  1. Hi, my Columbus stereo went German. I was never happy with it so I decided to fit a new head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay. I bought a Kenwood and the Connect 2 connections to adapt the wiring. This included the steering wheel control. Initially there was no sound but I disconnected the car battery for half an hour which apparently bypassed the Canbus(no idea what this means but it worked). Everything now works apart from the steering wheel controls. The programming options in the new HU are greyed out. I went to the Connect2 website and they specified an order of installation- connect to the radio first and then to the car loom. This made no difference. The new loom is connected to the HU with a 3.5mm plug which is labeled as the SW control. There are also 2 wires marked sw1 and sw2( at least I think that’s what they are, the HU is currently installed). There is also a GND wire which makes no difference if it connected or not. I’ve left it unconnected. I’ve also read that it may be necessary to cut wires on the connect2 loom and even wire something into the car loom. I’m stuck for ideas. Advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
  2. Scratch that. In was a bad connection all along. The radio is still in German though 🤪
  3. I know this is an old thread but I’m looking for suggestions to solve a false warning light on my my 2 Skoda Superb. I’ve got a bulb out warning light. The display states that it’s the front left sidelight. Both front sidelights are fine. I’ve cleaned the connectors and replaced the bulbs. There is a good connection. I’ve disconnected the battery to try a reset. I still have the bulb out warning light and the maxi dot message to say the bulb is out. I e checked all the other bulbs and they look fine. At the same time, my Columbus head unit is in German and won’t reset and my phone won’t stay connected after restarting the car. It doesn’t seem like it could be related but it’s all happened at the same time. Any suggestions?
  4. Thanks superdrems. That’s very helpful.
  5. Hi, I use my car radio (Columbus) to stream media but find it very temperamental. It doesn’t alway connect and takes ages to boot up. In another car (also VAG) I use a Bluetooth fm transmitter which I plug into the cigarette light socket. It works really well and powers down when I switch off the ignition. It also works really well in the Superb but the lighter socket is not controlled by the ignition and I have to remember to pull it out or risk the battery (I forgot at the airport recently and came back to a very flat battery). Is there any way to make the socket power off with the ignition? I saw on another site something about moving the fuse but it was a dash cam thread and it wasn’t expanded upon.
