove by all accounts.
  5. 10 months on and still not any resolution to this issue. Skoda unfortunately have been no help, I argued this is more than normal wear and tear and should be replaced, they disagreed as it constitutes normal wear and tear!? Raised it with Skoda Customer services and they said nothing they can do to force the local franchise to do it which I thought was odd. The dealer wouldn't tell me the part I needed (managed to find it via a very helpful member here) however even if the dealer could get it they said they can't fit it and I would need to get a local bodyshop to fit it. Enquired with local body shop and he said that he could fit it or repair the lacquer peel but probably would involve windscreen out to do it and even then it wouldn't be a lasting repair long term. I even asked Autoglass and National Windscreen to help but they said they wouldn't fit that even though its bonded in like a windscreen So basically new part it would be at £545 before fitting if I want to go down that route. Has anyone else had this issue and been able to get it replaced/some form of resolution as it is getting worse or new part fitted? I believe a lot of the VW Golfs suffer from this issue. The part number is 5E0877059 but can't find it anywhere to buy.
  6. Hey all, can anyone help. Just got a trolley jack to swap over to winter wheels, I know I can jack up on pinch weld but ideally don't want to as it can damage the pinch weld, is there any alternative jacking points that I can use with a piece of wood? Or can I jack up on the pinch weld but using slotted puck? Sorry I am a newbie on this.
  7. Morning All Skoda Octavia VRS Mk3 Jacking Points I am wanting to swap a set of wheels around on my VRS shortly and investing in the stuff to give this a go myself at home for the first time. Could someone just advise is the jacking points on the sill on my car or can you move the jacking points in closer towards middle of the car? If someone would be kind enough to show where the correct jacking points are, someone said to me a trolley jack may not be suitable as I'd be jacking up on the sills, although this does't sound correct? Only other place I can see to jack up on is in photo attached, would this be better? Don't really want to jack up on sills if I can help it. The jack I'm wanting to order only has flat bottom lifting area so would be no good lifting on sills. Also someone suggested I needed these to use a trolley jack but I'm confused as others say that you can lift in area outlined in the photo, it's all confusing and very new to all of this as want to learn to do it myself. https://www.akstuning.co.uk/shop/home/976-12155-genuine-vag-jacking-point-replacemementupgrade-kit-mqb-platform.html#/1012-jacking_point_options-vw_golf_mk7 Thanks all
  8. Hey All I noticed washing the car the other day on the rood a thin layer of lacquer is starting to peel away from the edge of the roof panel, the area that's close the sunroof on our car. I have attached photo of said defect. I booked the car in this morning to be checked hoping that it would be covered under Skodas 10 year paint guarantee but they said its not covered and that the replacement part would be approx £550 for the new panel. I asked how much fitting would be to then be told they couldn't fit it and I would have to go to local bodyshop to get my current one resprayed. I am trying Skoda customer services now to see what they say but has anyone else had this issue with their gloss roof on their Octavia? and has anyone had any luck with Skoda customer services to resolve issues like this? Granted I know its a 66 plate Octavia but I do feel this is premature wear to a part that is not directly in the elements like say a bumper or bonnet is.
  9. Do did you just go like for like swap in terms of size of tyre/alloy? Many thanks for the advice, I didn't know that I had slightly different size on the car to what they normally come with. These were on the vrs when I got it so just assumed that was the right size. What's the advantages running the 235 vs 225? The steel rims aren't the best looking but they do provide something that you wouldn't be to bothered about getting trashed in the salt etc. Is it possible just to do direct swap and get winter/all season tyres to fit over my existing 19 rims and then I'll purchase brand new set of alloys and put summer tyres on them and swap them over on car when needed throughout the year? This might be the easiest option for me as my current set of Xtrem alloys need refurbishment anyway. I presume I'd have to ask the dealer about the winter package? It's just knowing which rim to drop down to from 19inch.
  10. Winter tyres, I need some advice. I have got 19" wheels on my 2016 230 VRS. I assume that you should stick with the same size tyres (currently 235/35 R19 91Y POTENZA SPORT XL) for winter tyres but I have read some people go smaller tyres? Also do most people buy a new set of alloys to put their winter/all season tyres on? and just swap the wheels over rather than swapping the tyres at end of each winter? Also any recommendations on winter or all season tyres?
  11. Which guide did you follow to do it/how did you do it and did you use battery charger for it or did you do it with engine on? I'm just about to go out and buy SD card, which SD card do you have as that is very quick.
  12. Just quick question guys but I don't have a battery charger, can you do it without one?
  13. Hey @pab567just wondering if you had chance to look at mine? I posted earlier but wasn't sure if your reply was to mine or someone else's post? No worries if it was to me, appreciate you having a look. 14. Did you put the logos in root directory or a separate directory?
  15. Am I being a bit thick as I am sure I have done this before with no issue. I have downloaded the latest radio logos via the update portal and put them on the Nav SD card that comes with the car. Gone to station logo select via the radio system and can't get access to the files, all the options are blanked/greyed out. Does it need to be on a separate SD card and does it need to be formatted FAT32?
