  1. j caff, I am the same. When I used to do 2 journeys a day it wasn't a problem, but now I start the car ten times a day it is irritating me. I thought switching off the 'personalisation' option in the sub-menu's would kill it, but t hasn't 😞
  2. On my stand-alone satnavs in other family cars there is a choice of more than one voice in English and I personally prefer a male voice so I was thinking that that option might be available on the Superb, hidden away in the myriad of screen menu's.
  3. Sorry if this is a dumb question. I have spent ages reading the Satnav & Infotainment part of the manual and don't see the answer. Is there any way that I can change the Satnav announcements to a Male voice ? Car is 2019 with Amundsen.
  4. I would change the cruise control stalk to one that is more logical like other manufacturers use. The other one that really gets me is the headlight height control is no longer a wheel on the dash. I have to adjust mine a couple of times a day and the control is now too deep into the control screen menu and I have to take my eyes off the road to change it. The sound proofing could be a little better. My SE Tech doesn't have ambient lighting which I liked on my previous Superb. The Sat Nav is far more complicated than its needs to be. I don't like the automatic hold / parking brake on my manual car. It can be tricky to use on hills (particularly on my steep driveway after a cold start ) and its easy to roll backwards. Also you only have to accidentally nudge the clutch pedal and it releases, even in neutral. This may be a fault so I need to have the dealer look at it. Because of these quirks I leave auto hold deactivated. No doubt it works better on an DSG car.
  5. 11p per mile is horribly tight fisted. My last Superb including depreciation, insurance, tax, fuel, servicing , tyres plus every single other cost over 125k miles ownership cost me 22 pence a mile and I had absolutely nothing go wrong. You would think that they could do better than 11 measly pence. I mean, I get 25 pence a mile for my bicycle...…..
  6. Happened to me over Xmas. I parked in Cambridge North Station car park. There were literally 10 cars in a 500 space car park as it wasn't a working day. Returned a couple of hours later to find still only 30 cars in the car park, but one parked so close to my drivers door that I had to get in through the passenger side to drive away. Just why would anyone do that when there were 450+ other places ? At least they didn't dent it like the unlucky folks here
  7. How much is an SD card with a pre-loaded map direct from Skoda?
  8. Me too. I am getting slightly better than 64mpg long term out of my 2.0 diesel. Driving conditions, journey length and driver style make a big difference though.
  9. I currently drive three different cars, all with ACC and I probably drive 500 miles a week using ACC. If there was one thing I wish manufacturers would standardise it is the control stalks for cruise settings. I regularly get myself in a muddle between the three different systems that I use. The Skoda stalk control is my least favourite as it is too easy to switch off ACC completely when pushing the stalk away to pause, and why the 1mph up and 1mph down adjustments are done a different way completely different defies logic. Having said that the Skoda ACC radar is by far the best overall on the cars that I drive and doesn't suffer from the latency that other systems do.
  10. Carlstons advice is good. Another trick to release a stuck wheel that I have used many times if you already have the wheel off the ground (and nuts still attached but loose) is with the stuck wheel just a few mm clear of the surface to roll the spare wheel towards the stuck wheel edge and it usually provides enough of a shock impact at exactly the right angle to release the wheel. You need to be careful that you don't bend the wing, but it usually works. Doing this is safer than kicking it when it is up on the jack as you are standing away from the car. I changed hundreds of wheels back when I was a mechanic and some can be an absolute pig to unstick - mainly truck wheels)
  11. I have storage under the non electric passenger seat in my SE Tech. Its just the right size to put a fluorescent tabard, a torch and my spare mobile in so that they are within easy reach.
  12. My best mate was stranded on a back road in Norfolk recently when he hit a deep pothole at 20mph in the dark. The problem was he heard a double bang...……….🥺😢
  13. And with ACC and a manual box it usually throws in the towel when going down through the gears at some point in heavy traffic. Its fine at the rest of the time though but it will change your driving style with a manual box as I tend to find that I focus on managing the gears to keep ACC happy.
  14. Well I am a little late to the party, but I have finally changed to a mk3 Superb after a highly successful (and reliable) 6 years & 125k with a mk2. I have recently purchased an 8-month-old 2.0 Diesel SE Tech Hatch with a manual gearbox. It appears to be exactly what I wanted with all the useful gizmo’s that I need and none that I don’t. I normally buy new cars but as the difference in price between new and nearly new is currently so great I couldn't justify it this time. As I spend 95% of the time driving on packed motorways and dual carriageways (20k a year commuting in the South East) the big improvement for me is the enhanced ACC which is much better than any other car I have driven with Adaptive Cruise Control. Other things I like; Blind spot monitoring - well worth having if you spend long periods on the motorway in the dark. Heated seats, okay so far. The front parking sensors work well. A great manual gearbox. A decent DAB radio that re-finds stations immediately when I leave a tunnel, which many others don’t. Also, the ability to change driving modes is also fun. Fuel economy has been all over the place for the first couple of weeks and seems highly sensitive to the outside temperature. I think it should eventually average about 63 to 65mpg once it settles down, but I have had a couple of two-hour journeys where I never went over 68 mph and it returned only mid 50’s mpg but the same journey the next day achieved 71 mpg. I did get 910 miles out of my first tankful though which is a good start. The two things I do miss from my previous superb are a CD player, as I can’t be bothered to faff around with electronic media when driving, and simple ambient lighting which my SE Tech doesn’t seem to have, which was standard on my old mk2 SE. I may be a little kid at heart but the thing that has delighted me the most is the Voice enhancement tool. If I turn its setting up to the max and then speak immediately after muting the radio it seems to go into full comedy ‘Pub singer’ mode (including the echo & feedback) which means that I can entertain my family with a few dodgy renditions of famous songs which should mean that none of them will ever want to travel with me again. 😁 I will no doubt have some comments and questions in the weeks ahead.
  15. It is a nice little touch to have. My Citroen has ACC but doesn't do this so when you pull out it takes an age to realise that there is now nothing in front and to give it more Gas. The Superb system is a step up from this.
