  1. It's an old thread now but did you ever get any further with this? I spoke to a few dealers and both closest to me shut it down before I even finished asking the question. Seems the Midlands have plenty of places willing to do this but slim pickings down south.
  2. Is anyone able to provide a link to or the instruction for the auto light coding. I have looked on VCDS page and couldn't find it. I have found all the parts, new switch and sensor and additional and found the instruction on how to do the wiring addition from pin 2 on the light switch plug to BCM pin 16. However before I start pulling trim apart it would be great if someone had VCDS pointers so I dont go poking around in the dark lol.
  3. Has any bought from K-electonic shop before. They sell upgrade kits which seem a bit pricey but they also sell the cable kits separately. https://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?depth=2&nv=1&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=auto&sp=nmt4&tl=en&u=https://www.k-electronic-shop.de/SKODA/SKODA-Octavia/SKODA-Octavia-5E/SKODA-Octavia-5E-Licht--Regensensor-Kabelsatz.html&xid=17259,15700021,15700043,15700186,15700191,15700256,15700259,15700262,15700265&usg=ALkJrhgImbPPncYQPhW0gURAI9ttwS96DQ Example above for the wiring to do the auto wipers / headlights so all you would need to pickup is the sensor and headlight switch, which you can find on ebay. Seems like a good deal?
  4. If anyone stumbles across this thread wanting to chance the quite dim interior lights to nice bright white led's it is very easy. There is another thread on here with a video for the front and rear cabin lights, linked below. I bought these led's off Amazon. They aren't canbus but I don't think the interior ones need it as I didn't get any errors. Thought I'd share as most previously linked products are now not for sale. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07F3VHM2D?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title They fit well and give a good light. Will update in due course on longevity.
  5. Hi all Hopefully a quick question, I have been looking at the retrofits that are possible, mainly I am looking at Retrofitting The rain, light, humidity sensor instead of the humidity sensor I have to get auto lights and wipers and the multi function steering wheel and these both require some wiring. I was hoping to get some of the Metal terminal crimp pins. Does anyone know what size or have a link to what they have bought? As for the wiring I'm assuming standard 1mm2 12v Cabling is fine and preferably in the correct colour for that OEM look. Thanks in advance.
  6. I could be giving this 3rd party switch more credit than is due. But I would have assumed perhaps incorrectly as I haven't bought one, that just like the OEM switch doesn't turn everything off with stop / start. This shouldn't also. Saying that tbh I haven't had my car long enough to notice at night if the stop/start affects the lights like it would when you turn off the ignition.
  7. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07FQY1ZSC/?coliid=I9D1T2L4M0XU2&colid=2ORQ03IT9NKXU&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1 Alas the el3 or el4 that would fit Octavia are out of stock. Bluetooth so you could change settings like that so that you could do welcome lights etc on unlock. Good point about stop / start but wouldn't that be linked to taking the key out the ignition rather than stop/start?
  8. I have seen some that have Bluetooth so that you can connect with your phone to set up sensitivity, delay and other things. Not sure if anyone has had any experience with them. As it would be a very easy and simple / cheap job to just swap out the switch.
  9. Hi sorry to resurrect an old thread but I am looking into adding the auto headlights. I had looked at the kits which are quite expensive or the aftermarket light dial with a light sensor built in but wanted to get a bit more info about doing a proper job. I have the humidity sensor so as far as i understand I can just swap this out with a new rain / light / humidity sensor. But before this I should check the light switch to see if it has 8 or 9 cables. assuming im out of luck and only have 8 has anyone found a good guide that shows how to fit the new cable ie what connector numbers need to be wired up etc. Then I don't suppose there is anyone in the gatwick area that would know how to do the VCDS coding for such an operation? I was considering that whilst im fiddling around in the area of the sensor I might swap out the manual review mirror for an auto one. Thanks all in advance!
  10. Hi All New member here just got my 2016 Octavia SE. The price was right but it didn't have cruise control, saw this thread and forum in general when I was researching the car before buying. Has anyone tried this in the Gatwick / West Sussex area or at the Euro or Caffins or Lookers (Tunbridge wells / Guilford) Network of garages? as it seems to be a mixed bag on if garages even know that they can retrofit it and also price. Cheers
  11. Hi all. First time Skoda owner. Just got a Octavia MK3 2016 SE model. Looking forward to tinkering with it. Already looked around the forums before buying so you might see me around, mainly in the retrofitting and coding sections as I'm intrigued by the idea of 'hacking' my car.
  12. Hi All Just bought a skoda octavia mk3 second hand and just signed up as im keen to learn and have a go at making some improvements to my SE and getting into the VCDS. However when have a quick look through the forum to find my way around and I see this post, PC's and PC gaming is right up my alley so i can offer advice here rather than ask for it! As robt100 and io1901 have eluded too there are a few more questions. The power supply will be critical as the 1050 draws all its power from the motherboard, if upgrading to something faster it will draw more power, so you need to check that the power supply is about 650 watts or higher and has pci-e power connectors. The cpu should be fine but will start to show its age soon at 4 cores, 4 threads. A hyper threaded cpu such as i7-7700k would give it more breathing room but I would consider that optional. Main area of focus is the GPU (obviously), then I would second the need to add more memory, 16GB is basically the norm now to allow enough for the game and they chrome open in the background etc. And the power supply. With the memory you need to add matched kits so you note you have 8gb ddr4 ram (do you know the speed in mhz? might be 2133 or 2666mhz for example). This may be 1 stick of 8gb or 2 stick of 4 gb. So you could buy more of the same and add it in, depending on the number of free slots on the motherboard. As an example if you had single 8gb stick you could buy another matched 8gb stick to get the 16gb, save you having to get rid of the memory you have. Now onto the actual question the GPU (Graphics card) I would probably avoid the 5700/5700xt and the nvidia 20xx ranges, simply from a cost point of view. As those GPU's will be held back by your current CPU. essentially you will be paying for performance you wont realise (unless you upgrade the CPU, but then where does it stop). I agree with the recommendation to pick up a second hand 1070 or 1070ti, that will breeze through at 1080p and deliver at 1440p. If your only on 1080p (full HD) then you could even consider the yet cheaper rx580 and rx590 (the 8gb versions) which can be had for less than £200 new. Comes down to your budget and if your comfortable buying used? The kind of decision process would be along the line of. What wattage is the power supply? is it 650w & above and does it have pcie connectors? If its lower than 650 or has no connectors then you need to replace it. what setup is the memory, do you have spare slots to easily add more? Are you gaming at 1080 or 1440? What is your budget? Are you happy buying used? How much 'future proofing' do you want to build in? Hope that has been of some help. Even if its not a definitive answer, it might at least help you get to a decision. Ill keep an eye out for a reply if you want any more input.
