  1. I can't look at the actual door to see how it might be done, as I no longer have my Superb :'( But if the trim could be removed from the front door, and the door opened, that would then give access to the multiplug connector for the back door situated on the B pillar - which just may allow the rear door to open...
  2. think you want the Octavia forum... But... spurious electrical events.... early sign of water ingress somewhere?
  3. Very nice looking MX5 there, shame putting the number plate on spoils the look. Used to love the pop-ups on my old MR2 but always envied the US-style low-rise twin light conversion you could do to the MX5. And the BBR turbo conversion... SWMBO used to have a Mk 2, but with its bigger seats the cockpit was just too tight for me to drive any distance in comfort. So had to get my fun in quick
  4. Are you saying the front door failed 30-60 secs after the rear door failed? If so, then that would be a little too much coincidence and would tend to point to convenience unit problems caused by water ingress. When the door locks stick, typically it's because the solenoid has failed and will not release the deadlock which is why you cannot hold up the button on top of the door. In my experience, this happens intermittently over a varying period of time. I don't know, but I would have presumed that a lack of signal due to water ingress would not cause the solenoid to hold the lock shut - but as I said, I don't actually know that. I would say it could well be worth disconnecting the multiplugs inside the rubber bellows, found between the hinges on each door. This will kill all power to the door, including windows and mirror, but could just enable you to open the door manually. Considering the alternative, well worth a go... good luck
  5. When did the doors stick shut? Did they fail at the same time? If not, then the door locks may be coincidental to the water ingress problems. The locks are prone to failing and sticking shut (I've had three). It is possible to break open the door without doing noticeable damage (if you know what you're doing) - but you will need new locks (£120 each) and will need to take it to somewhere that has experience of doing it. So quite possibly A VW dealer... good luck
  6. Thanks to those of you who expressed interest in the car but the sale is now complete and the new owner has collected her. Not a sale I was quite ready to make, and I've no idea what I'll get once I'm in a position to get a replacement. First things first... find a job!
  7. OK - so now I've discovered how to use this photobucket thingy, here's a couple of snaps to be going on with. The car has effectively been sold and unused for the past couple of weeks, but no end of logistical problems means that the chap who wants it can't get to collect it. So, it's now available again... I'll go and get some better photos as soon as I can... cheers
  8. 2.8 V6 yes - there's one or two about. 4x4 no - not that I've ever heard of.
  9. after being a member for several years, I feel rather embarrassed to have to ask... how do I upload photos? :S
  10. I would guess red and also guess somewhere where the reds manager s retiring at his last home match today and the ones with the blue shirts lost yesterday somewhere else. :wonder: 9 out of 10 on a technicality. Photos are coming, but got to wash it first. I've been away for a few days and had put this thread up as soon as I decided to sell. Suppose I should have prepped the car first .
  11. Is the carpet wetter nearer the doors? Check the bottom of the doors and the sills for signs of water stains. The seal around the metal carrier plate behind the door card fail, and water then flows down the inside of the door and over the door seal to the carpet. Also, check where the bonnet release cable passes through the bulkhead. cheers
  12. and I love mine too... but after 7 years I've got just a little bored with it - I've never had a car longer than 5 years before, usually about 3 years before changing. So, as I'm now 'between jobs' I've decided to sell it and have put a sale thread in the for sale forum. We don't really need the rear leg room any more and I'll put up with using the wife's Mini til I get sorted. So I'll certainly miss the leisurely smooth ride and the feeling of driving a quality car. And the cruising ability. And the heated seats and sat nav. And the big boot. Aw heel!!! Now I'm thinking about keeping it again...
