  1. Thank you guys, Clearly, DSG service is required. Whether there is something wrong or not who knows? You have to rely on my best description. I have never owned a DSG car before this one, nor driven one. Perhaps my lack of DSG knowledge is contributing to my interpretation of the experience. My old Falcon was shifting seamlessly. Perhaps it is all good with this car. This DSG shifts, there is no evidence of any clunks, vibration etc. It is just that compared to other gear changes, there appear to be some slowness from 1st to 2nd when driven gently. With higher RPM's it is not as obvious. The lesson I am getting here is that DSG should be silky smooth. Mine is not, it is very hard to come to stop without feeling a bit of vibration when the clutch disengages. This was never the case with the traditional auto box. On the motorway DSG is great and you cannot really notice the gear changes.
  2. Thank you all. The conclusion is, I gather, there is something wrong with the box. None of you have seen anything like I did with your cars and the shifting should be uniform across all 6 gears, cold or at the working temp. This is my first DSG and I am in the dark here.
  3. Yes, it was the same before the DSG service was done. Haldex done at 4yrs, Dec 2019, they refused to clean the mesh on the pump and only changed the fluid. I wonder if DSG service was done at all. I saw no difference at all in DSG behavior, people report better, smoother performance after DSG service. They may have skipped it (and charged me for it) because the car had only 43,000km on the clock not 60,000km. All servicing was done by Skoda dealership. How can you know what they did or did not? They definitely changed the engine oil because they overfilled it and I had to extract some oil myself. At $840 it was not cheap I can tell you. They said my rear tyres may need to be changed soon and quoted me $740 for a pair. $740!!!! No thanks I said. I can buy 4 good tyres for $600.
  4. 47,000KM on the clock, DSG service done in Dec 2020 at 5 years. On review of what I posted, it would be better if I said slow shifting between 1st and 2nd rather than loss of power... It is difficult to describe but it is clearly not as quick as between other gears. It is not noticeable if I have the accelerator pressed to the floor when taking off. I am talking about really gentle take off, low RPM's.
  5. I've been driving my DSG Scout for jut over a year now. When cold, the gear change from 1st to 2nd is not as quick as between other gears. I am not talking about how long it is in 1st before it shifts to 2nd but rather about the "lag" between disengagement from 1st to a full engagement to 2nd. The best way to describe it is to use analogy to using a manual box (slowly). You are in 1st, you press the clutch pedal, then you shift to 2nd and release the clutch. My DSG does exactly that (low RPM's). There is a clear lack of power in that time space when the shift occurs (as if I pressed the clutch pedal). It is not noticeable with other gears. After 10 -15 minutes it is not as noticeable as when the car is cold. Is this normal?
  6. I will try that as soon as I am successful in disconnecting the harness. It does not want to come off. I tried everything. I don't know what needs to be pressed to release it.
  7. "Check right indicator light" message appears when I drive the car but all bulbs are working just fine. Where do I start? The infotainment shows that the car with front right indicator highlighted.
  8. All four springs have been inspected and found to be in very good condition.
  9. I have purchased and installed these https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000383413536.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.65ad4c4dOBqhlc Relatively easy job to do and they work perfectly fine. I ordered the smocked black version and they are very bright. You cannot see them from inside but that is not an issue for me. They come with all tools required to do the job. I applied a little bit of black silicone where the wires enter the indicators so they are completely watertight. The delivery took around two weeks to Sydney, Australia. The car I have is 1.8 TSI Scout MY16.
  10. Spare tyre is intact. All seatbelts work. The car goes for inspection on Saturday, I tried today but all hoists were occupied. The mechanic said, I would know if it was the spring. Not really reassuring but I really don't hear any noises. This rear coil spring related VW recall is interesting https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2019/RCRIT-19V188-9241.pdf My car has the same springs as Golf Alltrack so there is a chance that the spring was faulty if it really exploded. I checked if the part is available in Australia and sadly it is 4-6 weeks wait to arrive from Germany once ordered ($260 for one). Would there be a matching after market spring? I could not find one for part number 5Q0-511-115-AM
  11. No corrosion. Springs look like new at 40,000km. The car drives fine so far, no noises that I can hear when going over speed humps . I will take it to my mechanic to inspect. The explosion I heard did happen so it must have originated from somewhere.
  12. I cannot see any broken springs. Not an expert. I just remembered, the other day I was getting the shopping out of the boot when I heard a loud bang. Short but very loud. Gunshot type. I did not pay attention because I thought the garage door was flexing due to 40 c + temperature. It was not obviously. What kind of a sound you would hear when a spring goes bust?
  13. This morning when I was driving to work at 60km/h I heard a very loud bang. It originated from the inside of the car close to passenger side door of the cabin. It is hard to tell. It was so loud that my ears were ringing for 2-3 minutes after. The best I could describe it is a gunshot noise/explosion. The radio was on, very quiet. Early morning drive with very little traffic. I have been unable to find anything wrong with the car. I inspected the coil springs, they seem to be intact. Has anybody experienced this? Could it have something to do with radio or seat belt pretensioners (I assume they are fitted). The car drives just fine.
  14. Would anybody please be able to share some information on wheel alignment requirements for Octavia Scout MK3. I am not sure that the mechanics here in Australia have this info. Given the higher clearance of Scout vs Standard Octavia and the Scout being 4 x 4 is there anything to consider. Rear wheels alignment? Ideally, I would like to have this information to take with me when I decide to do the job.
