  1. Bit of an old thread but the information is still relevant and helped he today to find the sensor. I couldn't get one today so I just cleaned the plug / socket with contact cleaner and put it back in. Ran VCDS again, cleared the fault and it didn't come back (yet). This started off as a weird problem, driving along put the car into Sport. foot down, engine temperature went to the top, 2 minute later back to the middle. Next happened again. Last night air wouldn't come out of the middle dash vents, with the sensor working the vents are open again. Things are over engineered sometimes, years ago I had an old VW camper van, For fresh air a level open a flap at the front... For reference have a 2019 Superb Sportline +.
  2. Hi all, I got an email the other day says that my Skoda Connect and Infotainment Online are about to expire and I need to shell out some cash to keep them live. Any time I have ever used Informainment online I have had to connect the car to my phone. I contacted Skoda and they said I should contact my dealer for a sim card... the car must already have a sim card as I can use the Skoda connect to view the cars location, lock the doors and other remote stuff. Infotainment online seams expensive if you need to connect it to the internet using my phone, it doesn't really provide much.... am I missing something here?
  3. Yes it would have been a nice thing to have. When I read the specification I really thought it had one but Skoda terminology is a bit vague. Headlight assist for example.
  4. Hello all, I have seen a couple of mentions on Briskoda about the auxiliary heater / supplementary heater fitted to the Superb Mk III. The car has an electric supplementary heater but the car is advertised with an auxiliary heater. I bought my car about a month ago thinking it has a aux heater as part of the specification only to find out after I bought it the VW / Skoda terminology was wrong. Auxiliary Heating System: - https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/press-releases/warm-safe-clever-skoda-auxiliary-heating-systems/ Youtube Skoda Connect Skoda - Auxiliary Heater: The below is from a similar used car on the skoda web site: - From the Skoda Superb Instruction Manual Skoda replied to me saying: - The information in the advert is pulled through automatically from CAP, our Product Marketing department have spoken to CAP, and for the pre facelift SUPERB every car which had an ‘electric auxiliary heater’ has the specification listed as ‘auxiliary heater’. For facelift SUPERB the description has been extended to ‘electric auxiliary heater’. So for anyone who is thinking of buying a Skoda Superb it has an electric supplementary heater not an auxiliary heater (parking heater).
  5. I have their name and job title. The guy I spoke to was very high up in Birchwood.... Skoda brand leader! I am shocked by their attitude. I requested the car to repaired to factor standard, this was reject as was my request to reject the car. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 I'm sure I have a right to reject or at least have repair... anyway they will be receiving the paperwork for the HM Courts and Tribunals service in the next day or so.
  6. Yes the report / quote is from RMB Auto who are a VW approved body shop. https://www.rmbauto.co.uk/autoparc/bodyshop/skoda/ The man who did the inspection was very thorough he measured paint depth etc. Someone from Birchwood phoned me earlier, he said “you can’t reject the car, get a solicitors letter and I will still say no”. Under the Consumer Rights Act / Section 9 goods should be of satisfactory quality and free from defects.
  7. They are a franchise dealer but not an Approved Used car retailer. I guess they are approved to sell new cars but not used ones. I have found out that the car I bought was an demonstrator owned by them... It's all a bit weird. Skoda say the car has a manufacturers warranty.
  8. Apparently Birchwood ŠKODA aren't a Used & Approved Retailer... how does that work?
  9. Hello all, about three weeks ago I bought a Skoda Superb SportLine Plus. It's a nice car, there is another topic on Briskoda about the paint... Birchwood Skoda in Eastbourne have done a really bad repair to the bonnet and invalidated the paint warranty. Anyway, they think this is OK because of the car isn't an 'approved' used car, it is 6 months old. Am I missing something here, Birchwood are a Skoda dealership, what is the difference between a 6 month old approved used Skoda and a car that is not approved?
  10. After a week or so of owning the car I really like it especially the adaptive cruise control. I am averaging about 60+ MPG on a run which I never though would be achievable for such a large car. My old Merc did about 38MPG so I will be saving a good deal of cash in diesel. As for paint and Birchwood Skoda, Skoda Customer Services etc. I might as well talk to a brick wall. Birchwood told Skoda that the car only has a 'smart' repair to the bumper, not the bonnet... I have ask for a formal response from Birchwood then i'm either going to court to the Motor Ombudsman or Smalls Claims Court. You can do the Small Claims route through Money Claimed Online. All I want is a bonnet with a lump of filler and dodgy paint job!. As of the aux heater, the car has a supplementary electric heater not an aux / parking heater so it's a bad Skoda terminology thing. Even in the car manual the optional auxiliary / parking heater is referred to a an auxiliary heater. In the car setting the supplementary heater is called an auxiliary heater. Ad for Park Pilot and Park Assist, Light Assist, Light Assist with high beam control it's all a bit woolly.
  11. The first line of the advert on Autotrader - This car is in fantastic condition
  12. I had a Skoda Mechanic look at the tyres this morning at a local dealership, he was also an MOT inspector. He said the tyres would pass an MOT. The bit of rubber that was cut was a piece of the rim protector and the cord / casing of the tyre wasn't showing. Yes, I should have checked everything better. Look like the dealership are going to collect the car, it's a shame really really like it.
  13. We went out tonight for my Dad's 80th Birthday. My Mrs said when have you done here, I said nothing what's up. Them I looked at the Alloy on the passenger side, it's been kerbed. I have only driven the f'in car 4 times it takes me at least a month to destroy a wheel. Anyway I checked the others, please see the photos. One is certainly an MOT failure. I have just sent an email to Birchwood Skoda saying i'm rejecting the car. They will need to arrange collection as the tyres aren't safe. I have photos from the dealership that show the damage was apparent to the offside rear wheel. I'm really f'cked off.
  14. I spoke to their Sales manager earlier. He told me that the car has had a repair, I think it cost them £150+VAT to cover some stone chips. Earlier today I took the car to a Skoda approved bodyshop to see what it would cost to get the bodge repaired. I am waiting for the quote. The examiner went over the whole car with a paint depth meter, about 1/8th of the bonnet has been sprayed. One part was over 1mm thick and full of filler, it's probably had something dropped on it. The dealer said they would pay £150 to £200 to get the bonnet painted but after that they have no money left in the car.... I Linkedin with Peter Parker and he is now included in the emails.
