  1. Now I admit this thread might not get much response and maybe for a very select few but here goes...... Looking to make changes to my Octavia SE Sport as you will see from past threads. Mate at work is very into the modified car scene and he has suggested putting some wheel spaces on the car for a relatively cheap change that will change the look of the car, so have been looking through the tinternet to see what's about. Seems simple enough but he seemed very shocked when I told him that I have wheel bolts holding my wheels on, not threaded hubs! Looking at the suggested spacers it seems that not only will I need to line the wheel up with the hub but I will also have to line the space up too, which seems like a recipe for some choice words being aimed at random things around the garage πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ So has anyone fitted spacers to their cars? If so which ones did you fit and if non bolted ones, how frustrating was it to fit with the extended bolts?
  2. Getting my alloys re-furbished as they are starting to show some signs of their age, with stone chips, minor curbing and other bits and pieces. Looking at the centre caps they are definitely going to need to be replaced as they look aweful. Has anyone found any that actually fit properly without the need for padding them with tape? Been looking online and don't really want to spend Β£40/Β£50 on some genuine ones (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203473056445?var=0&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338268676&toolid=10044&_trkparms=ispr=1&amdata=enc:1z1QuEFC6Trm7B0tgLRL2Jw36&customid=Cj0KCQjwk96lBhDHARIsAEKO4xZNfmyiVhCZkoKeadui1Z2cYONPuAe5mJvXOWpaZaZfcSwBYR0UUuIaAo1IEALw_wcB) https://www.theskodashop.co.uk/collections/skoda-exterior-accessories/products/skoda-alloy-centre-cap-new-style-emblem-5ja601151fod Any links for ones people have used woudl be grately appreciated
  3. Looking into possibly having my car (1.4 tsi SE Sport) re-mapped and the figures look interesting! Extra 30bhp and about 50 extra torques. Has anyone done this to the 1.4? Is it worth it at all? how badly did it effect your insurance? Speaking of insurance.... Has anyone come across any issue when putting slightly larger alloys on their car when informing the insurance company? looking to fit a set of these https://www.wheelbasealloys.com/alloy-wheels/romac/pulse/silver/18-inch/skoda/octavia/mk3-5e?year=2016 moving from 17", thoughts??πŸ€”
  4. Looking to do this to my octavia estate. Has anyone heard of any problems with it once they installed this? Seen on some reviews that people are saying it will twist and f**k the boot lid or ruin the boot latch. Can't afford a new boot lid if there is a risk of ruining it. Bonnet struts are in the post 🀣
  5. Am looking to install a "boot pop open" kit on my mk3 estate as per the below link https://www.vw-retrofit.co.uk/product/skoda-octavia-estate-mk3-boot-pop-up-kit/ However looking at some of the cheap Chinese kits a few people have said that it "will ruin your boot lid as it will twist it" and it will "f**k your boot lock" I know there have been a few posts about these but cannot see if anyone has actually had any issues with these or I'd it's the usual people who moan for something to do🀣 Anyone installed and had any issues? πŸ€”
  6. Thanks will give it a go at lunch Nope not playing up. Have the usual thing of it say connection failed. Press android auto on the screen and it connects straight away. But it has always done that so no big issue. Its more of a surprise when it connects first time 🀣 Starts charging every time I connect the phone it is literally the AA has stopped working
  7. Morning All, Now I know that there seems to be a lot of threads relating to the above but I am struggling to find one that matches my current issue. So yesterday I plugged my phone in, started the car and the android auto worked fine. After a short journey got out and left the phone plugged in (watched my daughter walk into school, so stood next to the car!) Got back into the car and started it up and now it won't recognise the phone for AA. Phone charges but when trying to use AA its like it doesn't exist. Have reset the AA setting on the phone and tried to re connect but it just tells me to connect phone via USB and will not recognise the phone at all. I have tried different cables, as I have had connection issues before, blasted phone and car sockets with air duster and just nothing! My worry is that the USB socket in the car has failed, which would surprise me as the cable is never removed from the car just the phone. Any suggestions of other things to look at before I start thinking of looking at replacing the USB socket (if its even possible)?
  8. Thanks for this. Looking at the link I think I want some closer to 6000k but not sure I can justify over Β£150 for a set of bulbs πŸ˜‚
  9. During one of my youtube scans i came across someone repairing a damaged VRS . Following a new gearbox and some other engine parts they moved onto the broken headlight which wasn't working properly. They decided to buy a replacement unit and they discovered the xenon bulbs to be different brightness, which i didn't know was a thing and thought xenons were xenons πŸ˜‚ So my 1st question is does anyone know what rating the standard xenon bulbs are on a 2016 model (mine is a SE Sport)? 4200k or 4800k? 2nd question has anyone upgraded the xenon bulbs at all to a 5800k or 6000k, and if so which ones?
  10. So deciding to keep my 2016 Octavia SE Sport Estate for a little longer (stupidly high prices on used cars currently means i dont have much of an optionπŸ€£πŸ˜‚) so have started to change a few things to make it stand out a little and though about LED upgrades. All the interiors have been changed and now gives Blackpool a run for its money and thought id give the reverse lights the same treatment, however this is where the issue starts. 1st Set - Worked well for a week or two then started flickering so had to be replaced. 2nd Set - Super bright, cost a little more thought was higher cost better quality - Worked for about three days then suddenly started individually turning off and on randomly. Again had to be replaced as MOT was due today (All Passed no issues 🀩) Has anyone managed to find some LED replacement bulbs that simply plug and play? Looking just at the reverse lights at the moment, like the additional light they offer when reversing, espacially as the nights get longer for winter.
  11. So my parents 2016 Yeti's stereo has started to play up with the touch screen not responding or not registering the input in the right place on the screen (press preset 1 and it selects 3!!) Following some investigation and discussion with my local Skoda garage it appears the only guaranteed solution is to replace the factory unit with an aftermarket one so i have started looking. However i cannot manage to find one that will work with the parking sensors showing the on screen visual warnings as well as the audio warnings. Looking on line including some discussions on this site it appears that it is a known problem so i am hopeful that some one has suffered the same issue and can recommend a replacement that still has the full parking functions as the original unit.
  12. Afternoon All, Have recently upgraded the reverse lights on SE Sport Estate to LED's for a better look and hopefully more light projection when parking in the winter months, and was also considering changing the front fog lights as the standard bulbs look cheap and rubbish against the LED DRL's and Xenon's fitted. Has anyone done this and can point me in the direction of some that won't set off a bulb warning on the dash? It seems from the reviews i have read on some it depends on the make of car as to whether or not they are actually error free!! Ta very much
  13. Afternoon All, My parents have a 2016 Yeti 1.2 tsi and the time has come for a cmablet change. Can anyone confirm if the water pumpis linked to the cambelt or as per the 1.4 tsi it runs completely seperate? Many Thanks
