  1. I have been plagued by this for months and months. Was not there originally when i got the car. Both myself, my local Skoda Garage and Skoda UK have tried what they can - new tyres, tracking, balancing, four wheel alignment the works.

Skoda say its a characteristic of the car - seems a bit odd to me. Just as i lost all hope of a resolution i think it has been clearing. Not sure if its just wear on the tyres or just different roads.

Skoda however will say that the car is cambre sensitive due to the electric power steering i believe.

  2. Well i went down the expensive route - bought all new parts to build a new machine for myself and intended on swapping parts in my brothers machine until it worked. How Scientific :D.

Well memory it was - at least i think it was. Replaced the RAM (upgraded him to 2GB later also) and watched films for 5 or 6 hours without a crash. So he is happy and so i am as i have a nice new machine, as follows:

    Athlon AM2 6000+

2GB RAM (Should be 4 but 2 went into other machine)

    320GB Sata HD

    8600GT 256MB

    2 x 18 Speed DVD DL RW

Cant wait to get it all up and running tonight.

    Thanks for the info gents

  3. PSU is 450W so could do with something a bit better and came with the case so no name brand.

I am hinting towards this. I have checked the voltages and they are a little off, but nothing major.

The machine is my brothers, built it for him and he uses it for his business - so he is getting a bit frustrated and i am his first point of contact.

Will see what the PSU brings.

  4. Hello,

Hope you guys can offer some suggestions, i am looking for some idea's on why a machine may be crashing rather randomly.

Its a Dual Core Core Athlon machine, with 1GB RAM running WinXP Corp. When the machine crashes more often than the screen will Freeze for a few seconds and then the PC will turn off and reboot into Windows.

Windows has been reinstalled a number of times. Motherboard and CPU temps are both well within spec. I am not able to monitor the graphics card temp (card wont allow) it is an ASUS build 7600GS 512MB (PCI-E). The card does seem hot (passive cooling via Heatsync - no fan). The crash happens when the sytem is under load from playing a movie to copying files. Normal browsing ETC doesnt appear to cause an issue.

My money is either on the graphics card or the power supply being faulty, however it is difficult to prove without replacing these devices which one.

Any help or suggestions for diagnosing the issue would be fantastic.

    Ta.

  5. After many months of back and forth to Capitol Skoda in Newport and some considerable time and money wasted I am told sorry we cant help.

Currently the VRS wanders to the left...Its not the camber as it does it on flat roads too. Skoda have exhausted all their knowledge - they cant fix it. Skoda Technical cant fix it. I am now being told that its a characteristics of the camber sensitive nature of the vehicle, or words to that affect.

To me this is complete rubbish - as far as I am concerned they should either fix it or give me my money back - am I being unreasonable??

    Suggestions and advise please.

Apooligies for the spelling mistake in the title.

  6. Guys and Gals i am looking for some guidance. I have read through this thread and i am still a little confused.

For the past few weeks i have been having issues with my car pulling heavily to the left and i have noticed that the steering wheel doesnt sit dead centre. It has been back to Skoda a few times and they have told me to get new tyres on all corners. There was uneven wear on the fronts (they claim due to incorrect inflation - altho it was regulalrly checked) and very little left on the backs. So

  7. Afternoon,

Recently the Fab has been drifting or pulling to the left. The speed that you are traveling at doesnt seem to make a difference there is still a gradual draw towards the curb.

I have made sure that the road is flat and tested, still the same. I have had the wheels balanced at Skoda - they are fine. Had the tracking and the tyre pressure checked by my local tire place - spot on. Also checked for uneven wear and tear on the tires and they seem happy.

There are no other noticable issues with the ride. I have considered sticky brakes rubbing slightyly however i cannot see any visual evidence of this.

    Any suggestions??
